The technician clipped me twice with the nail clippers--hard enough that I yelped and had to tell her to stop and just trim and file, not perform surgery. I always ask for a shiny buff on my natural nails (the kind that looks glossy without polish--like they do at Nails So Happy at Per Park). I asked for this repeatedly today, even through a translator. Despite that, my nails are dull and look like they were aggressively sanded. Difficulty with English is generally a problem at nail salons, but this staff is impossible to communicate with. Someone was playing music off a small speaker, but whenever they stepped outside, the music cut out, leaving the space awkwardly silent. They do not have massage chairs. Instead, you sit on a 90-degree couch with your feet in a bowl -- extremely uncomfortable, especially if you're taller (I'm 5'11"). Pricing Issues: There were multiple surprise charges. I was charged to have my gel polish removed -- something most salons include if you're getting gel polish again. My friend, who only had regular polish, was charged $5 extra as well to remove her polish. None of these fees were disclosed in advance. I was also charged $10 for extra product on my big toes that I never asked for and wasn't told about until the end. On top of that, they brought the card machine over while I was getting a massage, which totally ruined the moment and added stress due to the unexpected upcharges. Why 2 Stars? The actual pedicure was average -- nothing special. The surprise fees, lack of comfort, and poor communication really hurt the experience. The room temperature was wonderful, she slowly started working on me, and listened to everything that I told her. She did not have rough hands, allowed me to choose the amount of tip that I wanted to add on to my service, offered me a robe and slippers when I walked in before the treatment, gave me a choice of scent I wanted to have, and if I wanted lotion or oil. The masseuse gently tied my hair up so it wasn't in the way, and none of the lotion got in my hair. It was so amazing that I fell asleep through the whole thing. Before we started, I told her I hated being on my stomach, and not only did she listen, she got a special body pillow that was built for women who have had cancer and/or were pregnant. It was the most comfortable thing I have ever laid on. Here is the last kicker: both my future daughter-in-law and I feel worse today, the day after, than we did before we went to this place. Our upper backs, in the exact same area, are sore and feel bruised to the touch. The website doesn't say it but you have a mandatory 20% tip tacked on so beware. I'd stay away from going to Spa Baliage. UPDATE FROM THE OWNER: NO RESPONSE. DO NOT GO HERE AND TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW.
