Some things to be aware of: This cruise is on a catamaran; some of our party were expecting a small cruise ship that would have been a smoother ride. Waves are bumpy, and the windier parts of the trip resembled a mild roller coaster--if that's not your thing or you know you can experience some motion sickness, please factor that into your decision to book a trip. That being said, one person in our party experienced some light motion sickness and was really well cared for by the crew. We really appreciated their kindness and support. If you have sturdy sea legs and an adventurous spirit, I'd highly recommend this excursion. The views of Kauai from the ocean are worth it alone, but the information from the captain and crew about the island and its culture are also super valuable. The whole experience also felt very safe; the cruise will not go to areas with high wind/surf, and on our trip the captain explained why he was turning out of the wind/waves when he made that decision.

We saw multiple breaches, tail slaps, fluke dives, and surface activity--the whales were active the entire time. The crew positioned the boat so well that we were able to stay in one great viewing spot and still see everything without moving around. The crew was incredibly attentive without being overbearing. Drinks and snacks were always taken care of--Mai Tais, coconut cookies, and snacks kept coming--and it genuinely felt effortless to just relax and enjoy the experience. The team was knowledgeable, calm, and respectful of the whales, offering helpful context without over-talking. The boat was comfortable, well run, and the two-hour length felt just right. The playlist on board was spot on, setting the perfect vibe. I wish I could find it on Spotify! Despite the weather, the views were breathtaking, and getting a little drenched just added to the adventure. The food was delicious, especially the smoked pork, salad, and fresh fruit, and my husband loved the mai tais. Even without the sunset, the whole experience was magical. After chatting with other travelers, I'm convinced we had one of the best tours available. especially after talking to a couple at our hotel pool who had paid more than we did and only got snacks limited alcohol. Since it had been so long, we wanted to do it again. So Tod found this company online and booked it. We are experienced freedivers, so he called ahead of time asking if the captain would be able to visit the Sheraton caverns. Captain said yes if conditions are good! Fast forward to the very next day, we arrive at check in where we met Anna. There was only 1 other guest on our tour, so essentially we had the whole boat to ourselves. Pretty cool! So thankful they didn't cancel on us as I know some boats have to when there is little occupancy. She went over all safety. While waiting, cute neighboring cows came over to say hi. We head down to the ramp and we meet Drew the captain. Anna let Drew know that we are freedivers so he definitely made sure we visited the caverns. It was so full of life, tons of turtles. Clarity was great. So awesome. Then they took us to PK and that location was teaming with life also! Even a turtle cleaning station right next to the boat about 15/20 ft down. So cool! The zodiac boat is definitely a rush, and you will get a little arm workout while holding on. Drew played great music, and Anna gave us some history on a couple spots. The shop itself is small, but well stocked. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Our instructor for the dives was Devon. She was very knowledgeable and patient with our group. She made the dives fun and educational at the same time. Her passion for diving was infectious. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an instructor or even just a guided dive. For the Enriched Air Diver course our instructor was Reid. He too, was very knowledgable and an excellent teacher. Also, when one of our divers had to cancel one of the course dives they were very accomodating in rescheduling his dive for later.
