I had been diagnosed with a sprained rotator cuff, which was not only painful and limiting, but draining me of my energy! Although I love my primary care doc, his solution was to put me on heavy duty anti-inflammatory meds, which can be hard on your liver and have side-effects as well! I am not a stranger to acupuncture and was able to get an appt near where I live... I was fortunate enough to be seen by Laura.:) I had recently lost my husband, which Laura took into account with compassion, as well as my injury. I hope I am stating this correctly, but she explained that grieving can also contribute to the injury healing and that you hold grief in the left side of your body... the sprain is in my left side. Laura started with a 'clearing'... which I can only explain as "getting rid of my junk" ... I felt revived when leaving that day! I continued to see her for several more appts. I'm happy to say that my shoulder has improved 100% from when I had my first treatment, as well as other issues I had been having! Now for some gentle strengthening exercises. ;) I will continue to see Laura for monthly overall maintenance. For example she gave me some novel tips on working out the knots myself and even recommended some great affordable yoga places when I mentioned my interest in that. She also told me about their therapist that specializes in really deep massage too. The massage itself was great too with good deep pressure and she hit some spots that most massage therapists in the past haven't gotten as well. I bought a five pack of massages (never expires and can share with your girlfriend/spouse and you save $10 per 60 minute massage over the normal $90) given the great experience. Had a massage from Cheryl (owner) a few months back too; very good massage but lighter pressure than Shannon was able to do and not quite as much awesome info but would still recommend her.

The acupuncture lady is thorough, she applies plenty of needles on the back later connecting them to a machine that delivers intermittent electrical impulses, and she repeats the treatment in the front. The result is a longer, deeper state of muscle relaxation. The second part of the treatment is the massages. Not too strong where you are in pain, not too soft where you don't feel the effects. The staff is experienced. I've been coming to this place for about ten years now. Before it was managed by another great acupuncturist, but she retired about a year ago. I believe the new lady is building her new clientele. Most of the ladies who do the massages are the same. Don't be deceived, this is not your average spa with fancy rooms, deem lights, warm blankets and likely aromatherapy going on. The décor here is simple, clean, and straight forward. They will make it comfortably warm in colder days. The music is soothing. No aromatherapy which I'm deeply thankful for as even pleasant odors may become migraine triggers. When I started looking for acupuncture services, I went to the popular ones, those with high reviews, but after testing three different ones, I came back to Acupuncture Massage Center.
