I love having a fresh and fast option in OTR - the fish is shipped in fresh every day and the serving sizes are hefty. I normally get a regular bowl (with all the toppings) and I always have enough left over for dinner. I had the Thai tea bubble tea that was a little too sweet, but the mango matcha tea was perfect and came with these cute little star shaped jellies. I finally took the plunge and went in for lunch after hearing about this place for months. Disclaimer: This was my first time ever trying Poke. It was easy to find parking right out front at about 1 pm on a Friday. It was moderately busy at that time but the line was moving quickly and there were still open tables. For the food, I ended up with the Kilauea bowl which had salmon and various veggies with whatever base you want. I got sushi rice because I love it! I kind of wish they had smoked salmon as an option like Fusian because it's a nice medium ground between totally raw fish and cooked protein. Overall, I thought my meal was just okay. Never having Poke before, I didn't really know what to expect but it just wasn't crave worthy. The flavors didn't seem to go well together (maybe it would be better to build your own) and it was expensive. A small bowl is $10 and extras like avocado are $1. In addition to the bubble tea I ordered, I ended up paying about $20 with a tip, which is too much for me for a quick/casual lunch. As for the service, it seems like the staff is still learning the complicated recipes, they use recipe cards. And some of them are still learning the ingredient names, for example I asked for edamame and the woman looked around for a while before finally asking what it was. The poor cashier was also in charge of making teas and would stop every few minutes to ring up orders. This meant I Didn't get my drink until I was halfway done eating and ready to go. I'm not sure what all these good reviews are. I guess no one here has ever had actual poke from Hawaii or a big city like New York. The amount of fish they put in the bowl is laughable. A could count on one hand the tiny amount of protein. It's called a poke bowl... not a random bowl of rice and toppings. Also the fried onion is usually somewhat crunchy, not stale. The other toppings seemed ok. If they add a reasonable amount of poke into the bowl then it would be a big time improvement. The milk tea was good, but I think it's pretty hard to screw up original milk tea. I'd skip this place if you want a bowl of poke that isn't trying to hide the 4 pieces of salmon under all the cheaper toppings. read more

As a raw fish lover, I was so pleased to find out poke hut had opened here in cincy! If i could, I would eat pokebowls every day of the week. Something about rice, salads, fresh, light fish and a variety of toppings is so appealing!. Ordering is like chipotle. You come in, tell them: 1) what base (zucchini noodles, salad, rice brown rice) you would like, 2) then tell them how many scoops of a protein ((marinated tuna/scallops, cooked chicken/pork/beef/shrimp, tofu veggies, or my personal favorite, the raw tuna/salmon) 3) and then choose your toppings( green onions, masago (kinda like tiny orange caviar), pineapples, imitation crab, furikake (dried seaweed topping), fried onion, radish, pickles, jalapenos, chiles, even hot cheetos!. Note some toppings are +1 (avocado, seaweed salad and tamago (sweet egg; check the server though!) They even have bubble tea/boba here! A good variety but the drink station is off to the right side and easily unnoticed. Tastes pretty good! It does get loud in the back with all the cooling/heating so its hard to hear sometimes. Don't feel bad to scream your order loudly so the workers can hear!! They're very nice and will explain what each item is if needed. I walked over from my job to this new restaurant, Poke Hut for a carryout. This was my first visit and the young lady who made my bowl was extremely helpful and patient! I ordered the 2 scoop make your own bowl with sushi rice, chicken, shrimp, free scoop of miso crab, red onions, scallions (yes I LOVE onions), mushrooms, furikake, jalapenos and yes fried onions! Street parking, which isn't the greatest but it also depends on what time you go (11-11:45 likely to find a parking spot nearby). It reminds you of Chipotle, Fusian, Fusabowl, and all the other restaurants in which you loudly, clearly express what you want. They offer bowls, burritos, and teas. I've only had the bowls. Choose brown rice, sushi rice, zucchini noodles, or spring salad mix. Regular bowl gets two scoops of protein ($9.50) and large bowl gets three scoops of protein ($11.00) - both include free scoop of miso crab mix. I usually get the ahi tuna and salmon, or shrimp if I order a large bowl. Choose all the toppings that tickle your fancy. Pay $1.00 extra for avocado/guacamole (rather small scoop). Sauces are plentiful. I usually get the one with sesame seeds in it, can't remember the name. Get sauces on the side just in case you don't like it. You are able to choose two sauces for free and pay for any over that. I love this place as the food is always fresh and I never leave filling full. They have cooked proteins as well. They are a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it for the quality, freshness, and variety of choices that they offer. First went on April 19, 2018 and returned 2 times since then. So I'm averaging about 1 visit per week. I work at Cincinnati Children's and this place is about 8 minutes away. Definitely worth the drive and the cost. read more

