I first known about Pom from my friend who got her wedding dress altered and as well, got my MOH dress altered. Our dresses looked and fit perfectly in the end and not only were our visits enjoyable, the time went by so quick because we enjoyed her company and she always had new stories to tell. She is a very pleasant person with a huge sense of humour. I got engaged the same year and bought a dress and went to Pom to alter my wedding dress. Because I already know how well she does her job, I fully trusted her and went back to her to alter my wedding dress. Throughout the two years I've dealth with Pom, I've gotten to know her more as a person and she has been very welcoming each time I come for my fittings. I enjoyed our chats and I highly recommend her as a seamstress, she knows what she is doing, listens to what you want and how you want your dress to look, she gives great suggestions and shares her opinion. I didn't realize her widely known she is in the GTA. I lost her number one day and searched her name through Google and the search results showed many bridal sites (well known) that highly recommended her....great to know. So, with that being said...on my wedding day, I received many compliments on how stunning I looked in my wedding dress and believe me when I say this...I wouldn't of have had this many compliments had it not been for Pom's amazing skills. Phenomenal seamstress!!!!!!!!!! If you want a woman who cares a whole lot and is superb at what she does, go to Pom. I am a size 2 and bought a sample-size lace wedding gown (with ridiculously complicated appliqué) that was probably a size 8. Pom had to literally deconstruct my dress and put it all back together, all the while taking over 6 inches off from everywhere (and this is a sheath dress...not many seamstresses could rise to the challenge). I was absolutely stunned that she was able to pull it off. Not only was she able to pull it off, she added stunning embroidered details to the inner hemlines that I didn't even think about. This woman knows her stuff! The cost of the tailoring was expensive, yes, but had I went to a boutique, I would've paid double. I feel as though I got a bargain for what I needed done. The value was most definitely there. One reviewer mentioned she had to go to several fittings and this frustrated her. I can somewhat see her point - I had 5 fittings but I felt that added value as opposed to taking value away. Pom really cares and has pride in what she does. I found Pom Penner from a boutique in Unionville that recommended me to her. Pom Penner is very kind and funny and very easy to get along with. I brought my prom dress to her, and it needed alot of work. It is an all sequenced long dress that was 3 sizes too big. The breast/bust area of the dress was very thick and meant for a girl with a large bust. I am an a, and Pom completely reconstructed the internal side of the dress, and made it look absoultely beautiful on me! I am so happy!! Pom has reasonable prices and is quite the talented seamstress! She was very flexible with times, and got the job done always on time. She hemmed the bottom of my dress, took it in around the breast, waist, hips, and bum, added boning a finger loop, and suggested everything she could to make me look my best on prom day. I went to her last week to pick up my dress, I tried it on and couldn't have been happier. I know sequence dresses are very hard to work with and Pom couldn't have done a better job. I absolutely recommend Pom to anyone looking for a suitable seamstress. She is quick, affordable, and such a friendly person to have met. I will definitely be going back to Pom in the future. Hey, Pom is chatty, and she is very busy, and sometimes you have to wait.... Oh boo... She is a professional and super-duper awesome! She did a superb job on a dress that I got from a charity organization - http://thebridesproject.com/.... And my wedding was fabulous - Pam adjusted the dress exactly how I wanted - dont forget to remember that people can't read your mind - say what you want! Yes - you have to email or call her about what you want. But if you r not on top of your wedding and buy of the rack or if u size 2 - elope :) i am not ( no disrespect to gorgeous size 2 brides out there , but according to bride sizes i am about 14..haha) - then don't hire Pam - but if you want your dress to fit just you and u willing to deal with several trips to Markham - this is the lady you r looking for... Pom Penner came highly recommended to me by The Bride's Project, as I wanted a significant amount of work done to my wedding dress - including changing to a sweetheart neckline. It was immediately obvious from the first time we met that Pom has earned every glowing review. Pom is extremely friendly and can easily be contacted by either phone or e-mail. She was easily able to offer solutions to the flaws in my dress and made several thoughtful suggestions for improvements