Stayed at the latch this past weekend and was super wonderful!!! Stayed in the governors room for one night. They have a lovely sitting room and fireplace. The bed was very comfortable. Frances and peter were super helpful and great. Would definitely recommend. The breakfast was also delicious.

The fridge and kitchen were well stocked, the entire quarters were extremely clean. The bed, was one of the best I literally have ever slept in! The views cannot be beat, and the ocean right across the road how can you complain? The view from the house itself is amazing, and Shelley has created an oasis in the back yard! You have access to the BBQ, and beautiful sitting areas out back. It is close to transit, and you can walk to Sidney in under a half hour with paved walking trails all the way. Or you can walk along the ocean, it is rocky though not sandy, so that is something to be aware of. I walked in the ocean, found it easier :) Victoria is a mere 20 minute commute, and some tourist attractions like Butchart Gardens, a little less. We found it close to all we needed, and away from the "hustle" of downtown Victoria.

I can't say it enough, this is one inn you dont want to skip if you're even on the Olympic Peninsula. and wonderful staff will have you feeling like a VIP. The common area is beautifully and stylishly furnished. They will supply you with clean, warm blankets to snuggle up to as you sit by the fire pit for Happy hour, which takes place every afternoon. The breakfasts are very tasty, and it's clear that great pride goes into their preparation and presentation! And might I say the garden area overlooking the sea is a slice of paradise. The grounds are lush and private enough that you're not running into other guests very often. The hubby and I loved the Lavender suite, which has a great view of the garden and sea. The bath was spacious and upscale as well. If you need ideas and suggestions for how to explore Olympic National Park, just ask. You won't be disappointed with the recommendations you receive. Yes, you will pay more than you might at a local hotel. But the experience here at Colette's makes it worth every penny. Don't ever change!

Would have gotten 5 stars except for the following; 1. Each time you come or go you have to get out of your car and manually open/close the gate. For what they charge for rooms they should have an electric gate and give people the code. 2. Breakfast is only served at 9AM, and often you want to get out early to beat the crowds to hiking/scenic places. 3. The ice machine has been broken for quite some time, so if you want ice later in the evening you need to hope the house manager is around. Otherwise it is a wonderful place to stay.

My friends and I got together really just to visit and catch up, with no real plans for activities in mind. The property gave us plenty of room to spread out in comfort, and a spacious kitchen and dining area to come together for meals. We made use of the large deck area as well, with the beautiful fire table and seating area. There is a hot tub on the deck as well, but it was not available during our stay. The property was clean and well-equipped, with enough kitchen equipment and basic ingredients for us to prepare anything we needed. We were impressed by how roomy it was, and the house is furnished with rustic pieces that felt very relaxed and cozy. The property had no TVs when we stayed there, but this was not a problem for us as we came there to visit. There is internet service on the property, which was sufficient to supplement the sometimes spotty cellular reception. Mayne Island has numerous places to discover, including a great outdoor pub, some wonderful casual dining spots, and some amazing walking areas. We ventured out for walks down to nearby beaches and saw quite a bit of local wildlife, including a number of sea birds. We also took several drives around the island, visiting St. John Point, and Campbell Point trail, which takes you through a beautiful forest of arbutus trees. There are a few small grocery stores on the island, but I would recommend a larger shop on the mainland before catching the ferry across, as we did. There is a wine/liquor store on the island as well, and the Mayne Island Brewing Company sells its beers by the bottle, as well as offering tastings and pints to stay. I loved our stay at The Grove, and we are already making plans to return. This is a great spot for a family or larger group who wants to gather in some peace and quiet on beautiful Mayne Island.
