Quite possibly the worst stay in my life. We were very excited about the stay due to all the reviews and pics but very disappointed as soon as we enter the room. It was very old, not well maintained and above all not cleaned well. The sheets were old and had several hair as if they weren't washed from previous stay. What bothered me further is that the host Jeff was adamant about it and just won't listen to our request. It was a horrible experience and I wish I could have avoided this place as it simply ruined our experience. read more

I've only stayed at one other B&B and so I don't have many comparisons, but I really enjoyed my stay. The neighbourhood was quiet but walkable to many attractions (about a mile to the ocean and downtown). Our room was huge and we had a balcony which we shared with the guests next door. For dinner, we bought bread, cheese and salami from the thrifty foods grocery about 1 km away and ate on the balcony. Breakfasts were unique - bibimbap on our last day. Friendly staff. I felt like I was staying at a family member's home. read more

We can't say enough about how much we loved staying there. The location is perfect. We left right at home. Erin is the best, she helped us some much before and during our stay. We look forward to staying there again. read more

I was very disappointment with my visit to Abbeymoore. I stayed at the queen garden suites at the corner, the room does not look like the pictures at all. The name sounded beautiful but the room is actually a basement. The windows are small and the room is very dark. The decor is also very normal and not 'victorian' like. There is also a moldy smell since it is basically underground. You will also hear the ceiling crack when people are walking around in the restaurant above stairs (which starts pretty early). I would expect the upstair rooms to be much better, so beware when booking your room. The breakfast was the only highlight of my stay. It is very extravagant with two courses and nicely prepared. read more

Abbeymoore Manor is an absolute must if you're looking for the perfect getaway. It is tucked away in the beautiful neighborhoods of Victoria. My boyfriend and I came up to Victoria for a birthday weekend and met our most amazing host, Jeff. He was constantly entertaining us, and we felt at home every moment. The breakfast was so delicious, fresh and varied. Honestly, it was better than most restaurants. Coffee and small nibbles were available throughout the day. Our room was magical - a large comfortable bed, beautiful balcony with a table and chairs and a fantastic bathroom. It was clean, spacious and decorated nicely. Thank you, Jeff, for your wonderful hospitality! We look forward to our next vacation in Victoria. I rate this B&B 5 stars without any hesitation! read more

We've stayed at a number of bed and breakfasts over our five year marriage, however nothing prepared us for this one! Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, this gem of a mansion is run by a bunch of guys whose whole aim is to make your experience incredible. The breakfast was just incredible, homemade from scratch. From blueberry tarts to Bibimbap with marinaded pork loin, everything was just delicious. The living quarters and rooms were immaculate with a historically preserved wood finish. This place was something out of a fairytale. We highly recommend this magnificent bed and breakfast! read more

A good bed and breakfast should obviously have a good bed and a good breakfast. This did both extremely well without being cliche. We booked the Garden Suite which has a living room, kitchen (with cooking stuff!), dining room, private bathroom, and bedroom. It's located under the main floor, so you get your own entrance. This does mean you have to go outside to get to the breakfast area, but no biggie. Lots of privacy. The other rooms are all upstairs and seem nice as well. There is more than one Garden Suite, but only one of each of the other rooms. The bed is cozy with lots of pillows, covers, high quality sheets, and a nice size--it seems a little longer than a regular queen. Oh, and it's so much cleaner than a hotel. It smells fresh! Btw--you get free wireless. A little slow, but still usable. Breakfast was delicious, and you can eat with people, at a small table, or on the porch. We chose to sit with people and it was nice to compare notes. Ian (co-owner) came around and made sure everyone was getting along nicely. The house is cozy as well with a fireplace. You get a key to your room and the front door of the place. When we checked in, they let us check in early and our room was available (we notified them ahead of time). We got to find out about attractions, suggestions for food, etc. Even details like when to get to the Butchart Gardens--they also provided us with a blanket and umbrella for it! For the room, breakfast, free parking, and quiet neighborhood near some attractions (Craigdarroch Castle and Lieutenant Governor's mansion) . . . great deal! You can stay at a cheaper hotel, but there are other charges there you don't have here, and the experience is so nice here. It's like staying with family without any awkward family moments. If/when we return to Victoria, we will stay here. Oh, and don't forget to check the dining area throughout the day for snacks they make--cookies, bars, etc.--yum! read more

