At the time it was close to my house the doctor picked me up where the other doctor had me at. The staff is very friendly and they were quick to help me get prior authorization for one of my meds. They don't accept any insurance, so you don't have to deal with the insurance company. None of the other doctors that took insurance wanted to keep the medication I'd been given before. They wanted to do procedures to run up the cost of treatment I've been going to Affordable Pain Management for over a year and I'm totally pleased with their service.

To begin with, I arrived early for my visit so I could fill out their ridiculous amount of paperwork. On it were the obligatory questions about the pain I was in, but no one seemed concerned with what I put down, as they kept referring to other things that were not bothering me. Also, when I made the appointment, I specifically asked for Dr. Amin, but I never saw him. I filled out the paperwork and sat in the annoying waiting room where the television is entirely too loud and on a continuous loop of ads. Nothing else. I wished there was a remote out there so I could turn it off, but that would show true concern for the patients and you won't find that here. I finally was brought in to the madness of the back, and Michael, the nurse (I'm not sure if he's actually a nurse but I don't think he's a physician's assistant and I know he's not a doctor) could not have been nicer. If this review was about him, it would be five stars. He was the only one I met who actually listened to me. Next came the PA. This could either stand for Physician's Assistant or Pain in the Ass, you can decide for yourself. She was a nightmare. She apologized for the amount of time I had to wait, but she had to go outside because her car was hit. Which is saying to the patient that her car is more important. That gives you an idea of the caliber of the practice. Finally the doctor came in. He stood across the room and recited to me what his PA had written down, incorrectly, which completely threw him off because he had already decided on the the diagnosis and course of treatment (all with drugs) before he walked in the room. He never examined me, he stood with his back against the door and never entered any further into the room. I now know how lepers must feel. He prescribed several medications for me, which is why I started feeling like I was in a pill mill. Then he told me he would call in another prescription, and that pharmacy would call me to make arrangements. I was also to have an MRI. Finally, something that made sense. His office would arrange that and the MRI office would call me to schedule. I also had to give them a urine sample, but for the life of me, I don't know why. I gave it to them. I have yet to hear anything more about it. I was shown to the front desk where the receptionist immediately tried to book my next appointment. I informed her that I couldn't very well do that since I hadn't had the MRI yet, which completely threw her off. I patiently explained to her (maybe not so patiently) that I had to have an MRI and that her office was going to call the MRI place and let them know what the were scanning, and once that was done, then I would call and make the next appointment. I'm guessing she gets paid on how many appointments she makes because she was not happy. Several weeks later I received a letter in the mail from some company that claimed they had been trying to call me (even though I never got a phone call from them) to finalize the medication. I checked and it's a medication that is NOT covered by my insurance, and I can only guess that Dr. Macek gets a kickback from the drug company, because I cannot come up with another reason why he would prescribe this for me, particularly since he still had not examined me. Oh, and the MRI? Well, it's been over a month and I still have not heard from anyone about that. As I said, this made me think I was in a pill mill and nothing has happened since change my opinion. In reading the reviews on here, it seems that most patients are very happy with Dr. Amin. I cannot understand why I was not put on his schedule when I specifically asked for him, but I was not. Sadly, I'm not willing to give this place another chance.

If you are a pill shopper looking at this to find a free pill stand, just hooked on opiates to fill that void, then still go to a real doctor and better your life! So after three months I went back on them unfortunately. Anyways, still to this day I continue with a medication called Bupropion, it is a miracle drug,,, it makes you want to quit EVERYTHING! Lol for the first time in my life, after 28 years of smoking, I quit! I'm even at 10 months without a single alcohol beverage! I feel amazing, cut back my meds considerably and that used to be hard for me! Anxiety and that "I need a drink to help with the pain" is gone! GOOD DOCTORS helped me get here, don't waste your time here, your better off buying aspirin then this place! I'm not sure if she knows how useless the rest of the staff is in general, or if she's just aware of the messages I've left the past three weeks begging for a prescription refill, but she was kind enough to offer immediate assistance. Besides that, I've been hung up on twice before I could even say "Hello" and if you leave a message, they will NOT call you back or help you. It's a shame that there are probably one or two good admins there that are being held back by the rest of their miserable and untrained staff. I had no choice but to have surgery. Dr. Gilbert and his entire staff are the greatest I have ever had. On my initial consult, Dr. Gilbert entered the exam room so bubbly that it put me right at ease. He explained the procedure in depth, and we discussed alternate pain management away from opioids (40 years clean). My surgery was on a Friday. I arrived at 6am (surgical center in same office building) and was on my way home by 11. I was awake during the procedure, so they numbed my hand, and gave me Ketamine (Special K). I felt no pain and Dr. Gilbert described the operation as he went along. The recovery staff were caring and very attentive to their patients. I felt very at ease. Here is where Dr. Gilbert differs from the physicians I have seen. The surgery was on a Friday, and to my complete surprise, Dr. Gilbert called me from his personal phone on Saturday to see how I was faring. To me this is unheard of. On my follow-up visit, they removed the bandage and I could see the incision was in line with the crease in my hand. Having been fully healed, you cannot see the scar. (see photo). I began physical therapy with Alex. He is very knowledgeable and took a video on my phone of me to demonstrate exercises I needed to do to maintain flexibility. The subsequent visits, the therapy exorcises were thorough and pain free. I took a 15 day cruise just 6 weeks after surgery with no complications. After I completed my therapy and was released, I wrote a thank you note, only to have Dr Gilbert reply with a thank you for my thank you. The staff from check-in to check-out are friendly and attentive to your needs. (They love doughnuts, so bring a dozen for them). All in All this was by far the best experience I have ever had with any physician in my life. If you are in need of Dr. Gilberts services, I could not recommend him more. Thank you Dr Gilbert.

I had pregnancy induced asthma and Dr. Foster was the only pulmonologist in Broward county who would see a pregnant patient. He took such good care of me then that I remembered him so many years later when my asthma recently reasserted itself. Dr. Foster is very kind and down to earth. He took my concerns seriously and was able to help me when other healthcare providers failed. I would highly recommend Dr. Steven Foster.
