The staff when we arrived were kind. But no one seemed to know what was going on. We came up for the new murder mystery. It was an epic fail. Very convoluted to figure out the who done it. The food was better than expected. The huge issue was the staff telling us they would have activities around murder mystery. There was one escape room and there was no room for us to play. It made for a boring weekend. The place we stayed was ok and didn't have very many amenities, the heat in the living room wasn't working...made for a chilly weekend. The staff needs to prepare the guests for a weekend expectation. We didn't need a golf cart but no one mentioned that when we booked the trip. We wasted over $1K for this weekend. Half of the mascots have been gotten rid of. Now we only have Mortimer, Chippy, and Skarlett. Not to mention how cartoonerized they are now. We used to come here all the time before it was bought out. Definitely changed for the worst. Didn't have pieces to activities where you won prizes. No internet at cabins to check activities throughout the day. Prices to go there and for items such as food and souvenirs. $42 for a small shirt. Only good part is the production crew. 10/10 stars to them. They host every show there and are amazing at it. Also, they are amazing singers and dancers. Most staff are nice. This place has gone major downhill since new ownership. The food isn't as good like before at food bar, activities not as fun or consistent like before. Now they have cabanas on the main beach and you have to rent one? When before it was this beautiful lake beach and it's being ruined by this petty marketing scheme. Also, the price they ask now is insanely expensive and most of the trailers haven't even been renovated. The past nostalgia has me coming back after experiencing the changes last year. Booked two months ago? Got a call today they want to charge an additional $200 for linen. When confronted that last year there was bags of linen for beds and towels prior. They made excuse it's basic "cabin" aka trailer and it's additional fee. Well that's interesting because we had this "basic" cabin last year and linen was included plus this year it's even more expensive. So for insane fee to rent a run down trailer they market as cabin to sound elite, you now have to pay $200 for basic cheap linen, you have to pay for cabana, you have to pay for entertainment. The direction this place keeps going is extreme corporate greed and it's very disturbing. Shame! If the cost of these run down trailers weren't double or triple the price they were before the change of ownership. Then I could understand but the extreme price surge should include basic linen to cover the beds with linen. To take reservation and payment. Then months later nickel and dime with fake excuses. So be better because this is going to push people from supporting this place who was once owned by an incredible family that truly gave the place heart. UPDATE: they replied but interesting I cannot reply to them. They are stating that it was mentioned at the time of reservation. It never was. they also mentioned that they called two weeks prior. We aren't booked to arrive in two weeks. We aren't arriving for a couple months. They also said that it doesn't come with the linens because it's "basic" cabin. I have the same cabin that I had last year and there was two bags of linens in the twin bedroom and a bag of linens in the queen bedroom. There was also a bag with a couch cover and towels, etc. At no additional charge. Interesting how they are utilizing the verbiage basic now to get away with charging this much for linens which should come with the cabin itself at the price that they charge. It's not a cabin in the woods that anyone can visit and they have to bring their own stuff. Also, they mentioned that they don't have cabanas that you have to pay for. There was cabanas all along the beach last year, and you had to pay for them. So either they realized that was a marketing fail and it's not there this year or they're lying publicly. read more