Lovely vintage B and B in a great neighborhood just a short walk to Craigdarroch castle. My basement flat had a full kitchen, sofa bed and separate bedroom and bath and was sparkling clean. There is a lovely garden right out the door with table and chairs to enjoy the afternoon sunshine. Will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Victoria BC. read more

Spectacular and wonderful! Renewed our faith in B&Bs. The Abbeymoore Manor is hands-down, the nicest and most special B&B we've ever had the pleasure of staying in. The Lilac Room was very comfortable and romantic, and Anne is a fantastic host. We can't say enough about the delicious gourmet breakfast that was served to us on the veranda in the morning. The Rockland neighborhood is a little bit far from the "action" of downtown, but you'll enjoy the quiet of the neighborhood. Close by are the wonderful gardens at Government House as well as Craigdarroch Castle, which is also worth a look. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Abbeymoore. You'll love every minute. read more

Abbeymoore is a quaint four-bedroom and two-suite bed and breakfast located in Victoria B.C. This location is across the street from the Governor's House (incredible gardens and I saw online they host a tea time from Spring through summer). Abbeymoore (I think) is a historic building that is part of the historical society. This Bed & Breakfast is charming in every way, easy to spot from the road and just enough spots for those staying with them. Every morning breakfast is served in the breakfast nook around 8 am. A menu of items is provided day off, but they do an amazing job at accommodating allergies! I'm lactose sensitive (no cream, soft cheeses, etc) and they were able to accommodate this easily. I'm unsure about cross contamination if guests have severe allergies, but sure that if you call ahead of making a reservation you will know whether they can accommodate or not. The check-in process was quick and clean. There was a gentleman waiting for us near the front door. The entry door code and wifi code are provided when you book the hotel. I like this process as it furthers the feeling of staying with a family friend or relative. There is complimentary small snacks, refrigerated drinks, and hot water available throughout the day. At breakfast a carafe of coffee is brought out along with apple cider mix and tea. The room itself was gorgeous! We were in a room with the claw footed tub, amazing piece of history and (I heard) one of the most popular rooms. The walls aren't paper thin, like in most hotels, but you can still hear footsteps of people walking up and down the stairs. Rooms are equipped with hangers and a robe in the closet, outlets, an alarm clock, and bathrooms with basic amenities (hair dryer, soap and shampoo, toilet paper, and facial tissue). I did enjoy the added bonus of a small tray with facial tissue, chocolates, and magazines of local attractions and shopping recommendations. All in all, I would gladly return! read more

- MAGICAL - ROMANTIC - INVITING - WARM SPIRITED - DELICIOUS *5 STARS* !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ian's himself, which makes him A GREAT HOST :) - A friendly nature you can't fight off. Anne's an AMAZING COOK!!!! Simple, yet detailed oriented. - You can taste the LOVE. The woman of my dreams and I stayed here 3 nights to attend a wedding and I, selfishly, felt like we were on our honeymoon. We were welcomed with open arms, given our keys, and told to make ourselves at home. HOME IT WAS, AND A BEAUTIFUL HOME AT THAT. Clean, neat, green, and overflowing with comfort - a hard standard for the justifiably picky, but matched!! THANK YOU for making OUR FIRST TRIP TO CANADA a memorable one, one we'll look forward to experiencing again and again. We use our coffee mugs everyday.. XO Los Angeles, CA, USA read more

