Worst experience ever. Started with a man in the lobby,…read morefighting with the receptionist about charges. The EKG assistant was extremely rude and unprofessional. I was treated as if I wasn't a human being and believe the machine wasn't even hooked up properly. I found out later my wrist heart rate monitor should've been removed for the EKG and they never even said anything about that. Had an appointment with a doctor, but a nurse came in and told me she was the doctor. Then she tried to convince me that my EKG results had a concern but not to worry they had an in-house cardiologist. She also had trouble reading the documents I had arrived with which was the reason the appointment was made in the first place. She spoke no English and we had a very hard time communicating. I kept asking for the doctor since I had made an appointment with a Dr. Felix Labrador. She insisted that she was a doctor and she will be taking care of me. I confirmed on the way out that she is not a doctor but a nurse. Then she tried to tell me I had to make separate appointments for the lab work. Started to getting the ick and it felt like it was all about just getting more reasons to bill me. Everything felt off so all I wanted to do was get out. Told her I would reschedule for later and come back. This was a lie. I was very uncomfortable. And on my way out another man now in English fighting at the front desk also about billing. This place is extremely unprofessional, and very likely unethical practices are occurring.

Terrible service and a complete lack of medical ethics. I do not recommend Southwest Medical Center…read moreat all. They treat healthcare as a mere business and show no compassion for their patients. As a patient with a chronic condition covered by Healthsun, I was flatly denied specialist referrals, and they refused to process refills for my essential medications. Their justification was that the insurance company wasn't paying them the proper amount--effectively using patient health and well-being as a bargaining chip in their financial disputes. It is outrageous that they would play with people's lives in this way. These practices should be thoroughly investigated by the appropriate authorities. Stay away from this place!

Dr. Maria Cristancho is wonderful!! I visited her office today for the first of several…read moreappointments to help in the management of severe pain from two broken ribs, and just her demeanor has made me feel better already. She is professional, kind, competent, thorough, and she listens. Moreover, she doesn't have a godlike attitude that too many doctors seem to have today. For more than a week, I have suffered through excruciating pain. Every movement hurts. I cannot sleep a full night without waking up screaming and God forbid I sneeze or cough, as it is a pain that is indescribable. The two ER doctors at two different facilities basically told me that it would be another few weeks of the same and that I would just have to deal with it and push forward. Conversely Dr. Cristancho is really the first to suggest treatment through nerve blockers, whereas one of the two prior doctors only suggested that protocol as a treatment of "last resort" and the other made no mention of it at all. Although I understand that different doctors have different methods, it would have been nice to know that it was even an option. Thankfully, I am aware it is an option now, and although I am psychologically hesitant to have it done just because of the idea of putting needles in my back, I feel totally confident in Dr. Cristancho's recommendation and her abilities.

I was skeptical when first arriving as per a referral from my primary. The new patient paperwork…read moremade me think we were just pursuing a band aid for my problem vs. a solution. Once meeting with PA Amanda and Dr. Rosenblatt I was put at ease. I needed a shot in my hip. I had been to ER and Primary and was in a great deal of pain, immobile without a walker and wheelchair. Able bodied just 2 weeks prior. However approval had to be channeled through my primary's office. There were back and forth issues attempting to acquire this ASAP. Susan, the office manager not only had the confirmation with exact time she requested it from the primary but offered to call them when they were still saying they didn't get it 48 hours later. Susan then called me back at 4p on a Friday to affirm she had received all the approvals they needed and suggested she could move my Monday appt. up to get me in ASAP. I cried with gratitude when we hung up. I was so grateful for expediting this process since I had been in so much pain. Also grateful to get me in even sooner. Most grateful for her call to give me hope and peace of mind over the weekend. Her compassionate approach and willing follow through meant so very much. Susan is indeed an asset to this office. They also called me to see how I was doing a few days after the shot. Bravo! My next follow up is scheduled this coming week. Hopeful to move toward fixing the problem, not just treating the pain.
