The drive-thru line was extremely long and actually blocked the entrance to the parking lot, making it difficult to even get in. I ended up parking across the street and walking over, and unfortunately, going inside wasn't much faster. On the positive side, the inside was clean with plenty of seating available. Customer service was also pretty good. The cashier who helped me was friendly, knowledgeable, and pleasant to interact with. We went back and forth about protein options and what was going to give me the most protein. I ordered the meal advertised as having 77g of protein, but the chicken breasts I received were extremely small and dry. Based on the portion I was served, I was definitely questioning the advertised protein amount. It also didn't do much to curb my appetite. The beans were pretty good, and the rice was standard. For around $10, the price itself wasn't bad, but I expected a much better portion of chicken especially for a meal being promoted for its high protein content. This was my first time trying out Pollo Tropical. It's advertise as a citrus grilled chicken. I didn't taste any citrus flavoring at all. The chicken was flavorful. I would go back again, the food is quality and the atmosphere is very clean. The line to place your order is outrageous at lunchtime, and so is the drive through line. So if you go, be prepared to wait a while. I got a "make your own bowl" with the pork. I will say, the pork was very fatty and I wouldn't get that again. The chicken looks like the best bet. I decked the bowl out with all of the options and multiple sauces, I still felt like it was a bit flavorless. I placed my order through Grubhub and it was an easy process. Our hotel was only 5 minutes away from this location but we decided we would just eat in our room. I ordered the plate that came with grilled chicken, yellow rice, black beans, and a roll. My sister had the churrasco plate which included meat, white rice, black beans, and a roll. We also ordered a side of potato wedges. Total was about $45 with all the extra delivery and app fees and we waited about 35 minutes for the food to arrive. Upon receiving our food we noticed that the food was already lukewarm, not hot. Disappointing. The chicken was pretty good, it was juicy and not dry. I also really enjoyed the yellow rice but the black beans could've used some salt. My sisters steak was good but they were very stingy, counted about 7 small pieces of meat. I eat here three times a week, 12 times a month. If the gentleman's telling you he'll make my food cause you're doing it wrong, let him. I understand they can be overwhelmed but there's no need for poor customer service. The one way I have figured out to avoid the long wait is by ordering online and going inside to pickup my food. There's an area for online orders- although it's not always the best system because you do have to wait a while to get your food, it's faster than going into the store to order or even trying to venture into the drive through. The food is good but when I asked for the bread buns the lady at the counter said they had no buns that day- there was a stack of buns behind her but I didn't have the energy to fight her so I just let it go. Because of the number of people coming into the restaurant, that sauce bar is typically a mess. Nasty. She smiled - and said, "Here you go, sir." *Two days prior, I walked to the counter and asked for a Mango Sweet Tea refill. The woman said she couldn't find it.
