In real estate the well-known mantra is "location, location..." and the Poke Hut in Cincinnati's Race Street has that in spades: in OTR, right next to Taft Ale House, Washington Park. Bingo! Of course, food matters, too. How about visibly, olefactorily very fresh ingredients, huge variety to please vegans, vegetarians and carnivores, in an almost mind-blowing diversity compared to the typical Poke Hut. Staff is very friendly, too. And the owners are checking in daily often for many hours to coach and cheer up the staff, discretely learn if customers have open wishes, and that makes it a homey, special atmosphere. But I was missing a live band, or an adjacent mini-golf course... ah, that was only in my fantasy dreams as I kept sipping the passion fruit yakult. This hyperdelivers on my Poke-Hut expectations. Moved to Cincy from California about 8 months ago and was sooooo excited when Poke Hut opened. In Cali I had numerous poke joints to choose from so I had high expectations since this was going to be the only poke place in the city. It does not disappoint. EVER. Our family has been to Poke Hut twice already and we love it! We could eat it everyday. My boys get the kids bowls and get to customize their bowl exactly the way they want it. I am super impressed with the variety, quality, and authenticity of the protein offerings and toppings. They have toppings for free that are typically extra cost at other restaurants, such as seaweed salad, daikon, miso crab, etc. I hope they open other locations! read more

My order was taken quickly and my bubble tea was made on the spot. It looks like they have a pretty cool rewards program and the prices are affordable which really encourages you to come back. I went into this restaurant to get something to eat while I had a little time before I did my 15x today which was only a hour long. I tried to order a kids bowl and the cook told me that the owner would not sell me a kids bowl, I was just trying to beak my fast with a little something to eat. I guess this food isn't for me. They've been having stellar reviews so some friends and I decided to go here to try something different than our typical get together at one of the many half-price sushi restaurants in Cincy. The interior is very hip and nifty. From pedaled, wagon high-seats, to the Hawaii meets Cincy wallpaper made by a Miami student graphic designer (I know a few details to how this divine place came to fruition from extensively talking with one of the owners Sally), to innovative gender inclusive restroom signage and more it's clear lots of peculiar detail was made. Sally was appreciative for she was the interior designer. She has an extensive background of enterprising restaurants for she grew up around one with her parents gig. I created my own sushi rice bowl which was fresh and you can get lots of options! I had to wait for an extended amount of time for my meat option they had to make but we got to sample many options and talk with the workers which was nice. For tea I got the fresh lemon honey green tea with passion fruit boba which wasn't a good option. Then they offered to make me another one, no additional charge, so I got a traditional milk based one. Again it wasn't doing hitting the spot of Boba/Bubble tea I'm used to. They saw I barely touched my Poke bowl and asked if I wanted to try another option. I didn't want to be difficult since my I was striking out with tea so I kindly didn't take up on the offer. Finally poke has come to cincinnati! Poke Hut is an adorable fast casual place with amazingly fresh fish and great toppings. My friends and I were commenting on how fresh the fish was and how difficult it is to have that in cincinnati. We were wondering how the owners do it. Definitely try the speciality milk teas. Loved the coffee milk tea with coffee gummies. Will definitely be a go to place for work lunches or picking up dinner after work. Must try!!! read more

The food was amazing. My only complaint is that the bathrooms are locked and when I asked about the code they told me to go find it in the cardboard box. They were busy and I had to leave to go somewhere else to use the restroom. It seems a tad extreme to lock them. read more