I can not agree with the five star gushing about Abbeymoore. It was fine, and my complaints are, I suppose, relatively minor ones, but it is not five stars. First, while it's located in a nice residential area -- and close to Government House, the Lt. Governor's residence and gardens (the latter are lovely for a morning stroll) -- it's a bit far from central Victoria, so driving there is the most likely way in. Thus, if you don't have a car, it could be inconvenient as the cabs will get expensive after a time (and, for those with cars, parking is not terribly expensive or hard to find in Downtown). Also, you have to call them from the inn as there is no Uber in Victoria, although getting one in town is pretty easy. The immediate area has some cute restaurants of several types and cafes, but they are a bit far to walk both ways (but doable compared to the walk Downtown). The room was fine, although the plugs were not near our bed and in these days of multiple devices, that's an issue. The breakfasts were pretty good in general, although one of our three was less so. However, they were served at individual tables. We like conversing with other guests at B&Bs and the set-up here was not conducive to doing so. Also, the staff seemed disinterested. They were perfectly polite, and did their jobs, but they did not seem interested in engaging with the guests -- at least not us. In sum, Abbeymoore, while perfectly fine, did not offer the extra feeling of charm and quaintness that we usually get from a B&B. It was more like a hotel off the beaten path and, given that, it might be better to stay in Central Victoria, more convenient to the many things to see and do in this lovely city. read more

I was sold the second we walked in and were greeted with the aroma of freshly baked cupcakes. My boyfriend and I spent one night here during a whirlwind trip to the Northwest--I only wish we were able to stay longer, both in Victoria in general and at this B&B in particular. Ian, Anne and Michelle were so welcoming and helpful, giving us a map as soon as we arrived and directions to the restaurant we'd picked out for dinner (it's a pleasant 20-minute stroll through a residential area into town--and was made even more pleasant with the inclusion of the afore-mentioned cupcakes, which we happily grabbed on our way out the door). The breakfast the next morning was amazing: a cranberry scone, yogurt with all sorts of fruit (dragon fruit! I'd never even heard of dragon fruit before!) and homemade granola, ham and cheese omelette roll-ups with a spicy kick, roasted sweet potatoes, and a delicious, delicious fig and asparagus salad with balsamic vinagrette and feta cheese (I'm now officially on a fig kick for awhile). The whole time, Ian walked around to check on everyone. We stayed in the Iris Room, which is bright and cheery and has a great deck (and yes, the tub is in the room, which only adds to its quirky charm). We had to check out at 11 a.m. but our ferry to Vancouver wasn't until 7 p.m., so we asked Ian if we could leave our bags there while we explored the city. Not only did he say yes, but he even offered to drop them off at the bus terminal for us! That generous offer allowed us more time to explore gorgeous Victoria. If you're debating where to stay in Victoria, your search is done. If you need restaurant recommendations, I have some of those as well... read more

There is no better place to stay in Victoria than Abbeymoore. The rooms are the perfect blend of luxury, vintage and comfort and the food is worth the visit all on its own. If you're a hotel person, then get with it and try out a stay in a B&B Inn like this... there's so many included amenities that it makes it difficult to stomach another charge-for-absolutely-everything hotel stay again. The breakfast room always had cookies, fruit, pop, water, coffee and tea available, there's free Wifi, books, DVDs, games, newspapers and two hosts that will help you out with anything. They sorted out our dinner reservations, got us some insider info on some bookings to boot. I love this place... it's better than home. read more

This is our third and favorite BnB experience. Truly top notch. A chef is brought in for some exquisite breakfasts. They meet every need for dietary concerns, but we eat anything and loved everything. We stayed in the lilac room, which is small, but perfect. The clawfoot tub is very large and you're able to completely stretch out. The mattress has a topper which makes it pretty soft--that's the only thing I would change and I did hear another couple complain but it wasn't terrible. The fresh baked cookies in the afternoons are great, but dangerous! The house is immaculate, the hosts could not be nicer, and Victoria is everything we wanted it to be and so much more. read more

The Abbeymoore is # 1 for a reason. Ian and Anne were obviously born to do this. Ian is the happiest guy on the planet (or could win an Oscar in the role of Happy Innkeeper) and his happiness is infectious. When I say "whistle while you work," this is Ian, except he hums (not too long) and it's a delight to be around. Rooms are incredibly clean, and cozy, and comfortable. Breakfasts are very good, and they do whatever they can to accommodate your dietary needs. In my case, Cave Man, and in my wife's case, Pescetarian + organic cage-free poultry person. Although they may not be able to source EXACTLY what you need, just know they will do their very best. Also, Ian operates like a concierge. This was a HUGE benefit. So when we told him of our ideas he was able to discuss with us places that are a must-see, etc. Two of our favorite destinations were recommended by him: the Mystic Beach walk and the Birds of Prey center. We stayed 7 days and I miss this place already. read more

