Crust was good.
S H.

Pretty good slice! Employees were very nice. Pizza was pretty good , no grease, crust was good. Great place to stop and grab some food .

Small, local pizza place. By the slice $5. Decent but not outstanding in any way, a little greasy. Service: order at the counter Staff: friendly Overall cleanliness: average

Brah. This is how my food came out. No cheese on either of the slices and one looks like it already had a bite taken out of it

Tony's Pizza is located in the Gaslamp off E Street and 4th serving up Pizza all through the day and night. I dropped by Tony's after a night of going out with friends for drinks and had the munchies and was craving something that would fulfill my empty stomach. I walked in and there were a couple of customers coming through ordering as well. I went ahead and ordered the pepperoni jalapeño ranch Pizza by the slice. All the pizzas are on display and when you order they throw the slice into the hot oven again to reheat it but in my case they did not. He told me that the Pizza just came out of the oven and is already hot. In my head and eyes it wasnt hot he just wanted to get people in and out as fast as he could to prevent a crowd build up from all the crowds on a weekend night. As for the Pizza it was just okay and nothing spectacular. The Gaslamp has tons of pizza by the slice shops and I have never expierenced something like this before where service was not a priority. Maybe during the day and they don't have a rush this place would be better.

Well, I didn't find Tony Montana but I did locate a solid late night cravings spot in downtown San Diego. Selling pizza by the slice and more, the small storefront offered friendly & quick service. Around $5-6+ per slice

Hawaiian Small

Midnight and hungry after a concert. The perfect solution. Open, with a line out the door at midnight, a good sign. We were the only sober people in there other than the workers who were polite and quick with our order. They had a few different kinds 5-6 to choose from. I got Hawaiian and hubby pepperoni. They were both a decent size slice, and the crust, sauce and toppings were good. A great midnight snack!

E Street Special and Brewski
Elvira O.

I love this New York City style pizza. The crust is fresh and crispy. The cheese is salty and creamy. I got the E Street special which has fresh tomato, mushrooms, and basil. You can't go wrong with that! My boyfriend got a slice of the Brewski which has pepperoni and sausage. Also a winner. He grew up in New York and confirmed that this is indeed New York City style pizza as it was easy to fold in half without the crust breaking...something I still don't understand but what I do understand is that these were delicious pies! I believe it was the owner that greeted us. Great guy! Everyone here was so nice!

Check-In Offer

Wondering around late night going from place to place grabbing a drink will definitely leave you wanting something to fill the gap between and what's better than a pie to share with some of your friends to get you all on the same level! So after a few hours wondering about we stumbled on to Tony's seeing that all of us were into pizza on this given night and that we had our friend Tony with us coming here just seemed to be right and it very much so was! Once inside we just went with a pepperoni pizza as it easy to share and something everyone could enjoy so that's what we got it was basically NYC style with plenty of toppings cheese and a yummy crust that all of us enjoyed tell the last slice! This is a small little spot with a few tables inside as well as daily specials for your pie needs and if this were not enough they have a Check-In offer too so if you stop by inside definitely take advantage of that! Overall late night pizza how could you go wrong the pepperoni pie was yummy the lady working was nice and we all enjoyed our slice!

Buffalo pizza slice

In the downtown area, walking around after a bad experience somewhere else this spot was near by, the man at the counter was friendly and fast Got myself a Buffalo pizza slice, it hit the spot. It was good! Tasted warm hot and fresh. It was also very affordable 3 stars because he didn't have any pepperoni slices available but overall fast friendly and delicious

LATE & SLOW- mon eve 4/12/21 placed an order through the uber eats app 9:08pm. note- tony's 11 min away & use their own drivers. i selected because listed delivery time 25 minutes or less. long story short & 3 unapologetic (and borderline rude) phone calls later, order arrived at 10:45pm- over 90 minutes later. to ice the cake...i ordered a philly cheese steak from the menu- it had no cheese!!! ........................................................ oh and fckk uber-eats too for giving **zero fckks** about with who they do business!!! #tonyssucks #readsimilarreviewsbelow #doordashnextorder #deleteubereats

All time worst pizza ever. Period. Ordered at 8:02 PM just got here 9:34. Completely burnt. We're not talking a little crispy we're talking when you touch it the pizza brakes apart like ash in a fire pit. COMPLETELY INEDIBLE. Call back to get my money back and the best they could do was redeliver it with the next batch. I asked how long and another hour+..... I ordered it at 8 so I might get a pizza at 11pm? I'm sticking with Gaslamp Pizza now on they never did me wrong like this.