I'm rating this based exclusively on the resort and not my own personal vacation, which I returned from on Wednesday August 8/14/19. My brother in-law has vacationed here with his family (and several other families) for years. Looking at their past vacations from afar looked really fun so we decided to spend a few days at the resort. We stayed at a 3 bedroom rental house, not affiliated with the resort. We arrived on a Sunday which was nice because I hear the traffic heading into the resort on Saturdays (the day you check in for the week) is NUTS. We had no traffic and smooth sailing into the resort around noon. Our family was thrilled when we arrived because they knew we would kick some serious butt at the Name-That-Tune contest at 2pm. (I take all credit for bringing back a second place ribbon---which was proudly tied on their beach-tent with scads of others won in recent years. This is 100% a family joint. Great for families with kids who want to either park it at the nice beach on the lake (neat playground right at the beach). If that's not your thing there's so many things you could do from cornhole, yard-pong, ping pong, pickle ball, arcade, horseshoes, boat rentals and much more. The resort is kind of a throwback in the sense that kids tool around safely on their bikes, people are driving golf carts or just walking where they need to go. It's HUGE. The general store was a complete surprise to me because, even though you're sort of bound to the resort, it was unexpectedly inexpensive for things like snacks, breakfast sandwiches, beer. My brother in law joked that the price of a pound of bacon was making up for the other cheap prices but come on, BYOB (bring your own bacon, we did). The staff was super chill. They weren't up your arse in any way but when they needed to (for example) get people out of the lake during a rainstorm, they did it efficiently. My 11 year old niece is a singer and she competed in the The Voice competition and I've got to say, those kids could all sing and the "coaches" (college age theater kids) took their jobs seriously. All of that said, this was not my kind of trip just based on what our group was into and that was sitting on the beach all day long. We did enjoy getting away to play some games against fellow campers. We totally dug the tiki bar, trivia there and the beers were very reasonable. This place was great when we were kids. Brought my family here for a pretty penny and it was a big regret. All activities are cancelled. Nothing to do but sit around. Snack bar and ice cream bar closed most days. Everything here is outrageous and just 5 years ago was extremely affordable. 25-30 dollars to rent kayak for an hour. Trash everywhere and dirty all around. Smells like a farm. Everyone there were talking about the same thing... going there for decades and won't be back. read more

Got there late in the evening it's behind a strip mall. It's a large place with no one on duty after 12. Not well lit. A man 2 doors down had a wife in a wheelchair couldn't get into his room. We drove home from our Maine vacation a day early. Point Sebago Resort has great marketing materials, really good resort amenities and poor accommodations. Our 2 bedroom cottage was an old mobile home that was crammed next to another one. Decks & fire pits are in the front yards across from each other. About 10 feet apart from each other-not at all conducive to a quiet evening in nature. The bottom deck stair was broken, the lock required a lot of wiggling, the beds creaked every time you moved and the futon cover was gross. Too many people. Hundreds of cottages and campsites! The inability to reserve kayaks and canoes was disappointing. The young woman who was taking reservations at the marina needs some serious customer service skills training. Not coming back here to stay-expensive for a disappointing experience. Maine, on the other hand, is glorious! read more

I enjoyed our family's trip to Point Sebago. We rented a Glamping site and had a blast. Place was very kid friendly. Lots of kid activities, beach had gradual entry and swimming docks, and a few playgrounds right at the beach. Interestingly, PS was also very adult oriented with relaxed adult beverage consumption. We also rented a golf cart for the weekend. Fun times! It is a campground, not a resort. So know what a campground is before you book. There are many RVs and small "park homes" (small trailer looking tiny homes). They seem to be converting PS into more upscale tiny homes right on the lake. A welcomed improvement from my perspective. Food was okay for the limited menu. They have stuff for the kids (hot dogs, grilled cheese, etc.). We also got grilled chicken Cesar wraps. I would hate to have to eat dinner out all week there as the food appeared to be so-so. The rum bucket was good! Will return next year! read more

