We went on a Sunday night for dinner service and were seated right away. There was an obnoxious…read morecustomer listening to a video on his phone at max volume, but thankfully he left shortly after we arrived. I did think it was weird none of the staff asked him to turn it down even though everyone was visibly annoyed by him. Another strange thing is the menu didn't include the side options so you had to ask for that. The tables are definitely in need of a refresh, with visible peeling on them. The food itself was fairly good, I especially liked the yuca frita and the churrasco. The service was below average, our waiter only came to our table to take the order and give us the check. 18% is automatically added to your bill as a "service charge", which I didn't think was appropriate considering the lack of actual service we received.

I thought I would find more comments since every time I've gone they are super busy and everyone seems to be enjoying the food. If the place was slammed full of people I might of understood, perhaps but it was a ghost town (picture below) The arepa was tough as cardboard and flavorless to make it worse it was drenched in sauce that wasn't fresh. Needless to say I won't be coming back and I suspect the other two people that were complaining about the wait aren't either . This food truck was a huge disappointment from start to finish . If they had a zero rating I would of given it .

So when a local project calls for helping hands, teammates hurdle desks to volunteer, conveniently forgetting their workload the moment they hear the magic words: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks provided. Whether by bribery, luck, or strategy, Christof has managed to visit three times. He'll shamelessly tell you he does it for the Fritanga. What do you expect from a man whose pantry and fridge look like they were sponsored by Heinz? Ceviche's acidity sends him running for Tums; Colombian sancocho knocks him into a siesta, but fritanga strikes him like Cupid loosing an arrow over a Vigorón covered griddle. His go‑to order reads like a greatest hits of Nicaraguan delicacies: Carne Asada (grilled steak), Gallo Pinto (rice and beans), Tajadas (crispy plantain chips), a double portion of Queso Frito (fried cheese), and a bottle of Rojita, the oversweet strawberry soda that tastes like childhood, if childhood had been in Managua. Christof demolishes his plate down to the last grain of gallo pinto, every single time. These are platters built for sharing, saving, or sustaining you through a grueling day fit for loggers. And in true per diem stretching fashion, he always orders a second plate to-go for the plane ride home. Efficiency, thy name is hunger. Diners flock to fritangas for two things: bold flavors and heroic portions. Fritanga Monimbo delivers both in spades. Of their four locations, Miami Springs, Palmetto Bay, Sunset, and Fontainebleau, this one is the smallest and offers the least ambiance, but what it lacks in décor it makes up for in value, with hearty plates ranging from $10 to $17.
