My crazy friend and I are always on the lookout for a workout deal so when we saw a class pass for…read moreRaquel's on Groupon we decided to check it out. I checked out Raquel's website and read her bio. I found it cool that she's a mom of a young child b/c as a new mom I've been working on finding time to fit fitness into my hectic schedule. We signed up for the 5:30 am class through the Mindbody app. I've used Mindbody in the past and it makes sign up, cancelling (if necessary), and receiving reminders very easy so I'm glad Raquel uses it. There's a parking lot in front of the building which is always nice. When we arrived there were a few others going to the class also arriving and they were kind enough to hold the door for us. Raquel was running a few minutes late but the front desk girl and a few of the regulars already knew to start warming up and they lead us in doing so. When Raquel arrived we got right into it. She was just the right mixture of encouraging and firm to keep us motivated throughout the hour long class. We did a variety of different exercises, went for runs around the studio, etc so there was no getting bored. When we felt like giving up there was someone else in the class shouting way to go or you can do this which was really awesome. The studio is well equipped and there are several before and after pictures from clients displayed which is very encouraging. Ive been to a couple of Raquel's classes by now and I've enjoyed them all. There are men and women of different ages and fitness levels in the classes and everyone sweats! I would definitely recommend Raquel's.

I tried Racquel's for the first time as part of a Yelp fitness event for the Saturday boot camp…read moreclass. Sign up and payment are super easy online through their website. I enjoyed the class very much and decided to try a one month membership. I've seen attended the Saturday Boot Camp, Monday Shredded, and Wednesday Butts and Gutts. They offer a few classes each day (early morning class on weekdays, two evening classes, and a few morning weekend classes). They have a large loft space that can fit a ton of people (no worries about not getting into a class because it's full). There's a variety of different people--ages, genders, fitness levels and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. Easy parking in the large lot across the street. They have a variety of membership offerings and group ons right now if you want to give a try. Come spring and summer, they offer workout classes in the park which is pretty cool. Would recommend for anyone looking to try a new fitness regimen!

Totally late on this five star review but a recent visit back to New Haven reminded me of how much…read moreI enjoy Polefly, Jess, and everything she brings to this space. Polefly is essentially where I fell in love with the art of pole and Jess has set a standard for instruction that I've looked for in every studio I've attended since. She is highly technical and understands the mechanics of the body in a way that makes you feel really safe while you practice here. Poling can be scary but I never felt worried about injury at Polefly because Jess is very thoughtful and careful, she plans the lessons around you and your body, meeting you where you're at while still challenging you to try your best and push yourself a little more each time. Despite all of her extensive experience and technical prowess, Jess never makes you feel less than. So much of poling is as much mental as it is physical, and this space always feels and felt safe, supportive, and affirming. I grew so much here and I am so sad there are so many miles between me and this lovely space these days and always look forward to my next visit back. Thank you, Jess, for everything you do to make this space wonderful. Also: get here early, people. Sometimes the walk up the stairs is long.

We took a private pole dancing class at Polefly with Jess as part of a bachelorette party weekend…read more Everything was great--from the booking process to cost ($20/person for an hour class) to the class itself. Our group is very uncoordinated but we still had a really great time learning some moves and getting some exercise. The studio is clean and kept up well and Jess is a great and encouraging instructor and doesn't make you feel like an idiot (even if you know you're looking like one!). I can't speak to the normal classes here but would highly recommend booking a private event for a special birthday surprise or bachelorette weekend!
