Maybe I need to try the roasted chicken. I got the nugget meal. Fries had potential but they were cold. No roll was given, but it was part of the meal. The chicken I expected it to have more flavor but it is nice quality chicken pieces. The campero sauce is not for me. Like a rip off of Cane's sauce but Cane's is better. Now that I've eaten here a couple of times, and my father was pleased with his chicken sandwich, I'm prepared to weigh in. The restaurant is tucked back in the new shopping center in Jurupa Valley, just past In-n-Out when entering from Pyrite. A large parking lot should accommodate any vehicle, and there's also a drive-thru option. The interior is clean and spacious with booths and tables of various sizes, so that's good for big families. Ordering is also quick and easy. I've only tried their fried chicken, but after a 3-piece and sides, and a 2-piece with the revamped rice (other sides tried were macncheese and potato salad), I am a fan. Dad's sandwich was pretty big, especially the chicken itself. He said he'd come back again, which is basically an endorsement from him. I concur, the place is solid. For being a fast food restaurant for fried chicken it's always super consistent really good flavor and juicy

I've been to Pollo Campero before and usually enjoy their empanadas they're actually really good when they're fresh, but lately they've been hit or miss. Sometimes they come out burnt, which is disappointing. Today I came with my mom and went through the drive-thru (I haven't dined inside yet). We ordered the 4 -piece meal with a side of yuca fries and rice. The chicken was tasty overall, but definitely on the salty side borderline too much. The rice was unfortunately bland with no seasoning or flavor. The biggest letdown was the yuca fries. They were hard to eat literally. Either they were overcooked or had been sitting out too long, but they were super tough and dry. To top it off, we didn't get any napkins or utensils in our bag. We were eating in the car, so I actually had to make a spoon out of the fry container just to eat the rice. Not exactly what I had in mind . There wasn't much of a greeting or friendliness at the drive-thru either not rude, but definitely not warm. I live nearby and really want to like this place. But between the inconsistent food and the lack of care in service, it's just hard to keep coming back. read more

My wife and MIL stumbled upon this place this week while out shopping in Riverside. We could smell the food from a few stores down and had to try it out. I got the bowl and had to order a side of sweet Plantains too. Everything was so GOOD. The chicken was juicy. My daughter got a side of Mac n Cheese with her meal and loved it. My wife and MIL both enjoyed their 2 piece combo as well. Our food came out quickly and staff checked in on us throughout our visit. In addition we filled out a survey and got two pieces of chicken FREE for each survey filled out. So that will be lunch tomorrow. LOL. We definitely will be back!! read more

Tried this chicken for the first time a few weeks ago at a party and really enjoyed it. When I saw this location up and running had to stop by and see if the quality was just as good. Walking in on a weekend the place was packed! No indoor seating was available. There's also umbrella patio seating but it was a bit too hot outside. Friendly welcome and great service. Management was present and in the trenches alongside this hard working team. The staff had a lot going on and all were working together to man this ship! Ordered to go and was pleased to find the chicken was just as juicy with a crispy exterior. Yucca fries are not common so happy to see it as a side option. Had to get some Mac & Cheese in the mix and try some empanadas. The empanadas reminded me of a flauta or chimichanga. Melty cheese, chicken, corn with a nice seasoning. Could definitely use some salsa or spice of your choosing. Overall great first visit! New places need some grace. They're getting a hold of the reins, finding their footing, learning from mistakes and getting into their groove. It's understandable for more than a few hiccups upon start up. Customer service totally sucks here. No greeting, chaotic ambience, everyone seems like they are in a rush... almost like they just want you to go away. I had a really bad experience at this restaurant today. As soon as I walked in, I noticed flies inside, which already made me feel uncomfortable about eating there. When I went to grab Horchata, the container was empty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly. there was old Horchata just sitting at the bottom just foamed up It looked gross and completely unappetizing. The service was just as disappointing. The lady who took my order didn't greet me or say a single word unless I spoke first. I had to ask her everything, what my total was, if they had certain items, there was no effort to engage or make the experience pleasant. There were five employees working that I could see and not many customers, but most of them seemed more focused on chatting with each other than helping guests. I work in customer service too -- I totally understand talking with coworkers, but it's also important to keep things moving. They were literally just standing there talking with each other. The bathroom really needed attention -- the toilet was dirty and the space didn't feel clean. I know these things can happen, but I won't be back to this location. read more

This Pollo Campero is very new and it's horrible! Their chicken is good but they never have enough prepared, especially grilled. Every time I've gone through the drive thru, they have to check if they have enough pieces of chicken ready to go. Not to mention, the horchata was horrible, it tasted like chalk! I told myself I would not go back but I was kind of desperate recently. I pulled up to the drive thru and ordered a chicken bowl, the worker said they no longer offer that. My daughter isn't much of a picky eater, she loves rice & chicken, she tried everything and said it's nasty. All she ate was the tortilla and some fries. Not sure what this place is trying to be, fast food or table service. There was no place to put used dishes and trash, if that's what they're going for then someone needs to be on table service at all times. On top of all that, it gave my husband & I food poisoning. I placed an order online and arrived to pick it up around 8 PM, only to find the doors already locked--despite the posted hours clearly stating the restaurant is open until 9 PM. When I called customer service, I was told the hours were indeed until 9. After waiting, someone finally let me in, and I was informed by staff that they had closed the doors early simply because they were out of dinner rolls. When I questioned this further, I was then told the reason was that they had run out of chicken--yet, I was handed my full 12-piece order and witnessed other customers receiving their orders as well, even being given extra chicken in place of the rolls. Clearly, there was food available, and yet customers were being denied entry for nearly an hour before closing time. This is unacceptable, especially for a brand-new location. Customers should never feel as though employees are trying to close early at the expense of service.