Absolutely amazing attention to detail. First class service. Everything you can possibly think of is done right. From privacy to breakfast to free amenities to snacks to common areas to knowledgeable staff to board game availability to obsessive-compulsive (in a good way) housekeeping staff to... you get the idea. All done right. You can tell they take feedback serisously! Put simply, I am going to be comparing to Abbeymoore if I hotel or B&B elsewhere. Sucks for the other places, good for Abbeymoore! A great place to honeymoon if the greater Victoria area is your cup of tea for a honeymoon. If you're the chill type of vacationer, then yes it will. read more

Really lovely Victorian B&b. Very sweet owners who were also very friendly. The included breakfast was surprisingly good.

Abbeymoore lives up to its incredible reputation! Oh yes, this is perfection in the hospitality industry. The owners know the meaning of customer service and they are there to please you in every way they can. This beautiful heritage building is well maintained in and out. It was dreamy to come back after a day's outing and walk up the idyllic path, past the flowers, to our suite on the bottom floor. The well-stocked kitchen allowed us to make a quick meal and dine in the comfort of our cozy living room. Everything was so impeccably clean. And the breakfasts, on my, just divine! Plus chocolate chunk cookies to enjoy in the afternoon and a glass of port to end the day in the grand living room. On cooler evenings, one has the option to sit beside the fire, all set up and ready to go with a light of a match. No detail overlooked here. Located in a safe neighborhood, it is a 25 minute walk to downtown. Street parking is available in addition to the lot beside the house. read more

I can't even recommend this place higher!!!! I wish I could give it 6 Stars! We stayed at Abbeymoore on our Honeymoon for a few nights... and it was just heaven. So relaxing.. and everything you could hope for in a B & B. The owner Ian is SO personable.... SO helpful... and just awesome. The breakfasts in the morning are amazing too!!!! OMG! I am remembering them now.... (it's been awhile- May 2011 haha)... but, I am just getting started on Yelp and knew I HAD to review them!!! Do not look elsewhere... you will not regret it!!! We dream of going back,.... drinking from Ian's coffee mugs, eating delicious handmade breakfasts and sleeping on the best sheets on the planet!!! Go and have an amazing time!!! :-) read more

What a completely wonderful experience! Abbeymore is that rare travel experience: a B&B that actually lives up to its reputation. Anne and Georgie were consistently friendly, helpful, and warm. The gourmet breakfast served each morning was a fabulous treat; they even tailored the menu to our dietary preferences. We loved the holiday lights and decorations, and our beautiful and spacious Garden Suite was a welcoming haven at the end of each day. I really can't believe how great this place is. This was my first B&B experience but I suspect Abbeymoore is a step above other places. I've always avoided staying at B&B's because I prefer to be sort of left alone when traveling. I like to come and go as I please and sometimes I like to simply laze about my hotel room and relax, rather than constantly sight-see. I worried that this would be weird at a B&B to stay in my room and relax but it was completely fine here. It felt like a small hotel but with so much more personality. The room was airy, cozy, comfortable, and clean. The bed was fantastic and I had heavenly sleep. The street and the B&B itself was quiet during the evening. The B&B staff were all incredibly kind and made me and my partner feel really comfortable. We're both kind of shy with new people but we felt well at ease. Both breakfasts were delicious and catered to my vegetarian needs. They had snacks and homemade cookies, as well as water and tea available all the time. This was helpful for me as I'm an avid snacker. The only bummer was that I didn't get to meet either of the cats including Red The Three-Legged Cat. There's always next time... read more

