We booked 3 cottages at Chito Beach Resort in Sekiu, Washington. My brother and his wife stayed in The Birdhouse (whose deck officially became our favorite hangout spot) We spent many memorable hours there, enjoying the ever changing views of the sea, wildlife, and spectacular sunsets. My sister stayed in The Wolf Den. I stayed in the cottage adjacent to hers, The Lighthouse.  I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Lighthouse Cottage. The bed was soooo comfy. Water pressure was great. So much attention was paid to every charming little detail. Nothing was overlooked.  And that view!  On Saturday night the owners, Tamara and Matt had a little get together around the bonfire with all of the guests at Chito Beach. (There are a total of 6 cottages) They were wonderful and gracious hosts who served us beverages and DELICIOUS appetizers. They made us feel very welcome there.  After I got back home, I sorted through the MANY photos that I'd taken, and decided which ones to post on Facebook.  As gorgeous as some of them are, I think some of the pictures of the sunsets at Chito Beach are even more stunning than my photos of the Cape.  Especially on our last night there. Truly magical and almost otherworldly Our time there was an experience that our family will treasure forever.

We chose to stay here because it was nearby where our family members were staying. after having read past reviews, we didn't come in with the highest expectations and unfortunately, while it wasn't the worst experience, it was definitely lacking to the point where we do not think we will return in the future. We stayed in the Pacific Rim Suite which is listed as being in the main lodge. Well, it most certainly is- it is directly across the tiny hallway from the main desk. This means you hear the office phone ringing and all the interactions between staff and other guests. To add to this, the room is not very soundproof at all- we could hear the entire conversation of those staying in the room behind/beside us. The room was clean but as previous reviews have mentioned, bring your own bottled water because the tap water definitely has a brown tinge to it. A small coffee maker, coffee, kettle, microwave and mini fridge are provided which is nice, but you need bottled water to make your coffee which they don't provide. The biggest issue we had was breakfast and the lack of staff presence... we were asked when we checked in what time we want breakfast- 8:30 or 9:30. We said 9:30. On our first morning, it was 9:40 and when I went to check on breakfast another guest told me she still hadn't received her 8:30 breakfast... when I finally tracked down a staff person I was told their chef didn't show so she, who is an office person, was doing it all but she knows we need ours. Well, over an hour passed and as we got closer to 11am we had not heard anything else or seen staff so we assumed we were not going to get our breakfast and left to find food elsewhere. We did receive our breakfast the second morning which was decent- it came with scrambled eggs, has browns, sausage, a bit of fruit and a croissant. The reason I am allowing the missed breakfast to dictate the rating I am giving is because nothing was done about it. No apology, no offer to provide any sort of compensation or small discount on our bill. when I mentioned it to the staff person upon checkout she told me the breakfast is complimentary so she doesn't think they would reduce my bill. I don't care if it's complimentary- something should be done to acknowledge the major inconvenience it caused (we were starving by the time 11am rolled around and there are very limited food options in Port Renfrew). We weren't asking for a free night or anything- even $10 off would have been a nice gesture. We checked out two days ago and have not heard a word from management. We do not plan on returning next time we come to Port Renfrew.

We stayed in the Pandora Yurt. The Yurts look over the Strait of Juna De Fuca and the Olympic Pennisyla. Our Yurt has hardwood floors, a gorgeous view, privacy, serenity and a luxurious wilderness experience. Included in your stay is a full service breakfast, with pancakes and eggs to order coffee, tea, juice. A fantastic 3 Course dinner is offered each evening. The food was harvested locally. Salmon caught that morning, mushrooms picked in the woods, blackberries mixed into handmade ice cream. All The food prepared by Tim and John was absolutely incredible. We were glad we made dinner reservation and ate our dinners at Soule Creek. This was our first time staying in a Yurt and it was incredible.

Please don't be misled by the words "luxury" and "resort" in the property's name. It is neither luxurious nor resort like. CONSTRUCTION: The property currently feels like an active jobsite. I'm a construction project manager and spend my days on jobsites, so I'm not sensitive to construction - but this site is managed poorly for a hospitality environment. Guests walk and drive through dirt, dust, equipment, and partially fenced areas, and the "reception" is a small, dirty jobsite trailer. Noise wasn't a problem, but the overall environment was not guest ready. CHECK-IN: Check in is limited to a single one-hour window (4-5pm), which created a long line in a cramped trailer with no privacy. The staff member was kind, but the process was uncomfortable and inefficient. UNIT CONDITION (46A): As you read other reviews, please note that some units are new, and some are 10 - 12 years old. We were in an old "ocean view" unit, which was worn and overdue for a refresh: stained and worn carpet, damaged and stained furniture, loose trim, missing shower caulking, a soft shower pan, nonfunctional lamps, a fireplace missing its glass cover, and sliding doors that were broken or extremely difficult to operate. Windows also needed cleaning - and when you're there for the view but have to look through dirty glass, it defeats the purpose. PROVISIONS: Supplies were minimal. Only one dishwasher pod was provided for a four-night stay (even though we are required to run the dishwasher upon leaving), and towel quantities were extremely limited. For two people, we received: two bath towels, one hand towel, one washcloth, one kitchen towel, and one kitchen washrag. We had to wash towels mid stay. Additionally, guests are asked to take out their own trash, which is not typical of a property described as a "luxury resort." LOCATION: SookePoint Cottages are at least a 30-minute drive from Sooke along a narrow, winding road. This makes every outing time consuming. The location is inconvenient unless you plan to stay onsite most of the time. Once you leave for the day, you're unlikely to return for lunch or a break and then head out again. Sooke and the surrounding area are beautiful - do yourself a favor and stay in Sooke proper, not out in East Sooke. UNEXPECTED CHARGE: After checkout, I received a charge for a "steak knife," which we did not use or remove. I contacted the resort directly and was told that we had broken the knife. This was an unpleasant final impression.

