I took off my sandals and was very welcoming to his central room where he spoke about each musical modality. He then played the singing bowls, "xylophone" , and his magnificent gongs. His masterful touch was intriguing as each particular tone filled the room with magic!!! I was truly in awe of its power as I could feel the tones resonate in my lower back! The sound is very soothing and subtle but has intrinsic power to move through the body in waves. Astounding and magical also was the infinity mirror. All I could say is "Wow"! I can listen at my pace but you are expected to complete at least 15 hours per week. I hope that includes reading the book (which is huge). Everything is clear and easy to access. I can be anywhere there is a WiFi connection and love being able to track my progress. I hope anyone considering a career change or adding new skill check them out. The person who set me up was very patient and spent over an hour on the phone with me to me get familiar with everything, answer all of my questions and make sure that my laptop would work well with the program. They offer a variety of art classes from drawing, to basket weaving, to painting, etc. It is a little hard to find on the street since if you walk past the door you might miss the entrance to the second floor. After visiting France a few years ago, I became interested in studying French. I took 2 College…read moreFrench classes in the '70's, so I have started pretty much at zero. When I looked into it, Berlitz was good but I could not afford the price. I had taken community college language classes and found them wanting. I found Alliance through a google search. I am now starting my 4th year. The classes that I have taken have been taught by native speakers with degrees who have been patient and supportive. Most if not all of the classes are all in French. My fellow classmates have been from various backgrounds, ages, and fluency levels. There has not been any grandstanding by students with a higher level of French over those like me who are beginners. I look forward to my classes, which meet for 2 hours once a week. I would not consider myself fluent, however, looking over the books from my first semester, I feel that I have made a great deal of progress, in reading speaking and listening. There are no grades, and it is really a program where you get what you put in. As a matter of full disclosure, I have enjoyed my experience so much, I have recently joined the Alliance board.