My wife and i have stayed here several times now and it does not get much better than this. The suites range from modern on the lowest level to more European style (i prefer) above and the manor itself is absolutely beautiful. We most recently stayed in the top most suite that combines modern amenities and older style. I've spent many an hour whiling away time with movies, a book, the paper, and generally doing nothing there. Its a brisk walk to downtown (10-15 min; easily within range) and there are many places to both sight-see and eat at nearby. My wife has a large amount of allergies and the Inn accommodated everything and nothing tasted less than spectacular for breakfast. The staff is friendly, knows where everything is at (and everyone), keeps menus of local and far flung eateries and will call ahead or run down any bit of information that you need. There's umbrellas at the door for when it rains, and they are happy to make maps for you with destinations all over the island as well as recommend a few based on your 'style'. It feels like family ought to be when you are here - open, lively, and fun. The beds are comfy, and the rooms vary in layout - everything has a unique feel to it. Treat yourself and stay here. You will come back. Heck, you may even meet some of the same people if you do! Update: We just keep going back - from the fireplace in the Rose room to the Port and fresh cookies daily... Abbeymoore is just the BEST place to stay. I feel sad that every hotel and B&B has to measure up to them... nothing beats it so far. Met some great people, the food was nothing short of amazing, and enjoyed sharing a splash of 25 year old single malt i bought with Ian, one of the Innkeepers. read more

My sweetie and I stayed three nights at the Abbeymoore this summer and highly recommend it. It is a charming B&B in a beautiful old home, impeccably maintained and spotless. What is even more special about it are the innkeepers. Ian is born to the role - welcoming, jovial and ready with all the information or requests you might have for transportation, tickets, restaurants, etc. It's not just about providing good customer service for him; it's that he truly enjoys being helpful in any possible way. Breakfast is prepared by Ann. Can you actually call breakfast "gourmet"? These were delicious, individually prepared, fresh and unique offerings. We were in BC for 9 days eating at fine restaurants each night and we agreed that Ann's two breakfasts fell into our top four meals of the trip. And there are fresh cookies each afternoon! read more

My wife and I found this B&B on Uniqueinns.com and instantly fell in love. We were shocked at the low rates and amazing decor we found on their website. We thought something might be wrong, so we instantly booked a 3 night stay. We didn't read any of the reviews, because we wanted this to be an unbiased first experience of a B&B. Normally I would read tons of reviews before making a decision, but we felt that time wasn't on our side for reservations. We arrived at Abbeymoore Manor and were greeted by Ian with a big smile as if the last of the family showed up for dinner. Check in started with a tour of the house, common rooms, and dining room and ended with entrance into the Primrose Room. My wife and I looked at each other, smiled, dropped our bags and flopped on the bed. We were exhausted from the trip and ready to kick off our shoes, go downstairs, pour some tea and sit by the fire. Ian was our host the entire time and clued us in on some of the town's best restaurants, brewpubs, and attractions. One of the highlights of our trip is that Abbeymoore is located across the street from the Lieutenant Governors mansion. The grounds are open to the public and display some of the most beautiful native plant life maintained by an all-volunteer staff. We lucked out and had the opportunity to tour the mansion on day 3. Abbeymoore has an amazing chef (Chris) that takes breakfast to a whole new level. You start off with coffee or an assortment of teas, then you're offered a choice of freshly made juices to accompany your first course. I particularly enjoyed the Cardamom Citrus Greens Salad and Cranberry Scone. Before the main course comes you might find yourself in full conversation with some of the other guests. The main course arrives and you can't decide whether to grab your fork or your camera for a quick snapshot of your soon-to-be devoured breakfast. As we headed out for our first day on the town, I couldn't help but wonder what was going to be on the menu for the next day's breakfast. Our room was super-comfortable and had everything we needed. I loved the Lindor Truffles that were on the bed when we arrived. The bed was very comfortable and there was a little lounge chair and ottoman that never got used, because of the comfortable couches, chairs and warm fireplace downstairs. The lush and tree-lined neighborhood around the Abbeymoore was beautiful and at times reminded me of something you'd read about in a fairy tale. I could go on and on about this amazing B&B, but I want to get the great points out there. For our first stay at a B&B, we hit the JACKPOT!!!! You will not even be slightly disappointed with The Abbeymoore Manor. I usually like to stay at various hotels and such to see what's best, but when you find a gem (Abbeymoore), you hold on to it. Lisa and I cannot wait for our next trip to Victoria and our next stay at the Abbeymoore. I hope this review brought you closer to your decision and maybe a smile or to. I hope that if you choose Abbeymoore, you share your experience with the rest of the Yelpers out there. Happy travels! -Quinn and Lisa read more