We stayed in the motel but there are lots of hookups and campsites and even tie-ups for boats. We were there in early November off-season so it was extra quieter than the summer might be. Our room had a big living room with huge windows so the open sky and bay waters were visible no matter where we stood or sat. A decently outfitted kitchenette, a small dining table with chairs, and a TV with very good reception. Free WiFi. The living room contains a big bed (maybe a king?), too.. The back bedroom is cozy with both a twin bed AND a queen. There is a rack with hangers and a shelf and a window to open. A small bathroom completes the layout. I gotta compliment housekeeping. Older places can be hard to make feel really, really clean yet this place is spotless. Really really clean. The sheets are the crispest, smoothest, sharpest ever and still soft and comfy. The bedmaker gets 10 stars! Price very good and staff responsive and helpful. Recommended a pleasant spot for a burger and a beer (which I would recommend but can't remember their name!). Sekiu is a charming little town. Stop in and spend a night or two at Van Ripers!!! I will be, for sure. Thanks, folks, for a perfect stay. 5 stars easily.

I can see this being a little home away from home for fishermen or others. - Great price - booked it on Orbitz I believe and it was super cheap for what we got. - Location was perfect for what we needed for a road trip through the Olympic Penisula - centrally located. - Fantastic view at all times of the day. Right at the water's edge. Cons: - It got really hot in the room. We kept all the windows open in the room and just kept our curtains closed the entire time. That made it better but still quite toasty. - No tub, just a shower - The shower also had a leaky faucet so we had to be creative with how to deal with the drippy drippy water noise.

We particularly enjoyed sitting around the fireplace and eating dinner in the upstairs suite. The upstairs suite is HUGE and could fit a whole family all on its own. It doesn't come with breakfast though, so be forewarned! I stayed in the nautical room with a half bath and two twin beds. It was perfect for me and I slept well. I was a bit jealous of my co-worker in the quilt room because he had a jacuzzi! Unfortunately, the hostess Sandy was called away for an emergency, so we never got to meet her. She had a friend step in to help check us in and make us breakfast. She did a great job, especially on short notice. I actually would love to go back in the summer with my own family to explore the area and enjoy Sandy's hospitality all over again. The town itself was pretty much closed down since we visited in December. I bet it is more happening in the summer. Bring your own lunch and dinner foods or else your options will be limited to gas station food in the winter.

The view from the patio, where (weather permitting) Sandy serves her homemade from scratch breakfasts is nothing short of spectacular. You can eat your French Toast prepared by Sandy on the patio facing the Clallam River lazily flow into the Strait of Juan de Fuca or and watch the Bold Eagle being picked on by couple of crows. In the background you can see Vancouver mountains and fishing vessels and big cargo ships as well. Overall my experience was such as I was visiting an aunt for the summer. I will definitely be going back.

When I requested a refund, the property said that the manager would be in tomorrow to discuss it. Two days later the manager called me and said the following. "You will not be getting a refund in this universe, and we are I hear you are looking for a refund, and this will NOT happen in this lifetime!" then they hung up. They claimed the room was unrentable after we had left the property, see the attached "evidence" of the mess we left! We had some food when we checked in, used the bathroom, and left as soon as we saw the BED BUGS! My only regret is not taking photos of the bedbugs. ZERO STARS, and TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I wanted to like this place but booking through Orbitz led to a disastrous experience. When you…read morecheck into a hotel, you want it to be smooth and easy, but this was quite the opposite. First, the parking and registration is not so easy. If you're carrying luggage, be prepared to wheel it down a windy path toward a the reception door. When we were asked for a travel voucher, to which we presented the Orbitz reservation number; however this was not reflected in any reservation for The Latch Inn. They were also booked with no availability, so we had to find other lodging accommodations. We called to ask for an earlier check in since the Orbitz reservation indicated check in only from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. But at 3:15pm there was no answer at The Latch Inn, so we left a message. At 6:10pm a representative from The Latch Inn called us to ask what the message was because she could not find our reservation. Bad experience with Orbitz and with this situation. I am open to management response.

There were two gentlemen working there - not sure if they were brothers or not, but they were overwhelmed with the breakfast service. While the food was very good, the service was painfully slow - plan for in excess of one hour for breakfast, even if there are only 3-4 other tables. When I think of an Inn, I anticipate a caretaker with a lot of knowledge of the area. The two men working had a huge language barrier thus we stuck with the basic communication. And yes, you will hear your immediate neighbors very clearly.