First time to the resort July 2022. We rented a lakeside cottage and a 6 person golf cart. For the amount of money we paid for the cottage and cart (just about 4k) I was disappointed. The worst was that we didn't have hot water the first day. My fiancè called a couple times and it was finally fixed the next day after we had to take ice cold showers. The beds were HORRIBLE. Lumpy, springs sticking out and the futon snapped on the first day with my 11 year old son sleeping on it. He weighs 70lbs and was not rough housing. The first day we noticed the futon was broken, wood under it and sunken in. We didn't call about it because we knew we probably wouldn't get a quick response. We went out to Walmart in Casco to purchase an air mattress to sleep on. Picture attached of the broken futon. The food at the establishment...... just ok. We cooked at the cottage (be sure to check the pans, ours were filthy and everything needed to be washed). We ventured out to Windham to eat a bunch which we were thankful for. The snack shop had issues with the icee machine almost daily which was a disappointment to my kids. Many of the teenagers working behind the counter were so immature and rude, even when guests were present. Throwing stuff at one another, sweating, etc. The lake and the arcade were pros for my kids. Thankfully they enjoyed both. We checked out a day early, I honestly wanted to check out day 2 of 7 but pushed through. I emailed the resort and sent a message on Instagram about our first and last stay....not a peep back. Of course when they wanted payment for the trip they were easy go get a hold of. This place has gone downhill big time. I have been going here with my husband and close friends over the last decade. First stayed in a park home in 2010 and it was okay. We rented a park home this past weekend 10/11-10/13 and it was dismal at best. Upon walking into the "cabin" for the first time, there were multiple dead mosquitos and other bugs throughout the master bedroom, as well as a spider running across the floor. The 2-3" dead grasshopper on the bathroom floor was the icing on the cake. The floor in the bedroom had leaves and dirt on it- clearly the floor had not been swept/cleaned well before we checked in. The toilet was not connected to the floor and whenever you sat on it, the entire toilet lurched forward as if it were toppling over. All this for the low price of $400 for the weekend. I could have stayed in a nice hotel for less. Absolutely no desire to go back. Disgusting trailers and rude staff. No one knew where events were taking place and when we were told a place/time, we went and the doors were closed. No explanation as to why it wasn't up and running or events (like happy hour) being moved or starting late. The prices are higher than ever and the conditions are sub par. Don't waste your money or time. read more

Well, this is a sad review for me to write, because after years of loving Point Sebago for the fun and friendships I shared there and the beautiful views, I had to accept that it wasn't worth the exorbitant cost to stay in a filthy trailer and eat mediocre food. After years of declining conditions at the Point, this year was the one that will keep me from ever coming back. My friends and I have been going to Point Sebago every May for seven years for a convention/retreat-like event. There have always been little things to deal with - one year our "Park Home" (actually repurposed FEMA trailers - don't expect these cheaply made boxes to be well-appointed "cabins") was infested with large carpenter ants, one year we were expected to sleep in a closet with bunk beds placed in it - behind the pocket door were bunk beds and nothing else. So no way to get into the room, couldn't change in there, couldn't stand in there, no closet for clothes, etc. This was rented to two adult roomates, who they knew would need two bedrooms - no adjustment was made in the price for this substandard situation. And this was one of their "new" trailers. We were expected every year to clean our trailers and deliver the trash to their collection bins, to sweep the floors, wash dishes and generally tidy up the place before we left - even though when I pay for lodging I don't expect to be the chambermaid. There was limited hot water. We were charged $7.50 for small, watered-down drinks. The mattresses are plastic and uncomfortable. Parking around the trailers is limited and difficult. The food was predictable and so-so, with very few options for those who must have some gluten-free choices. We had gotten used to the routine, because the facilities were adequate for our event, and in a beautiful and convenient location. We laughed and complained about the "accommodations" every year - it was like a rite-of-passage bonding experience to deal with the quirks. This year, however, finally placed the last straw on the camel's back. Apparently, Point Sebago is under new ownership. It's obvious that the new owners plan to maximize their profits in the cheapest way possible. The sites, always funky, were downright run-down and dilapidated. They added new facilities for children, such as a new playground, and put lights on the top of one of the newer buildings. There is fresh paint in the main lodge, new tablecloths (I stuck to mine as soon as I sat down to dinner - they hadn't been wiped between diners), and some new decor. But the place was literally FILTHY. Please see the pictures of our trailer - the bathroom was disgusting. We were one of the first groups of the season, along with a group of golfers, so we should be coming in to sparkling living quarters that hadn't had the chance to be dirtied by other lodgers. The place should have been fumigated, but we woke up to a multitude of ants in the kitchen on our last day there. Any damage should have been repaired, and facilities replenished to prepare for the start of the season, yet we had damage in our trailer, and only one coffee mug, and only a few glasses. Although there is WiFi in the main lodge, don't look for it in your trailer. In regards to the aforementioned golfers, another hallmark of Point Sebago is that they consistently serve to the point of gross intoxication, and we've had problems between the groups for many years, including having to deal with a large group of men standing in the back of the lounge, ogling us while we dance, even though we were supposed to be a "private party." And while I'm on the subject of dancing - the ancient carpets in the dining area and in the lounge in the Sebago Lodge were also stained, threadbare and filthy, and the dance floor was covered in sand and dirt. A staff member confiscated all bottles and cups that some of us brought in with us - even those filled with water - which had never been done in years past. What should have been a fun night with friends turned adversarial as soon as we arrived. All of this is happening in the midst of price hikes, which makes this the most expensive below-average lodging around. Although for the most part the staff is friendly and helpful, and the lake and view are lovely, it doesn't make up for the dirty, buggy, poorly maintained conditions and high prices. After years of our "Point Sebago Weekends," we will be finding another place to meet. With so many beautiful lakes in Maine, and lots of comfortable B&Bs and motels, I suggest you spend your money elsewhere. read more