We recently had the privilege to stay at The Abbey Moore. Everything from booking, to check-in/out was seamless and comprehensive. We stayed in the lilac room and it was beautiful. The bed is amazingly luxurious and the room is equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay. We felt like we had the perfect amount of privacy while having the interactions of a bnb. The bathroom is updated but with original charm, as is the whole manor. There are snacks, tea, coffee, soda and water that is "help yourself". It was nice to come home after a long day and have a cup of tea and wind down. Breakfast is also excellent. The food was great and Anne was very attentive without being overbearing. She even printed out unique stops for our drive up the island, and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Without a doubt, I would stay at Abby Moore again and recommend it to all visiting Victoria. read more

I can not even begin to describe my fiances and I's experience! From the moment we arrived we were taken in by Ian and Ann's hospitality. Ian gave us a tour of the beautiful Bed and Breakfast. The soft peaceful music playing in the background was a nice touch to put you at ease and feel at home. We arrived late afternoon and after a full day of travel my fiance wanted nothing more then to relax and catch up on his hockey game that he was kind enough to forgo at the pub since he knew I wanted to check into the B&B at a reasonable time. Low and behold Ian said he could watch the game on the main level of the B&B. The grander of this room still had a cozy feel due to the big windows that over looked the porch and into the front garden. There was the nice crackle of the fire that begged for you to sit next to it in the plush chairs. I helped myself to the port and chocolate that Ian and Ann have presented in the sitting room. Now feeling at ease after a day of travel ( and the fact my fiance got to watch his hockey game ) I took a walk to explore the surrounding area. There is the home were the Queen occupies at her leisure a block and a half down the street. A legendary castle about four blocks away, and a local store about a mile away you can walk to,to get a bottle of wine for your room if you so please. The next morning we woke up to a lovely breakfast that is made by Michelle, Ian and Ann's daughter. The menu changes daily and you are presented with it upon sitting down at what ever breakfast table you choose. We had a selection of fresh juices to go along with tea or coffee. A first course consisting of freshly picked berries with yogurt and a piece of banana bread. A second course with a delicious Mediterranean omelet along side fennel citrus salad. I liked the salad so much I took it from my fiances plate! Mitchell noticed this and I think she assumed he didn't like the salad and offered to make him some potatoes instead. Now that is what I call going above and beyond being a gracious host!! We spoke with Michell about our planes for the day and that included going to the Butchart Gardens for high tea. She recommended we make reservations since they do such high volume and asked if she could take it upon herself to make the arrangements? Again, going above and beyond! After our jottings for the day we made our way back to the B&B. It was late evening and the fire was rolling again. We met a lovely couple from Tofino and chatted with them for a bit and I helped myself to more Port :) Before turning in for the night my fiance and I played a game of Backgammon that was among many selections to choose from provided by our hosts. We woke up the next morning not wanting to leave this little gem. We stayed in the Rose room which had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!! My fiance especially like the shower which had to shower heads. One that came from the ceiling as if it were raining and the other which was adjustable. Which was nice if your short like me and great if your tall like him. We headed down for breakfast to find Ann and Michell catering to all the guest. On our menu that morning we read a nice farewell to my fiance and I and a warm welcome to the new housemates.Even a welcome back from previous guests!!! We loved all the little touches and warmth that this house and hosts have to offer! We graciously said our goodbyes and the question of if we would return arose. Without a doubt I said and since it was our anniversary we were celebrating I could see it becoming an annual event. Once I said the word anniversary to Ann and Michelle they were perplexed as to why we hadn't mentioned it before? I just thought it was something to keep to ourselves and no big deal. Well wouldn't you know it, Ann packed up a tea/coffee mug I was to purchase and placed some scones with jam and clotted cream for our tea later that day and made it so it would not be compromised with our travels ahead. When I went to pay for the mug my fiance and I picked out previously she said not to worry! They wanted to acknowledge our anniversary and wish they had known! I was left feeling so welcomed and catered to! My fiance were so pleased to find this hidden gem and can't wait to go back and make more memories! Thank you Ian, Ann and daughter Michelle. read more

