Their soft vanilla and soft chocolate are must-tries, and taste even better when topped with some of polar cub's classic peanut crunch. I'm not usually a basic vanilla or chocolate kind of person when it comes to ice cream, but polar cub does these two exceptionally well with their soft serve. Polar cub also has seasonal feature flavors which include new and unique soft ice cream flavors. The hard ice cream is also great, and I definitely recommend the black raspberry. There is no indoor space in polar cub, so it is counter service only. Although there is always a line out the front, polar cub is always very fast. A discussion with our friends convinced me that we had to try Polar Cub last Saturday on a chilly spring afternoon. My husband and I each had a dish of chocolate/vanilla twist soft serve. It was quite good in both taste and texture. We were served pretty quickly as it was not busy due to the rain. For better weather, there are several picnic tables under cover. This place seems on par with the best local custard stands I've been to over the years. Definitely plan to come back. This place is practically an institution. It has been around for as long as I can remember and I've lived in central Jersey my entire life (50 years). My wife and I stopped here tonight for some ice cream to take a break from the heat (nearly 90 at 8:30 PM). I hadn't been here in about 20 years. They don't have as many flavors as Baskin Robbins but they have something for everyone. They have hard ice cream, yogurt, sundaes, shakes, and flurries. They even have banana splits. They were very busy on a Tuesday night, most likely due to the heat. The girls working the windows were very quick at helping everyone. Somehow the girl who helped us must have misunderstood our order because she gave our order to-go. There's not much "ambiance". It's a simple building with three windows for taking orders. Seating is simple - about half dozen picnic style tables. Parking fills up fast but you shouldn't have to wait long for a parking spot. If you're in the area, and in the mood for some really good ice cream, stop at Polar Cub. read more

How have I never reviewed a place that I have been going to for YEARS?! Honestly the best ice cream around. I know many have their own opinions on other places within a good radius of Polar Cub, but nothing has ever topped them and I have been to them all! Good price, good portion sizes. I even used to get extras for the dogs (when I had dogs). Nice little seating area as well. My preference here is definitely a good strawberry sundae with Soft Vanilla Ice Cream. Not sure what they do with that, but it tastes amazing. The only downsides I can think of are the parking situation. If it's a busy day, expect to park on the side of Rt. 22. Their soft serve is SO creamy and smooth that it feels unreal in your mouth. You also can't beat their prices -- a small cup of small serve is already super generous and only about $3. I also love how they do featured flavors every month! I tried the pistachio soft serve last month and it was super unique. It wasn't my favorite flavor but the texture was creamy and amazing. I recently tried their salted caramel soft serve and peanut butter soft serve (both featured flavors in August 2020), and they were delicious! This is my go-to ice cream place anytime I ever want something that is cheap and cheerful. They have a huge assortment of different types of ice creme, soft serve, and toppings. I've gotten almost everything they offer, from the dipped vanilla soft serve, to the banana split, to the brownie sundae. Everything is fresh, because of the high level of popularity and the high turnover rate. The best part of this place is how cheap the prices are compared to other ice cream shops. My favorite dish, the banana split, is less than $6.00 with tax, where it would usually be around $10-15 elsewhere, and every time I had it, it has been brilliant. I only heard great things, from awesome taste to huge servings. When I finally went I noticed that the menu was huge and confusing. There were tons of options but it was almost all toppings. There were only about 8 flavors of hard icecream (excluding chocolate!) and 4-6 flavors of soft serve. It was pretty cool that they included soft serve flavors like pineapple though. The hard serve isn't anything special and tastes like anything store bought, and the scoops were pretty tiny. (At least mine was) Now the soft serve is what you come for. The small soft serve is as tall as the cone it comes in, can be covered in any topping including various coating like a strawberry dip. Is definitely worth your money if you have a hankering for soft serve. I wish I had known before my visit. read more

One of my favorite ice cream spots in Hunterdon County. Somehow we always end up going here about 10 before closing and I always feel rushed. Believe it or not- even at that time the lines are super long. This place has a huge selection and I would most of it is pretty delicious! I usually get a twisty cone dipped in chocolate. Some days it's medium sized and sometimes it's so large that we end up having to share the cone! The parking is decent here as the lot is big- but the number of cars that flood into that place is crazy. We have had moments where on a Saturday night we end up having to park down the street and walk over to the shop. Either wait it's well worth it! I would recommend checking this place out if you are in the area and if you arnt- then come one down! Lol read more

Best ice cream in hunterdon county! The thing that sets them apart from the rest is that they put soooooooooo many toppings on. The hot fudge is throughout the entire bowl, top, sides, bottom. The servings are generous on all fronts. I always get oreos and hot fudge and have never once been anything but overjoyed with how much they give. The employees are always very easy to work with and always have great attitudes. Don't be frightened of the long lines-- the line could reach the street and I promise you'll be through it in about 5 minutes. They are incredibly efficient. (Helpful hint: if there isn't any parking, you can park on the side street next to it, and walk over. There are rarely cars that go down in) I suggest the mint chocolate chip, chocolate, or cookie dough, though I know you can't go wrong with any of their flavors. read more
