I brought a friend with me. they weren't really hungry but wanted to go out anyway. They ended up ordering their own bowl and made comments that this exactly the kind of place they want to come to eat healthier. It was priced pretty reasonably and filling on top of that I would tell them that its a lot of rice, vegetables and protein but since its often themed around seafood, I feel good after eating. This place does offer cooked chicken or beef if you would like that. Raw fish like salmon or tuna that i had in my order gives a different feeling to those. Overall with the service of this shop, it is a good and straighforward experience where you order, ask questions, any add ons you might want, and they ask if you want to order any drinks at the end. I took my time picking from their menu. The online website mentions they sell bubble tea and sushi rolls in addition to poke bowls. In the shop the big sign to order from just had Poke options, a small sign for teas or smoothies, and i guess all the same ingredients they use for poke can be used for sushi so they probably didnt list it in the shop. They have paper takeout menus available that I did not look at so maybe the items online match that, but something to note if you view it in advance and don't see it in person. The bowl I had was very good, I was actually full enough where i took a bit of it home with me, to finish later. I would say the size proportions is good for 1 person. My friend I went with finished their bowl in the shop and was satisfied by the amount. I believe both of us will be returning to this shop to try other menu items with how approachable everything was. Taste, size, service, it all seemed good

Shaka Kitchen offers tasty, made-to-order Polynesian-inspired cuisine - protein and veggie bowls,…read morepoke bowls, acai bowls, tacos, quesadillas, and smoothies - with plenty of options for pescatarians, vegetarians, and vegans - crafted with fresh ingredients in a casual ambiance by friendly, knowledgeable staff. The experience reminds me of many of the local, fast-casual restaurants we've enjoyed while visiting the Hawaiian islands - although I didn't see an option to have SPAM with any of the dishes. Place your order at the counter, then have a seat at a high-top table while your food is prepared to order and served in plastic 'to go' containers with disposable eco-friendly forks. The taste and quality of the food does come at a price, as the prices are slightly higher than most of the other fast-casual options in the area, but it's worth it to me (as it should be to you). I had the Loco Moco bowl ($20), comprised of kalua pulled pork, brown rice (substituted for the white rice it should come with), cabbage and carrot slaw, scallions, crispy onions, and topped with a fried egg and kickin' lime sauce, which was VERY tasty. My dining companion had the Shaka Bowl with grilled chicken ($20), comprised of zucchini noodles, carrots, cucumber, scallions, cabbage, pickled onions, mango, and sweet chili sauce, which she really enjoyed. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP: Shaka Kitchen doesn't have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of on-street parking off South Street. Bring change or use the ParkMobile app for the meters ($1 per hour) Monday through Saturday from 8am til 6PM; all street meters are free Monday through Saturday after 6pm and all day on Sunday.

Poke Express in Fair Lawn is absolutely amazing when it comes to food quality and freshness…read more Everything tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared, and they offer tons of gluten-free options, which is a huge plus and not always easy to find. The ingredients are high quality, and you can really taste the difference. One tip: go in knowing what you want to order. The staff and owner are passionate and energetic, which is great, but it can feel a bit overwhelming if you're not prepared--especially since it's a very fast-paced environment. Once you get past that initial rush, it's smooth sailing. The value here is excellent. A poke bowl runs about $15-$17, and you get a large, filling portion--honestly enough for two meals. For the quality, freshness, and portion size, that price is more than fair. Overall, this is a spot I highly recommend. Incredible food, great gluten-free options, and solid pricing make it well worth the visit. Just come in ready, move fast, and enjoy some top-notch poke.

I truly believe these are some of the nicest people in all of Fair Lawn…read more I walked over to Poke Express last Sunday for my lunch break. It was a busy day at work, so I ordered ahead to pick up. When they realized I had walked over, the repacked my order into an easy to carry bag, since it had been placed in a box anticipating that I would be driving. Attention to detail here is outstanding. The restaurant is small but inviting, sunny & warm. The owners are caring & offer great suggestions for local events. I ordered sashimi, a real favorite, and it was delightfully fresh. They offered me a soda or a treat, but I declined because of my diet. If you're ever in Fair Lawn, visit Poke Express. Truly exceptional people working there.