My sister and I had a very pleasant 2 day stay. This being our first time staying at a bed and breakfast. Though I would have preferred to be in one of the rooms upstairs. I didn't book the trip, so I didn't have the choice. The basement suit was perfectly fine and comfortable. Jeff, our morning breakfast host, and owner, was very nice and a pleasure to visit with. The two breakfast meals we experienced were a treat, very good. My complements to the Chef who prepared the meals. The Port was delicious, a nice surprise and added touch. We enjoyed it very much. Thank you Jeff! The garden surround was nicely kept and beautiful in bloom. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. If you are reading this review and you think you'd like to book a stay, please, if you have young children don't bring them, don't do it. Be courteous, a bed and breakfast should be experienced by couples and individuals looking for a nice quiet escape. My only reason for a 4 star review: The couple in the room next to us, though very nice, had two small children who cried at night and fussed at breakfast. read more

I just glimpsed at the reviews for this fantastic place, and I'm not sure I can compete. :) This place is phenomenal! The neighborhood is out of a fairy tale. The building is the stuff of fantasy, and the room, amenities, and food are top notch. However, I think the biggest boons to this lovely place are Anne, Ian, and the lovely staff. I was traveling with my teenage daughter, and they made us both feel welcome and at home. We felt cared for in a way that you will never feel at a hotel. Yay Abbeymoore! read more

We booked Abbeymoore for our honeymoon and our first BnB experience, and we're very glad we did! The staff was very helpful, and they had all kinds of suggestions for things to do in and out of Victoria. We really liked that they took the time to contact us before our stay for any dietary restrictions or reservations we would like to make. The BnB itself is adorable, the rooms are very clean, and the breakfasts were amazing! One of the most memorable parts for us was coming home and seeing a deer in the front yard. Stayed here last month and we very much enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the room below which is quite spacious, clean, with personal size bottles of shampoo, lotion, conditioner. The breakfast was delicious and presented restaurant-like. Local port wine was available in the living area for relaxation. The place is close to the harbor and walking distance to the castle (forgot the name). Friendly staff - what you come to expect from Canadians. You really experience the quaint b&b atmosphere but you can tell that the owner treats it as a serious business; not losing sight of delivering quality service and product. She was friendly and informative and made us feel very welcome. the house is beautiful and set across the road from the Governor's Mansion and gardens in a lovely residential neighbourhood. We stayed in the Rose Room and it was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Though small the ensuite shower room was very well appointed. There was no television in the room but we didn't miss it at all ...... after hours of walking around sightseeing on this beautiful island we were more than happy just to listen to the radio as we drifted off to sleep in the softest most comfortable bed linen ever! The breakfasts each morning prepared by Henry were fantastic and kept us going all day and the personalised messages on the menu each day make every guest feel very special. Ian did a great job each morning of entertaining everyone and getting the guests to mingle and get to know each other...... we've never come across a better host. Anne was also lovely, in fact the entire team are second to none. We met some lovely and very interesting people while at the Abbeymoore and that made our stay even more special. Be sure to look out for the deer which wander into the gardens all around the area to eat the plants and if you're as lucky as we were you may see Mummy closely followed by Bambi! There are some great places to visit while you are there such as Oak Bay with spectacular sea views and Butchart Gardens which are probably the nicest we've seen anywhere. The food in Victoria was excellent and we particularly recommend Café Brio for delicious Italian food, a great atmosphere and amazing service. We walked everywhere and it took around 15-20 minutes to walk into downtown / the harbour front area which we enjoyed but you should be aware that it is an uphill walk back so if you are not great at walking bear that in mind. All in all we can't think of a bad thing to say about this place and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to you ..... go on, treat yourselves! We certainly want to go back again read more

We spent two nights in the Iris Room and had a five star experience. Ian warmly greeted us upon our arrival and had wonderful suggestions of places to go and things to see on the island. The breakfasts were outstanding. A word of caution to those who may be a bit older and have some minor mobility issues...the claw-foot tub is not easy to get into or out of. For those more nimble, it won't be an issue. A beautiful property in and wonderful neighbor with caring hosts. Thanks to everyone who made our stay memorable. read more
