Half empty platter of Arroz Campesino (Country Rice) which was wet and sticky with the single smallest piece of chicken! No chorizo!

Never again will I go to this location! Everything is off!! First the portion size is ridiculous small compared to other locations. Second, my husband ordered the country rice which is suppose to have chorizo and chicken... and what he was given was wet yellow rice from the bottom and it had no chicken or chorizo in it! Thankfully we checked the bag before leaving because they were missing the beans. Had to go inside to get the beans and noticed all the workers were young teens! With that being said, I'm happy that teens want to work but I blame poor management not teaching them correctly or supervising! Look at the ratings!!! DO BETTER!

I've been here twice now... First time I was lured in by the grilled pineapple shrimp salad, which looked absolutely delicious from their picture ad. Consequently, I found myself at the drive through waiting behind what seemed like a mile of cars at 11:30 am waiting to get one. I also ended up picking a flan. The only qualm I had was the salad leaves looked not fresh, they were some brown spots on a few of them. Regardless, I've never really been a fan of shrimp, but the shrimp in the salad was cooked to perfection. The salad I got actually looks like the picture, which you know is never the case when you order a burger from McDonald's.... Because my experience here was pretty good, I came with a friend. She got the grilled pineapple salad and I picked up the BBQ Guava pork sandwich with fried yucca as the side. I liked the BBQ Guava pork sandwich - the meat was very tender. I also really liked the variety of sauces they have, quite a variety and not just your usual ketchup and mustard including cilantro garlic and guava BBQ. The fried yucca tasted too dry. My friend's salad had the same problem as mine from last time... not fresh salad leaves. Maybe Pollo Tropical better check those leaves. I suppose I'll be back again, maybe 3rd time's the charm? The family meal on the whole chicken seems to be a pretty good deal.

Horrible, just horrible...I keep giving them a chance and every time they get worse !!! Never again!! I just ordered something from them today and the chicken was super dry and my plantains were all burned !!! Horrible!!!

Disgusting, dirty and no one cares. This was my first and last visit. I tried speaking with three different employees. Asked for a manager. Got a head shake and mumbling. The lady handling the food had gloves on, however I saw her touch her face, hair, other objects (not food), then continued to handle food. Every table is dirty. The sauce bar was a disaster. The were floors dirty.

I love Pollo Tropical until it ruined its reputation here in Lake Nona. I've been there several times and without being exaggerated, it is the dirtiest food place in Lake Nona. It is disgusting how the dressing bar is always in very bad shape, tables completely dirty and the place empty, just to say that there was no action for the crew not to be cleaning the place. There was a lady with uniform I guess on break and she even used the dressing bar and didn't give a crap about it. I can't believe it. She took her stuff and went to sit and continue with her meal. Again, this is not the first experience. What a shame! Place empty, and employees just chatting and having fun while the place is falling apart

This place gave me old reheated fries and the not the quarter chicken I ordered. Also the chicken was on the dry side.

    Why no refills on soda?

Places that do not have self serve soda typically will refill at least once if you are eating in the establishment and go up to the counter and ask. That has happened for me in the past.

4 1/2 stars! We came here for our anniversary recently, dressed to the nines and expecting the…read morerestaurant to be ... more formal and dressy than it was. There were plenty of people who didn't look even 'business casual' much less the 'dressy' listed here in Yelp. We were seated and got our drink order in ... and waited several minutes. We had already decided on our orders when our server first arrived at the table, bearing menus listing the courses for the prix fixe five course 'Taste of Bacan' menu. (There was also a prix fixe seven course offering, but no menu for it??) We changed our minds and went with the five course offering ... and waited several more minutes for the first course to arrive. (Fortunately, the delays in service ceased after this.) The food was amazing! First up was a Lobster Burrata Tostada, on a little four inch crispy corn tortilla with sweet notes from the passion fruit. Next up was the Florida Snapper, beautifully cooked, with a loose mofongo and fennel shreds, but served on a bed of curry sauce which was too spicy for us. It was at about this point when the Bread Service we added showed up: a good-sized loaf of warm bread, heavily seasoned on top, paired with a chorizo/ricotta spread that I didn't care for. Then the Pork Belly, so soft and delicious. The last entree was the Carne Asada, served medium rare (off-putting to those of us who prefer our meat cooked), but delicious when eaten with the salsa and corn side. We finished up with the Tres Leches cake. I'm not usually a fan of Tres Leches, but this again was superb, contained in a dark chocolate shell, garnished with little chocolate/crispy rice balls. I appreciated that they had zero-proof mocktail options, and tried the El Dorado. I didn't care for it, though, as the drink changed flavors twice as I worked through the layers, and none of them were particularly tasty. Service started out very slow, but improved once the food started coming. My soda was refilled proactively, and the descriptions of the courses were interesting.