This is the kind of place that has a long history of tradition, family values, and fun-filled vacation times for all who come. Originally founded as a campground and RV park, over the years has introduced pre-fab park homes slowly site by site. Even though all of the sites have been upgraded at this point it ain't the Ritz by a long shot. But this isn't supposed to be a luxury resort. Nevermind they have one of the nicest golf coarses in the area, people keep coming for the clean air, lake access, amenities, round the clock activities for the whole family, and enriching experience. There is plenty to do here and is only dull when there is inclement weather. Activities include volleyball, pickleball, softball, golf, tennis, swimming, talent shows, live entertainment, dances, dining, video games, boating, shuffleboard, carnivals, rock walls, mini golf, laser tag, and more. Amenities include a beach, full access to Sebago Lake, a boat launch, dock slip rentals, boat rentals, organized activities, fully furnished or partially furnished park homes, a Resturant, a kids activity center, childcare, laundry facilities, golf cart rentals, and on and on and on. Those of us that have been coming here year after year see familiar faces. A few have even purchased the availible 3-season homes available on the premises so they can stay long-term. I've been coming here 15 years. My wife and her family have been coming for 25. Their friends and family have been coming here just as long. my inlaws even purchased a place here. I been going on and off to Sebago Resort for 35 years. Some say it's expensive but if you look at all you can do activity wise plus not have to drive anywhere, to me the price is still fair. So much to do for kids and adults. They also have kids clubs so the parents can get a break. I find it pretty safe as well and don't have a problem giving the kids freedom with no adult supervision. The happy hours are awesome!! All the adults love them. Drinks are good and the entertainment was great. I have used campers and rented park homes. Personally I liked bringing a camper. Park home beds are not comfortable at all and get buggy. You can also at times hear critters (chipmunks, squirrels, whatever) in between the walls at night. I do think the resort went a bit overboard on how big the marina is. In the 80, 90s the beach area to swim and lay out was so much bigger. Because of the marina the water isn't as nice on the main beaches. There is still one small beach away from the marina and main area that is nice but get there real early to claim your space. Cove communities ruined point sebago they turn into a corporation from a family business. I spent a week there in June listening to excavators dig on the beach and carpenters building new units. the park was a mess with falling down fences and old park models taken apart in all the parking lots. There were no activities the entire week we were there. The restaurant store and snack bar was closed most of the week or closed early. Seasonal camper are pissed at the new owners for raising rates and eliminating a lot of amenities. If seasonal go to sell now they are not allowed to they have to remove there camper so the campground can sell one of there old "refurbished" on the outside units for $45k-$80k. One more issue, we were booked for the 2020 season, their big 50th anniversary. Unfortunately covid hit and after many discussions with the check in desk, we were told that the "celebration " would be put on hold until 2021. We then scheduled for 2021 thinking big celebration year.. WRONG!! THEY LIED TO US... Shocker... no celebration, no welcome back. Just some stupid video, 4 actors who were terrible... This was our third visit to Sebago Point Resort & Golf. It is conveniently located only 45 minutes west of Portland, ME. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon. We were greeted by Lori Golford at the front desk. Our info package had all we need for our stay for the Maine Brewfest Weekend here at the resort. we were meeting two other couples here. The accommodations are trailers w/ decks refer to as camp homes. Fully furnished, linens supplied, heat and AC. Spartan by some standards but we find them comfortable. Everything is within walking distance, dining hall, bar, beach, camp store, laundry, trash, etc. Golf carts can be rented ($50./day). Note. As a guest you would need to drive a car to the golf courses b/c access via the resort is restricted through the areas of permanent seasonal rentals. Golf was a good value and the course was challenging. Note: this course is really not laid out for walking, as there are many permanent homes along the course. The resort has a variety of themed weekends. A good place for families, reunions, business retreats, and even weddings. The Brewfest is quite popular so book early. Weekend package also included five meals featuring a lobster or carving station dinner on Saturday evening before the beer hall entertainment. This the deepest and second largest lake in Maine. Next to Point Sebago is Sebago Lake State Park which is a very pleasant hike and view. Always a fun time here and we will be back. This is a five hour trip from our hometown of Albany, NY read more

