Holy Sh**! That is the review from my husband after the first few bites into our meals at Hawaiian Poke and more off of 101ave. I would definitely have to agree with that sentiment. The restaurant is bright and welcoming when you walk in and the menu has a ton of options. Today we tried the Kalua pork and the short ribs and each meal was just mindblowing. Smokey savory and delicious, it was one of the best meals we have had in Edmonton. There was a good size too so even though we made a good dent there were leftovers. This place will be hard to beat if you are looking for some really fresh and delicious meals at a really great price. Love it and will be back soon. read more

Cute local place with fast service and a lot of flavours for fried salmon and tuna. Reasonably priced with a variety of other Hawaiian food as well. One disadvantage is that it does appear that a lot of the food is premade and some is heated to order. But it is a small place with affordable prices. And you should be going there for the raw fish poke anyway. read more

Always love stopping into Poke & More when we are in the Capilano area. This time we brought some friends in for their first taste. We tried a lot of menu items including the tender and juicy chicken, pork adobo, spam musubi, and salmon and tuna poke. We also tried the new inari bombs, all were so delicious!! And each bomb is a large 2-3 bites depending on your mouth. They were quite satisfying. I unfortunately did not get pictures of all my tasty items for some sad reason. But this place has it all. The ambiance is casual but super insta friendly with the beautiful Hawaiian decor, surfboard tables, and lollipops for the kids for dessert. I picked up food from Hawaiian Poke & More a while ago. The restaurant had a nice and welcoming atmosphere. The owner was very friendly and service was great as I was offered different flavours to try when I was debating on what to get. In terms of food, I got the Spicy Mayo Tuna Poke Bowl and Sweet and Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl, and I sampled the Wasabi Tuna. The tuna was fresh, was diced up into nice pieces, and was good with all the flavours. The spicy mayo flavour was good, creamy, and well balanced. I think it'd probably be better in burrito form (rather than a poke bowl). The Sweet and Spicy described the flavour quite well. It's a stingy kind of spicy that shines through and is quite unique in Edmonton. It felt similar to eating sashimi and it was good in a poke bowl style. For the wasabi flavour, it was more creamy than the typical wasabi so it had the wasabi taste but was also soothing. Overall, I'd give the experience 8.8/10 read more

Crazy that this small poke shop opened up in my old neighbourhood! And wouldntchaknow, it's a darn good little poke place too. On offer is salmon or tuna poke in 8 different flavours, poke burritos, a selection of Hawaiian lunch faves such as spam musubi (regular or crunchy), kalua pork, loco moco, teriyaki chicken and katsu. Some items are served plate lunch style with rice and mac salad. The kalua pork is really good, as is the mac salad! The poke burritos are definitely big enough for 2 meals, and the side wonton chips are surprisingly good. Crazier still that this little shop in an old neighbourhood makes food more akin to Hawaiian fare than these goofy, expensive chain chopped-fish-on-rice bowl places that put "poke" in their name. At Poke and More, you can just buy the fish in your choice of marinade, which is what I really want out of a poke place. I'd rather pay $14 for a half pound of tuna poke, than $15+ for a half pound of rice with a sprinkling of "poke" on top. But if poke bowls are your thing, they're on offer here too. Poke and More also offer party trays of poke and of many of their hot items, which would be perfect for a picnic or BBQ. I'm looking forward to surprising my Maui-loving family to some old favourites from the Island, especially as we won't be able to visit for the foreseeable future. Ordered takeout from here a few weeks ago. It's located in a less popular area and more of a hole in the wall place. Service was friendly and they let you try 2 samples if it's your first time going. There's also multiple hand sanitizers located inside the place. My partner and I ordered the crunchy spam masubi, sweet & spicy tuna, and sweet & spicy salmon. The crunchy spam masubi was soo good. Definitely order this if you come here. The tuna and salmon were good as well. I found the tuna to be more fresh than the salmon. The poke is a bit pricey for what you get compared to other poke places in Edmonton since they offer more toppings for a better price. I get that this may seem more authentic due to the simplicity of how the food is offered so it depends on a person's preference when it comes to poke. read more

This place is really cute inside although we to begin with we decided to sit in, and it isn't super comfortable. Seating is for looks only. There was only one staff working, so the wait time was long.  Pretty traditional menu for poke. I had the spicy tuna mayo, my husband had the chicken teriyaki and I took a salmon poke bowl home and some fries for my kids. We also ordered a spam masubi. Wait was long. Sooo long. Food was okay. I was expecting more toppings with the poke as options, but perhaps this is the more traditional way to serve it. The salmon and tuna were well flavoured. However, since we were dining in, I was hoping for actual dishes and not styrofoam containers.  My husband's chicken was well flavoured but a little dry, however I really loved the small macaroni salad that came with it.  However the best thing we tried was crunchy spam masubi. Perfectly cooked, and a big comfort food. We left early because it was absolutely freezing inside. I waited until my husband finished his hot dish and we took the rest to go. If you are paying these prices I would suggest having some things that most poke places have to add on to the dish to make the dish more individual and flavourful with the contrast of tastes and textures ( say cucumbers, seaweed salad, cabbage, pineapple, green onion, nori) Even though this place is much closer to me and parking is much better, I would rather go downtown where it is similar price, totally quicker (probably three quarters quicker), and more choices in toppings. If I had the time to wait I would for sure go in for spam masubi. I don't know anywhere else that does this and it was delish. And I don't even like spam. Otherwise I would skip this and go downtown to some of the other poke places where you can make the bowl how you want it. read more

