Where is the filling for these dried out doughballs?
M S.

My elderly parents have been talking about Paczki day coming for weeks. They have bought them for years on Fat Tuesday back in Wisconsin. I looked for a bakery to surprise them with some. I saw Polish Deli had them today. I got up early drove 30 minutes got there way before they opened at 9am and got in line. They line was out the door and people were ordering dozens at a time. I was feeling pretty good. Since they only had maybe 4 dozen of each flavor I figured I would only get one of each and we would split them. Also they were going to run out before everyone else could get some. Got them home and had 3 elderly adults act like it was christmas morning. Cut them open to reveal almost no filling. Then to add insult to injury they were some of the driest donuts I have ever had. They seemed days old. So disappointed

Sadly, the Arcadia HMART and the one in Kearny Mesa didn't have the prepackaged oysters in a jar... POKE: Looks very fresh and surprising to see a poke section a the LV HMART. The ones in CA didn't have a poke section... TONKATSU RAMEN SNACK: 8/10 It's highly addictive and makes a great snack on the road. However, we enjoyed the original flavor more... PURPLE YAM: 10/10 It is delicious, nutritious and helps lower your HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE!!! Speaking from experience ;) FRESH WASABI: 10/10 That's the first time I've seen it sold at an HMART! AMBIANCE: 10/10 This HMart has a wide selection of kitchen ware and it's designed kind of IKEA where you would enter in one way and out the other kind of like a maze... LIVE SEAFOOD SECTION: It looks like you can walk up to it but, they closed it off. The dungeoness crabs are so fresh and I love it when they have daily dead crab specials because I don't want to kill anything in order to eat. I would rather let it die in peace and then consume it... SERVICE: Good Service. Everyone was busy and working hard plus minding their own business... HMart has a special place in my HEART!!!

We also take advantage of the "deli" for pretty decent Chinese food and some dim sum items. So today we arrived at around 8:20 had a wealth of close parking spots to choose from . We typically don't buy a lot of frozen prepared foods when we shop, but 168 has such a good supply of dumplings and the like we couldn't avoid buying a bunch. We bought the typical veggies, produce and the like. Hit up the dried noodle section as well as restocking our sauces and seasonings. We also hit up the bakery and got two loaves of their "special" bread. One loaf was their "side sliced" which means that they sell just the thin edge pieces all together in a loaf size package. So maybe not for everyone, but it makes great toast, thin and crunchy. Since we hadn't eaten a big breakfast, we took a number and ordered a combo meal, some congee and 4-5 dim sum items. Quick service, reasonable price and we actually had a pretty good brunchish meal. Authentic Cantonese and Mandarin with a touch of Szechuan ... not world class but good selection and certainly several steps above the typical fast Chinese food found at the panda places. (Didn't take pictures as we were too busy eating. By the way, the dining area was spotless. So all in all, filled up our shopping cart, had breakfast and out the door in an hour.

I absolutely recommend for any salmon lovers as myself to get their tray of salmon nigiri and their spicy salmon onigiri. It is nicely filling and leaves me feeling refreshed! Not only do they have fresh food but the assortment of snacks and treats are never ending. In their freezers, they have an array of frozen fish, snacks, and plenty more to look at. One of my favorite things to do is purchase their frozen fish and make my own sushi night. There are also small nick knacks to the back of the store that are worth looking at! The workers alone inside are usually always very generous and don't bother unless you need help with anything. With everything being said, I genuinely recommend for anyone who wants to find a good Japanese market and doesn't want to travel far to go to here! I found Nakata on Yelp. Since it's a short drive, I was off to see the sushi they had. The store is somewhat small but they have a lot of Japanese treats. There is a large section of sushi in the cold case. I picked the large package to bring home and enjoy. The nigiri was tuna, yellowtail, salmon, shrimp, and eel. The sushi roll was 8 pieces of spicy salmon. Along with the package there were small packets of soy sauce, wasabi paste, and pickled ginger. The price was $17.99. I also decided to try one of their fruit sandwiches. I got the apricot and strawberry one. It's made like a sandwich but it's a kind of spongecake. The items were all packaged well. I enjoyed the spicy sushi roll and the nigiri. Just perfect for a dinner before the game. I saved the sandwich for a treat post game to savor the food and the win. A very nice dessert. The items were bagged along with napkins and two pairs of chopsticks. While this may not be the quality of sushi you'd get at a sushi restaurant, it was certainly a step up from what is available in grocery stores.