This place becomes a part of your family. It's tradition. Lot's of memories made here, laughs, and family time. All the important things. Point Sebago is luxury camping. The park home (trailer) sites are like mini ranch houses. Fully equipped with a bathroom, cable television, full kitchen, bedrooms, heat, and air conditioning. There is no roughing it. There's also a firepit outside for you to use. The lake is super clean. Staff are friendly. The meal plan is by far the only negative. Meal plan food isn't the best and selection isn't either. Service is excellent. The regular restaurant food is good. Activities are exceptional. We love Dan Merrell!!!! Especially at happy hour and by the tiki bar. We've been staying here for the last 3 or so years for Halloween weekend and have loved every year minus this year. The food has gone downhill tremendously. Point Sebago is one of those places that you visit once and never go again or you end up coming back year after year. This is a place for families pure and simple. A place where kids can catch minnows and frogs, swim, boat, and cook S'mores over a campfire. Of course there are many other places that can offer the same experiences but Sebago makes it easy. There are plenty of activities designed to keep even the most hyper of kids busy such as games, contests, dances and shows. Accommodations range from a simple campsite to a luxurious vacation home. As for food, well to be kind let's just say that you don't come here for the food (the exception is the chicken fingers at the snack bar). There are some decent restaurants in the area. To come here is to be transported back in time to when things were simpler and more innocent and to create memories that last a lifetime. read more

After going to Point Sebago Resort for years, sadly this was our last year going there. Once the new management took over (Cove Communities) it's been going downhill. It's abundantly clear Point Sebago is moving toward owner occupied units. At one point there were over 30 employees in charge of activities, now it's down to 6. Next year will probably be less. I don't want to hear about staffing shortages either as one kid told us he got laid off. Also gone is the day care camp for kids, competition games, and most of the swimming area. Their "water park" is a joke. It takes up 2/3 of the swimming area and it's just a small obstacle course that you have to pay extra for. Point Sebago ended up giving out passes to their "water park" in an effort to fill it for drone pictures. We had a cheaper vacation flying to Mexico during spring break than a week at Point Sebago Resort. Extremally overpriced for what they provide. read more

Although the food service was bloodcurdling. we waited for over an hour for our order which was average to say the least. the activities could have been enjoyable but we were unable to get into anything. the lake was quite enjoyable beside for the little incident with the boats, we were unaware that there were two marinas under the name of Moose Landing Marina and had some trouble shootings and ended up getting a refund. my little thomason was horrified at the fact that we could not get a boat and he slapped his father out of enragement overall this stay earned a 6/11 read more