It doesn't feel like Hawaii with ice on every sidewalk and parking lot but that changed inside this little café. Hawaiian Poke and More has a definite Pacific vibe happening with the surfboard tables as the most prominent thing that we don't see in Edmonton, (for some reason surfing has never really caught on in Edmonton). This is a small place but they probably do a lot of take-out orders. In fact, the lady at the counter was constantly on the phone with take out customers. This gave us time to order. We selected teriyaki chicken and pulled pork. I know, how Poke is that? Well I enjoy sushi and sashimi but I prefer to order it at larger, more specialized restaurants. A friend from Japan told me that it takes years to become a sushi chef in Japan so I'm wary of small, fast food places that sell sushi type foods. That's just me though and besides, somebody has to try the cooked meats too. My pork was tender with subtle flavours of smoke. It came with two scoops of rice and a mini pasta salad. My wife let me taste her teriyaki chicken and it had a bolder flavour that she really enjoyed. We were both surprised not to find any veggies on our plates. I would have thought that Hawaiians eat lots of fruits and vegetables. That's the only reason I didn't give this café five stars. The owner is very Covid-19 aware as she checked out vaccine passports and there is hand sanitizer on each table. They didn't sell coffee but she gave us a large bottle of water to fill our cups so that was appreciated. I've been meaning to try out a Poke place for years but just hadn't gotten around to it. Now I have done Poke, well sort of anyway. Maybe next time I'll try something a little more authentic. If you are into Poke I'm sure that you'll enjoy this owner operated Poke Café. This poke was simple but very delicious! I didn't know rice could taste SO good! And those onions with the tuna. Wow!! Also tried the Teriyaki Chicken dish and I highly recommend. It was very crispy and the sauce it came with was once again very tasty and was so good with the chicken. I also bought some chilli oil and crispy garlic. I love this place. I'm Hawaiian and I've spent my entire life eating these foods when I'm back on the island. All the poke tastes exactly as it would at any Foodland counter (iykyk) and the other dishes taste every bit as authentic as well. Love that the hot meals are made fresh to order although it takes some time. I've nearly worked my way through the entire menu and everything has been great! Highly recommend the Kalua Pork (my favorite island grindz) and you can't go wrong with any of the salmon poke. (Tuna is great too but sometimes it has a bit of a fishy taste to me... I could just be crazy though seeing as my boyfriend thought it was fine.) Also, hats off to the crunchy musubi! Must try! I didn't think a spam musubi could get any better but eating one covered in panko, all warm and crispy was a religious experience. So happy this shop opened! I wasn't much of a fan of other trendy poke shops around the city (call me stuck in my Hawaiian ways if you will) but now I have a place to go that makes me (or just my mouth) feel like I'm right at home! read more

Really great Hawaiian spot with authentic poke (by the pound, in burritos or bowls) and hot food. Loved the crunchy spam masubi which wasn't greasy and maintained crunchiness after traveling home. The poke burrito was delicious - the different textures and ingredients kept it from being tiresome and we appreciate the extra sauce on the side. For poke flavour, skip the spicy mayo (pretty bland) and go for the sweet and spicy or kimchee for kick. We tried the kalua pork but it wasn't our favourite - the rice was quite mushy so I'd give it a skip next time. We're here for the poke and spam! read more

Nothing fancy here but the food was good. I tried the Spicy Tuna with rice and the Crunchy Spam Musubi. I would skip the rice next time and take the tuna by itself or add rice at home. I liked the musubi. Prices are high but not beyond the average prices for poke in Edmonton. If your looking for poke and want to support a small, local shop rather than the chains then this is the place for you. If your looking for an Instagram-worthy bowl then go elsewhere. read more

This place opened quieter than G's in lasagna. However the week it opened my IG feed was full of pictures of the Hawaiian food here and was tempted to go. The poke here is incredibly good. They have any flavor you could think of in salmon or tuna, half or full pound options. It a lot to take in while they have flavors that range from sweet to super spicy. What we ordered was incredibly tasty for poke. I had the spicy seaweed tuna and it was well marinated. One downside is that you can only eat this poke with white rice which wasn't great. Definitely should've opted for some mixed green salad or brown rice as the white rice was unappealing at times. The item that most likely will bring people through the door is the Crunchy Spam Musubi. While it was crunchy, it was full of rice in the middle. I didn't really couldn't taste the spam, just white rice. They honestly need to figure out these ratios, I suggest at least a cm thick piece of spam and half a cm of rice on both sides of the spam. (i'm not an actual chef it's just that i've been to hawaii a zillion times). The location in Capilano used to be a terrible donair spot. I know this because I used to live closeby and it was gross af. Despite the locations past history, the restaurant is small and food is ordered up front. Kinda lazy tbh as there were 4 workers in the back just looking at you to pick up food. Regardless the poke here is good stuff and for the most part should be enjoyed at home with some tostitos. The lady who owns this place is so friendly! I was so excited to eat actual Hawaiian food while on a business trip in Edmonton. It was a highlight of my trip to eat here. I will be back - because I didn't get to try everything! The poke is legit! Although they can't make some of the authentic versions due to ingredients that aren't available in Canada- it is still worth the visit. The cute Hawaiian atmosphere let's you feel like you're on a mini vacation in these odd times of 2020/21. The Poke here is Excellent! The reason why there is no toppings at this restaurant for the poke is that this restaurant serve's its Poke just like they do in Hawaii.