Boneless bbq wings - way too much sauce and half were not fully cooked. Do not recommend
Britney H.

After looking at the most recent positive reviews, my friend and I decided to try it out on a Sunday evening around 8pm. I ordered through door dash & picked it up. It wasn't ready when we arrived which was fine. We stood outside and waited and empathized with the one employee working. We ordered: Mozzarella sticks - the marinara sauce was missing 10 piece teriyaki - they were *literally* drowning in sauce (see photo) 5 piece boneless bbq - again, drowning in sauce and half were undercooked There were also no utensils or napkins. I guess thats what we get for not checking the bag before you leave. This is likely not a restaurant I'd visit again.

Lawrence C.

Standard kind of place. Slices are on the small size, especially for $3.50/slice. Decent selection of pizzas. Flavor was average..... texture below average....good in a pinch.

The wings came tossed in soy garlic and they were fantastic. Korean fried chicken just crisps differently and this place nailed it. Perfect crunch on the outside and juicy inside. Something about that style of fry just hits. For the bites we chose potstickers, and they actually let us toss them in one of the wing sauces which was such a cool way to try another flavor. We went with yangnyeom and it had a really nice kick. I love spicy food so that was a pleasant surprise. I ended up dipping my soy garlic wings into the extra yangnyeom sauce from the potstickers and wow... that combo was incredible. The wings also came with coleslaw which balanced out all the fried goodness perfectly. They even give you a bucket for your chicken bones, which is such a small but thoughtful touch that keeps the table clean. Our dish was Japchae, which was a great addition to round out the meal. Service was also on point. The wings came out hot and crispy, and they even gave us wipes with the check which was super appreciated after demolishing a pile of wings. Overall this was a fantastic meal and a great deal. Easy 5 stars and I can't wait to come back.

The chicken sandwich had good flavor and was the highlight of the meal, though it wasn't enough to truly stand out overall. My party and I decided to dine in and ordered the family special, which included 24 wings, veggies, and breadsticks, and we added fries on the side. One thing I really liked was the option to choose up to three wing flavors. We decided on mild buffalo and lemon pepper with extra seasoning. While placing the order, I made it very clear that I wanted extra lemon pepper seasoning but did not want the wings overly drenched in the butter/oil base. The cashier acknowledged me, but I noticed she never entered the request into the register, which honestly became my first red flag. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt and assumed maybe she would communicate it directly to the kitchen... unfortunately, that didn't happen. After paying upfront and taking our number to sit down, it seemed like there had been a rush before we arrived because several tables still needed to be wiped down. I had to request for our table to be cleaned, which normally wouldn't bother me, but it was disappointing seeing one employee standing around while another staff member was clearly overwhelmed handling the register, bagging to-go orders, and assisting customers. When our food finally arrived, the mild buffalo wings were delicious, the fries were hot and fresh, and the veggies were crisp. No complaints there at all. However, the lemon pepper wings were exactly what I feared they would be -- sitting in an excessive amount of oily butter base. I explained again to who appeared to be the manager that I had specifically requested extra seasoning without all the excess oil. Her solution was to bring extra seasoning on the side and suggest that next time I order it that way from the beginning. But the issue wasn't the seasoning itself -- it was the preparation. Once the wings are swimming in oil frying, coated lightly and dried, sprinkling extra seasoning on afterward doesn't really help because it doesn't stick the same way. It just throws the whole experience off seeing your food swimming in visible oil. I ended up having to remove the wings from the excess buttered oil myself, request another plate, and re-coat them at the table. At that point, it felt like I was finishing the prep work that should've already been done in the kitchen. Overall, I'd give this establishment about 3.5 stars. There's definitely room for improvement when it comes to lobby cleanliness, teamwork during busy periods, order accuracy, and food prep consistency. This experience wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't the best. I'd still recommend this location because franchises can vary depending on management and staff, and the food itself was fresh and made to order. If I'm ever back in the area craving wings, I'd probably do takeout next time and make extra sure my lemon pepper wings aren't overloaded with oil.
