I first want to advise that this practice is made up of partners in the firm (much like a law firm)…read moreas well as therapists in training, therapists who rent office space and 2 psychiatrists who are independent contractors. Giving all of Pathway 1 star because you didnt have good results with one therapist is irrational and does not represent the entirety of the practice and the good it does in the community. All of the practictioners here take different types of insurance, some take Medicare and Medicaid, and have different hours and availability. I have been a patient of Darrin Bronfman, LCSW for over 9 years now. We meet together on a weekly basis to address issues related to my diagnosed bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder and PTSD. During the years i have taken jobs which required travel or had medical issues that kept me homebound and we still met via phone or Skype on a weekly basis. Mr. Bronfman has always made himself available for after hours coaching in emergency situations by email or phone. He takes more of a psychodynamic approach to therapy, combining cognitive behavioral and DBT concepts in as well. I have improved significantly in the last few years thanks to his coaching and support. Mr. Bronfman has also successfully met with friends and family members of mine over the years to help them understand my illness and behavior. For several years I was in a dating relationship and Mr Bronfman referred us to one of his trainees for couples counseling. The trainee was well educated and supervised throughout her work with us. She helped us come to the difficult yet necessary decision that our relationship was not sustainable. We appreciated her guidance and were able to remain friends beyond. The trainee has since gone on to maintain her own successful practice elsewhere thanks to her experience at Pathway. I attribute the work Ive done with Darrin to be critical to the improvements I have made in my illness, improvements I have made as a human being and in my personal and professional relationships. 9 years ago I could not hold down a dating relationship or job - now I work full time and have positive interpersonal interactions in all areas of my life. And bluntly put - without the connection I share with Darrin, i am not sure I would be alive today. Darrin thank you for everything youve done for me, and heres to the next 9 and more.

My family has been seeing Psychiatrist Dr. Shripal Makim since 2017. One of my children was…read moreseriously over medicated by our well meaning Pediatrician. Dr. Makim changed and eliminated meds, and within that 1 year, my son grew close to a foot taller and had his amazing personality back. With me, in Jan. 2021, I got Long-COVID and my mental health completely bottomed out for about a year. At that time, Dr. Makim insisted on FaceTime visits ONLY! (This was when the world was shut down due to Covid 19.) He insisted on being able to SEE me and made his diagnostic advices and treatments based on not just my voice and words, but also on how I appeared. I feel like he saved my life. I KNOW that he saved my life!! Outside of the doctors care is the business side. Some of their policies are a little strange, and sometimes the staff seems off, but they are always friendly, efficient, and none of us has ever waited more then 10 minutes - if we wait at all.

If you're black, DO NOT SEE MAHENDRA SHAH, MD. He is racist and lacks empathy for black people. I…read morethought because he was a poc he would be more empathetic. I was VERY WRONG. He did not try to make a emotional connection when I was struggling with the loss of my dad and moving to another state. He was very stoic and would pass judgement on me using cannabis at the time to help get through it. Instead of listening to my formal previous diagnosis of PTSD and binge eating disorder, his inability to connect or care about a black person left me with only the diagnosis of Bipolar (I have stable moods, I was literally experiencing mania due to being on a high amount of a antidepressant and I was in a state of panic due to being alone in a new state- something he chose to not acknowledge). Not only that but the only other diagnosis was Obesity. He did not help me, only was in it for the money. He would grunt when being asked to do calls instead of seeing him in person because of how uncomfortable he made me due to being insensitive and because I worked multiple jobs to *survive. He would rush me off the phone and in appointments and didn't care to empathize my lack of financial literacy and why I was having trouble with my life insurance. He offered no solutions, only made me see him every month then every 3 months for my medicine. He was not kind, did not try his best to help me, offer solutions or be empathetic and make me feel comfortable and seen. I regret wasting my money and time seeing him and wish I had chosen someone who cared more about helping me and diagnosing in a way to create a treatment plan instead of just for money and to meet a quota.

He is caring, doesn't over medicate, knows about all of my allergies to many medications. Dr. Akosa knows me as a person, not just a patient. The care you receive here is very good. Any practitioner we've encountered seems to really care…read moreabout the patients and genuinely wants to help. I gave them two stars because their billing department is an absolute nightmare. They do not pre-authorize visits appropriately, leaving you with unexpected charges of $400 + that you aren't notified of ahead of time, instead of your normal copay. This is not the first time we've had a billing issue with them, the billing office used to be in house now it's remote and you can't get anybody. Multiple times I have sat on hold for 30 to 45 minutes and then it disconnects instead of putting you through to someone. Or someone puts you on hold for half an hour and then it disconnects without them ever picking back up. So, good service from the providers, incredibly poor service from the billing department. Make sure you do your homework ahead of time and know what you're going to be paying. Contact your insurance company yourself because they're not always going to do it for you. The billing issue I'm having right now is for an established patient, no change in insurance, seeing a therapist that we were referred to WITHIN the office who knows our coverage. It is already so hard to find mental health providers and when you have kids who need help and are Asking for help, it is so frustrating when you can't do that for them because of issues like this. I will no longer have my card on file with them because they're going to charge it whether you know about it or not and it may not be what you're expecting.

Pro: I really liked the NP I was seeing. (5 stars). Con: A…read moreprovider is only as good as their support staff (2 stars) Before I get to the support staff, let's talk about the doctor. I was a patient for 3.5+ years before I spoke to him. Our first appointment was scheduled for 20 and billed for 30 minutes. Actual length? 7 minutes. He called me "my dear" several times which I think was an attempt to build rapport, but it landed somewhere between fake and lecherous. (2 stars for him) Back to the support staff, all offshore except the office manager. There is often a language barrier, like when the billing department called and asked to speak to "Doe Jane" instead of "Jane Doe" and referenced my recent visit with "Smith Mary." I usually need to call twice before someone answers the phone, and need to leave several messages before the provider gets them. On 2 occasions, I had a conversation with the NP where I mentioned trying to reach her several times and she said she never got a message until that day. Another time, the receptionist called and said, "[NP] wants me to tell you that she had an emergency and left early. She won't be able to call you today, but she will call you tomorrow." The provider hadn't been informed that I was looking for her. And didn't call back until I had left 2 more messages and spent 2 weeks thinking that she was purposely avoiding my calls. Another time, I left 2 messages for and emailed the office manager over the course of a week. When I called the next week and said I thought there was insurance fraud happening, she called me back immediately. Billing practices were explained in different incorrect ways by the billing department and then the office manager, both of which led me to believe there was insurance fraud happening. When I finally spoke to the NP, she explained it in 30 seconds and it made sense. Yes, the NP is good, but she doesn't operate alone. I stuck with her for nearly 4 years, but I finally got fed up with everyone around her.

If you ask to speak to a qualified medical doctor - a psychiatrist - you will be referred to a nurse practitioner. This entire chain does not have psychiatric medical doctors on staff; and their nurse practitioners are not directly supervised BY a medical doctor - which is really kind of hinky if you ask me. I suspect that this chain - LifeStance d/b/a Georgia Behavioral Health - is one of those vulture capitalist corporations where they try to scoop up all the insurance and Medicare dollars they can; wring what money they can out of the business and then crash and burn the whole thing, leaving patients hanging a** to the wind with no competent medical psychiatric care. Their main concern is not your health. If you need qualified psychiatric medical care - look elsewhere. If you want to get COVID-19, this might be a good place to start.

He said he believed they could accommodate that. Wrong. The company itself does not accept Medicare so I have to keep searching.