I found parking on the street pretty easily. The workers were welcoming and helped me order as I couldn't decide. I ended up getting a large with a mix of tuna, salmon and spicy tuna. My coworker and I just tried this place for lunch and it's awesome! The food is so fresh and there are so many options. There's everything from chicken, to marinated salmon to avocado to ginger to masago. Because you get two or three scoops of protein depending on the size, you can get different proteins with no extra charge like other places. They have many options for bases including zucchini noodle, sushi rice, brown rice, and lettuce. You can get a seaweed wrap or bowl. They also have a ton of juices and milk tea choices. I often find it tough for restaurants to be successful at street festivals and maintain the quality and integrity of their dishes. But, Poke Hut did not disappoint. In fact, I think they nailed it. Came here for lunch on a Friday, and I was stoked to find a tasty healthy lunch option! I got a large bowl and created my own. I got 3 proteins (spicy tuna, shrimp, and tofu), a free scoop of miso crab, one of the soy marinated eggs, edamame, cucumber, and seaweed salad, all over a bed of zoodles. I got a regular sized bowl and it was PLENTY of food. I would advice you to try the sauces before putting them all over your food. This is such an incredible, unique place in OTR. It's high quality cuisine but it's so quick and easy. I get the Poke.. and so far I've tried the Maui, Kilauea and Honolulu. All were incredible, and I like to add the Jaws Sauce on top and Spicy Mayo on the side (you don't need to do this- I just like a lot of flavor lol). I also am totally in love with the Umami Seaweed Salad. The Taro, Honeydew and Watermelon Milk Tea with tapioca. I get it at 50% sweetness! OBSESSED WITH THIS PLACE! We just stopped by here on the way to City Flea at Washington Park to get bubble tea. We got taro milk tea with tapioca and Thai milk tea with coffee jelly (the coffee jelly is on the paper menu inside, not on the menu outside or their website). The tapioca pearls were a little overcooked, the outer part of them being a bit mushy while the inside was hard. However, any bubble tea or drink place that lets you choose the sweetness without messing up the flavor gets an extra star for me. We picked 50% sweetness (and it says 75% is the standard and 100% is extra sweet, which is weird because why not make 100% the standard and make extra sweet by 150%?) Overall the teas met the standard. The $4.25 is for a not tall cup, maybe 12 oz? Which is reasonable in this neighborhood. The guy taking the order was very attentive and jotted down everything as we talked, drawing a line very impressively between each item. We'll definitely come back to try out their poke bowls sometime. Their inside seating is all closed down right now but they have a nice outdoor patio. read more

Pole hut is a really great fresh fast service addition to the neighborhood. Also, I'll never say no to more bubble tea in OTR! The pricing and portions are very fair (especially with their rewards program which allows you to earn points you can turn in for free food!). The staff, while always very polite, do seem often overwhelmed by online orders and the line, so they may need to beef up their staff a bit. Aside from that, we always have a very positive experience! There are tons of options, and they have veg stuff, too! I've already gone here twice in a week. Here is the thing with poke for me-- it has to be good and fresh, but with a veggie option so my husband and I can both enjoy. This place is great! First the most important thing-- YOU MUST GET THE PORK BUNS OR TOFU VEGGIE BUNS! Just do it. For the poke, love the option for zoodles or greens for a base (or the more traditional brown or white rice), their toppings are super fresh (yay for unlimited veggies!) and you get 2 sauces included (I like to cocktail the spicy yuzu and yummy sauce). I tried the Honolulu bowl the first time and made my own the 2nd time. I'm pretty sure my husband added every ingredient to his make your own bowl and the workers were very friendly and not at all annoyed. Also they deliver! They have both cooked and raw proteins from tuna, to crab, to pork (including delicious pork buns). I REALLY wish they had a better water system. Confession: I've never had poke before. I love sashimi though, so I've been wanting to try out this similar dish. We recently moved the OTR, and this place is right down the street. We tried it out on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the regular sized bowl, which was plenty of food for me. I got brown rice with one scoop each of naked tuna and salmon, as well as the miso crab. For toppings I had edamame, seaweed salad, marinated tofu, and red onion, all topped with shoyu sesame sauce. Everything was excellent and really fresh. The surprise for me was the marinated tofu and veggies, which was really excellent! I think we will be coming here often. read more

This restaurant delivers a taste of Hawaii with an Asian twist and plenty of customizable options to meet everyone's palate - all that is missing is some spam masubi! Fresh ingredients, flavorful sauces, and healthy tuna and salmon poke bowls will leave you wanting more without feeling guilty. Ordering is relatively straight forward, the restaurant offers around 5-10 preset combinations - you also have the option to 'make your own bowl'. First major decision point will be whether you want the traditional rice or the lighter vegetable base - I thought both were very good and was pleasantly surprised with the zucchini. Next comes the salmon, tuna, scallops, or tofu - with the salmon and tuna both having marinated versus plain options. Personally, being a poke fan, I really enjoyed the marinated tuna and salmon - perfect level of marination and did not take away from the natural flavors of the fish. Next you have a myriad of western and eastern fixings to choose from - personally, I chose a mix with corn, roe, avocado (+$1), seaweed, cucumber, and seaweed - enjoyed both the patience as well as the guidance from the server to help you select the perfect mix. Lastly, you wrap it up with a choice of sauce - basically you can choose from sweet or spicy options - I would recommend getting the sauce on the side as you can control how much you want, especially if you have never tried it before. The poke bowl was nothing short than exceptional. I was pleasantly surprised at the freshness of the fish (this was my top worry going in) and really enjoyed the combination of salmon and tuna. The flavors came together very nicely and the large size was just right amount. In addition to the poke bowl, we also ordered a side of the Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Well done and very authentic and reminded me of the night markets back in Taipei. The house also provided us a fried wonton and guacamole side - a unique twist the traditional guacamole and chips. Would highly recommend both as an accompany to your poke bowls. The restaurant also offers bubble tea - not kungfu tea - but I pretty good and a nice finish to the meal. There are several options available and appreciated the option to chose your sugar level as most restaurants bubble tea are overflowing with sugar. I've ordered from Poke Hut a few times, but have finally remembered to review. This food is sooooo yummy!! I've made my way through a lot of the vegetarian dishes and I can confidently say that the tofu buns are my favorite things on the menu--I was so pleasantly surprised to see that it comes 4 to an order! The plantains are also a must. I've had different variations of the "make your own" poke bowl and I am never disappointed. Everything packed with delicious flavor and so filling. I really enjoyed poke hut. The fish was fresh and there are so many great toppings. The small is actually a really good portion and more than enough to fill me up for dinner.