The service was incredible to start, but slowly fizzled out as the meal went on. The cadence that goes with a tasting menu went completely out the window as the second half of the course took twice as long as the first half. The wine pairing was exceptional, highly recommend it. Now the real problem, the food. The food was good. A couple items were really good. But honestly nothing was great! There is a lot of potential here, but this place is truly bordering on not being worth the cost. I wanted to have a different experience. In fact, this was the first restaurant we experienced once in town because I'd been waiting. It unfortunately was not worth the wait. You won't hate your experience here, but you may feel like it wasn't worth the money.

A disaster. Not Recommended for Large Groups…read more We made a reservation for 15 people and called ahead. They asked for a $10 per person deposit ($150 total), which we paid without complaint. My wife even got the name of the person who took the reservation--Josymar--who was actually really nice on the phone. Too bad that was the last nice thing about this experience. When we showed up, the greeter acted like they had no idea about any reservation. No tables were ready, and the whole vibe was "ugh, a big group." You could just feel the annoyance rolling off them. Our server, Stephanie, was an absolute mess. She was scattered, had this bar-attitude energy, and seemed completely uninformed. Here's just one example: we ordered appetizers that took forever to come out. When they finally arrived, one was missing. By the time the main dishes started showing up, we told her to cancel the empanadas. Her response? "Sorry, I can't cancel them now--the kitchen might already be working on them." Really? We had to push back and told her we were not going to eat it. We also ordered the Mofongo with Churrasco and specifically asked for the garlic sauce on the side (which, by the way, doesn't even taste like garlic). She flat-out refused and said the sauce had to come on top. No flexibility whatsoever. Pretty much everything came out cold--appetizers, sushi, you name it. We constantly had to chase her down for drink refills. Eventually we'd had enough and asked for the manager. Amanda came over and was polite, but she basically defended all the screw-ups. The only person who actually helped us was José, a server in training who wasn't even assigned to our table. He went out of his way to bring food and drinks while everyone else seemed checked out. The appetizers were a total rip-off too. They push an "upgrade" to add pork chunks, but it's really just fatty, chewy bits that were cold and unappetizing. Oh, and they only allow 3 checks for the whole group, with just one server for 15 people. Of course they add the automatic 20% gratuity for big parties--so why bother trying when the money's already guaranteed? This was hands-down the worst service we've had in years. Complete disaster. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else if you've got more than a few people.

The ambiance and the warmth of the staff took me back to the Caribbean--it definitely felt like home. Their menu features a Latin-Asian fusion, and I loved every second of it. We started with the Krab Salad. It was incredibly fresh, topped with avocado, and the perfect way to open my appetite for a sushi night. Next were the Pork Fried Gyoza, served with a sticky, glossy sauce that has just the right amount of kick. They were so good, you won't be able to put your chopsticks down. The Escobar Roll combines shrimp tempura and churrasco--the best of both worlds. It's topped with sweet plantains, chimichurri sauce, eel sauce, and spicy mayo. I had my doubts about all those flavors working together, but I have no idea how they perfected that combination--they absolutely did. The Mar y Tierra Roll was recommended by our waiter, and I highly recommend ordering it in tempura. It gives the roll a completely different texture, and it's absolutely amazing. The Pollo Loco Roll is topped with sweet plantains and teriyaki sauce. It's simple, yet packed with flavor. We finished it all off with a crème brûlée. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be enjoying one at a sushi restaurant, but it was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. If you're looking for creative sushi, unique Latin-inspired flavors, outstanding service, and an atmosphere that makes you feel like family, The Escobar Kitchen is definitely worth the visit.