to flatter my figure and make the dress more wearable. All this at a very affordable prices and a quick turnaround! Pom is definitely a perfectionist and will not be satisfied until you are happy with the results. Due to the dramatic work I needed to have done, Pom completed the work several months before my wedding. Knowing that there could be minor alterations that came up in the interim, she gladly had me return in the month before to make it sure it was the perfect fit! I found Pom Penner online through a few wedding feeds, she had great reviews so I decided to call her. She was very accommodating and got me in right away since I only had 5 weeks until my wedding. She is such a pleasure to work with, she's so outgoing and had me laughing during all my fittings. She measured me up in the first visit, made some suggestions for getting my dress to fit nicely and was very professional. At my second visit the dress was fitting almost perfectly! She does great work, her prices are very reasonable and she goes the extra mile to make sure everything is working. She even modified my spaghetti straps (at no extra cost) so they would be more comfortable...and they were! If you have to wait a few minutes its only because she is so accommodating and makes sure every bride gets the alterations she wants...Its worth an extra 5 minutes of your time IF you have to wait (I didn't but some reviews mentioned this). Pom is AWESOME! She is lax, hilarious, and made me feel so comfortable, but don't let her casual easy going persona fool you. Her workmanship is of the finest and she really is amazing at what she does! If you need a wedding dress altered, she knows exactly what will make you look immaculate on your special day. Pros: - My dress was a strapless, sweetheart neckline, fit and flare - She added a sewn in push-up cups and a bra (so I didn't have to pull my dress up every 2 seconds) - She makes as many alterations as needed and will alter up until the day of your wedding! - I'm not exactly busty and therefore the dress was gaping and so she closed in the sweetheart neckline, - For the fit and flare, she really tailored it to fit my body so my butt looked kickin' that day - And of course, she hemmed the bottom to ensure I wasn't swimming in my dress. (I'm 4'11") Cons: - She's not exactly super cheap, but you're paying for excellent quality and great customer service. read more

Pom was recommended to me for wedding dress alterations from the boutique I bought my dress in; Sash & Bustle. My experience with Pom was fantastic, she is a very talented seamstress with a great character and sense of humour. I have a Truvelle dress, and she altered it to include cups, aligned the delicate ribbon straps, and made a 3 button / 7 loop bustle for me. I also had her work on my great grandmother's veil which is such a delicate piece and had many small holes in it. She repaired all the tiny holes beautifully, and attached the old veil to a new silver hair comb piece I had purchased from Sash & Bustle. I had 3 appointments with her, and she had steamed my dress for each appointment. Her prices are very reasonable for the beautiful and intricate work she does. I trusted her with my Vera Wang dress, which after trying on a few months after purchasing didn't fit so well and didn't look as nice as I originally thought. Pom totally transformed my dress into something I loved. Everyone at the wedding kept remarking that it looked like it was designed for me it fit so well. Pom is amazing to work with. She re-did my wedding dress and she nailed the look that I wanted. This review is way over due but Pom is amazing! I was referred to her by Grace Wedding Gown Specialists and both of them work with the brides project. (I figured if they work with a charity organization they must be reliable). Pom has a great sense of humour, her prices are reasonable compared to the in store alterations and her work is detailed and professional. She altered two gowns for my October wedding and they both fit like a glove. The second dress had ornate beading and I was concerned about losing the design but Pom figured out how to move the pattern up so I didn't have to compromise the style. I'm getting married in a month, and I heard about Pom Penner from the Bride's Project. I asked her to alter my wedding dress for me, as well as a dress for my mom. She's so knowledgeable! My mom is a modest person and when worn correctly the neckline was a little too low for her comfort - Pom had some great suggestions on how to drape and sew the scarf that came with the dress so that it looks great and makes my mom feel comfortable. I brought my second hand Pnina Tornai wedding dress to Pom for repairs and fitting. She did an incredible job!! Even improved the original design by reworking the skirt!!! Her prices and workmanship is really outstanding. She is so sweet and passionate you can really trust that she will do amazing work.
