Decided to try this place for the first time after picking up my kid from the school nearby. Went thru the drive thru so I don't know how it looks inside. Service seemed nice . I ordered a family meal. The fried chicken was Ok. The fries were very stale and seemed old. The coleslaw feels like it needs something not sure what , maybe less liquid. Maybe I need to try the roasted chicken. I got the nugget meal. Fries had potential but they were cold. No roll was given, but it was part of the meal. The chicken I expected it to have more flavor but it is nice quality chicken pieces. The campero sauce is not for me. Like a rip off of Cane's sauce but Cane's is better. The restaurant is tucked back in the new shopping center in Jurupa Valley, just past In-n-Out when entering from Pyrite. A large parking lot should accommodate any vehicle, and there's also a drive-thru option. The interior is clean and spacious with booths and tables of various sizes, so that's good for big families. Ordering is also quick and easy. I've only tried their fried chicken, but after a 3-piece and sides, and a 2-piece with the revamped rice (other sides tried were macncheese and potato salad), I am a fan. Dad's sandwich was pretty big, especially the chicken itself. He said he'd come back again, which is basically an endorsement from him. I concur, the place is solid. I've been to Pollo Campero before and usually enjoy their empanadas they're actually really good when they're fresh, but lately they've been hit or miss. Sometimes they come out burnt, which is disappointing. Today I came with my mom and went through the drive-thru (I haven't dined inside yet). We ordered the 4 -piece meal with a side of yuca fries and rice. The chicken was tasty overall, but definitely on the salty side borderline too much. The rice was unfortunately bland with no seasoning or flavor. The biggest letdown was the yuca fries. They were hard to eat literally. Either they were overcooked or had been sitting out too long, but they were super tough and dry. To top it off, we didn't get any napkins or utensils in our bag. We were eating in the car, so I actually had to make a spoon out of the fry container just to eat the rice. Not exactly what I had in mind . There wasn't much of a greeting or friendliness at the drive-thru either not rude, but definitely not warm. I live nearby and really want to like this place. Tried this chicken for the first time a few weeks ago at a party and really enjoyed it. When I saw this location up and running had to stop by and see if the quality was just as good. Walking in on a weekend the place was packed! No indoor seating was available. There's also umbrella patio seating but it was a bit too hot outside. Friendly welcome and great service. Management was present and in the trenches alongside this hard working team. The staff had a lot going on and all were working together to man this ship! Ordered to go and was pleased to find the chicken was just as juicy with a crispy exterior. Yucca fries are not common so happy to see it as a side option. Had to get some Mac & Cheese in the mix and try some empanadas. The empanadas reminded me of a flauta or chimichanga. Melty cheese, chicken, corn with a nice seasoning. Could definitely use some salsa or spice of your choosing. Overall great first visit! New places need some grace. They're getting a hold of the reins, finding their footing, learning from mistakes and getting into their groove. It's understandable for more than a few hiccups upon start up. My wife and MIL stumbled upon this place this week while out shopping in Riverside. We could smell the food from a few stores down and had to try it out. I got the bowl and had to order a side of sweet Plantains too. Everything was so GOOD. The chicken was juicy. My daughter got a side of Mac n Cheese with her meal and loved it. My wife and MIL both enjoyed their 2 piece combo as well. Our food came out quickly and staff checked in on us throughout our visit. The service was just as disappointing. The lady who took my order didn't greet me or say a single word unless I spoke first.