I've been coming here since before I was born, almost 20 years now, and I used to love it. Ever since Cove Communities took possession of the property, everything has gone downhill. From crap shows to removing the favourite entertainment shows of the last 10 years to god awful uniforms and insane prices on stays, it's not worth it anymore. It used to be a family vacation that felt like somewhere you could always come back to and find remembrance in and enjoy with people you would always see the next year, but now they're forcing home owners up the hill out of the resort and it feels more corporate than vacation. We're selling our place this year after giving Cove Communities a chance for three or four years now. We can't watch somewhere that once had fun and made the summers worth it fall apart. Cove Communities, this is my advice to you: stop trying to go for a money grab and start thinking about your guests. Stop going for the cheaper option and do something quality for once that has historically brought people in. Bring back the Voice. Bring back Dancing with the Stars. Bring back the Pirate Cruises. Fix and improve the mini golf course. PAY for royalties for actual Broadway show titles and keep the self-written work for the Staff Show night. Hire more actors and let staff and volunteers participate in shows again. Make the teen lounge more fun for TEENS. Bring back the painting classes even. Think about your guests and the different ages and needs of them, not just what will make you a quick buck. The fireworks every week have been nice, keep that up. My grandmother had to sit in an uncomfortable chair in the very back of the room because your brochure and website lied about open availability of seating. Very disappointed in the cleanliness of the resort. The cabin where I stayed had cobwebs and dirt build up in the bathroom. Everything was old and when we opened the windows we couldn't believe the bugs and dirt in them. The lights had dead bugs in them as well. Extremely disappointed for the price we paid. I've stayed here four times for their murder mystery weekend and once for their Halloween weekend. I only knew about this place because my brother and his family camp here multiple times throughout the year. Of the two experiences, the murder mystery weekend is my favorite. They put a lot of work into making sure you have fun and that it's interactive. There are multiple murders, things are lit on fire or crashed, and the cast stay in character the entire time. You search for two sets of clues and if you find one you get a t-shirt. The only gripe here is that people shouldn't cheat by finding the spots before the clue sheets are handed out. The cast also goes through an interrogation before we hand in "the who dun it" sheets. Our site won first place this year so we get a free weekend next year. Pretty sweet prize if you ask me! As for the food provided with the weekend package, it never changes year to year. I find breakfast tasty but lunch and dinner are super bland. The hamburgers and hotdogs during lunch on that Saturday are by far the worst. My guess is that the food is frozen and bought in bulk. They put so much effort into the murder mystery itself that maybe the food is a serious after thought? As for the Halloween weekend, it is the first time staying in one of park homes instead of my brother's camper. I wasn't expecting a five star experience but the accommodations were VERY basic. The Halloween weekend is very kid-centric. I enjoyed spending time with my family but I wouldn't consider doing this on my own. Since I didn't like the food during murder mystery, we brought groceries with us to make our own meals. Best choice! As for the cost to stay, it was high. I assumed it included major events (monster rock, haunted hay ride, creepy carnival, etc.) Surprised that these events are a separate cost of $30 total per adult. I would only consider Halloween weekend again if I had a young child. I will continue to participate in the murder mystery weekend because I find that super fun. I might consider staying here outside of themed weekends only if I lived closer and had a camper. read more

We have been camping here for 17 years and have seen the activity schedule shrink disappointingly over the years. I write today because for some reason, management ceased the cyber Monday savings program. We loved that because it helped us pay for not only our camp site but also helped pay the lease on our cottage. Ouch! That hurt. No warning at all! We love Point Sebago and will likely continue to be guests there. Mostly because the grandkids would be very disappointed. Like everywhere else, pricing and schedules are subject to change without notice. read more

We were so excited to be told there was 1 site left when booking our annual Maine, 7-day camping vacation, to see family. The price for the week was more than double what we've paid for other campgrounds in the area, but we were confident this resort was worth it based on reviews, activities, and supply and demand. We couldn't have been more wrong! They advertise 6 people per campsite (overnight) and quiet time in the evening. Our entire week of anticipated relaxation was hijacked by rowdy, vulgar, intoxicated, and loud nights that didn't seem to stop until well after 1 am. The campsite across the road must've had 30+ people nightly and didn't seem to care about their level of rude and obnoxious drunkard partying. We thought it would end mid week when the local sheriff visited their site. Not sure what that was about but we assumed the resort security turned it over to higher authority. NOPE! Resort staff acted clueless when we brought the parties behavior to their attention. However, they weren't the only problem site; just the worst and most noteworthy. The resort is large and if you don't feel like physical activity by walking, then golf cart is the way to go. Apparently most were too lazy or intoxicated for walking so golf carts were EVERYWHERE and ALWAYS. 15 mph speed limit doesn't seem to apply to golf carts. They ran and raced all day and all night up and down the road in front of our tiny campsite for 7 days. As for activities...this place doesn't seem to offer anything in their resort fee. I understand having to pay for golf or an arcade card, (I'm not that cheap), but mini golf? Cmon! We only get 1 week of vacation a year with our family and look forward to the peace, tranquility, and relaxation of camping in Maine. This year we anxiously returned home, exhausted from our stay at Point Sebago Resort. If you're into a drunk and rowdy week of overpriced chaos then this place gets 5 stars. If you are looking for a relaxing week with your family, book someplace else. read more

Yelpers, what can I say about this place that hasn't been covered by the long book-ishy post. We flew in from Cali on the 1st of July after booking online. I grew up visiting this lake all of my life. I had a relative that owned a place in the basin. I wish to express that our experience was exactly what my family anticipated. We stayed in the Lodge that slept 26 people. The accommodation were spectacular. The whole point of the resort was ours alone. We also got treated to a fire works display that was directly in front of our dock. Joshua "the director of customer service" handled a situation we had with such urgency and priority that it turned our entire trip into a fantastic time. The experience was EPIC. From the location of the Lodge to the privacy and layout of the house. Thank you to Joshua, Susie and all the staff at Point Sebago! Well done!!! WELL DONE! If your looking for a camping experience then the cabins/coaches are perfect. If your looking for a resort style retreat folks book the lodge, worth every cent... We booked our 2016 summer vacation before we left. What else can be said, other thanI'm not leaving my clubs at home next year. Ill update in 12 months as for now we can't wait to get back. :) read more

Let me start by saying that the weather was horrible the week we visited. Thunderstorms, torrential downpours, and three tornado warnings-and we were tenting! We had a boat rental for a week and had barely used it by the time the sun finally broke out for a full day on Friday. Good things about PS-there is a very nice golf course on site. Despite the rain, it was in pretty decent shape. The camp store had a great beer selection, plenty of ice, and good coffee. Having the store, snack bar, ice cream shop and restaurant centrally located was convenient. Golf was a bonus. The lake is gorgeous. We brought kayaks and managed to get in some nice trips when it wasn't raining. The staff at the Marina-a separate operation-were very friendly and helpful. Gave us a lake map and let us keep our kayaks on the beach with theirs. They have a good recycling center and give you all the bags and instructions when you check in. The check in was pretty smooth, and the staff at the Welcome Center was great. Now for the negatives. First off, to get to our tent site we had to walk down six or seven treacherous steps-which meant lugging all of the supplies down there and climbing up and down steps every time you leave. Especially tricky in the dark! Loose rocks and roots all over the place-kept waiting to take that big fall-but managed to stay upright. It was very good size-way bigger than the RV sites my other family members had-and it had a good sized platform. It was quite uneven, which didn't help when the rain rolled in. Now I know PS can't control the weather but thank goodness we had cell phones-and my sister had a rental house nearby-because they did nothing when two tornado warnings came one day and another one the next day. Apparently a waterspout was confirmed on the lake within a few miles of PS. They did not come by to check on people or give out any warning at all-don't understand this for the number if people in the campground who could have been in danger. Speaking of danger, they rent golf carts and allow them to be driven everywhere. They are packed with kids and there is plenty of drinking going on at the beach and elsewhere so it's amazing there aren't more accidents. Between all of the cars, bikes, golf carts, and pedestrians-you need to be very vigilant when you're driving around. Getting in and out of the park is frankly annoying. I know it's SOP at these big RV parks, but having to wait for the gate to be put up when you're leaving-really? They didn't even leave it up when a bunch of us were racing out of there during the tornado warnings. Having key tags would be a great addition here. We had an extra car with us, which they do allow in and out during the day, but overnight parking is a ways away. I think a lot of renters ended up leaving early because of the weather and these sites were not cleaned out. I'm not defending people who leave their garbage and recycling bags at their site and their fire pit full of every cardboard box they used all week, but I don't want to look at it for two days-very shabby. My other pet peeve of the week was the water faucets in the bathroom- the ones you have to hold down to get a little squirt of water- not nearly enough to wash your hands and no chance of getting hot water. Not too good when you've been cleaning up a muddy campsite. So take the good with the bad. As others have said-it seems like a fun place to go with your kids-but there are some down sides to all of that. read more
