YES YES YES!!! It's been open for about a month and I've been 3 times. It's that good Killer smashed burger! Well seasoned juicy deliciousness. Crisp lettuce great tomatoes. Perfect bun. This place is a great casual (read less expensive) addition to the Del mar dining scene. I ordered a chilu burger and the smashburger style patty had a nice caramelized crust with a pickle relish underneath, a smear of chili and American cheese. The crinkle cut fries were not fresh cut but we all love those anyway. There is a patio with six tables but I recommend getting it in a togo box and walk down to the pier and wTch the surfers. Been wanting to try this new smashburger spot, but unfortunately the service was a complete let down. Placed our order for 5 burgers and fries, and were waiting, and waiting, and waiting. We noticed people that ordered after us already got their food. After about 20 minutes we asked the cashier the status of our order and apparently the ticket never went through to the kitchen... strange. At least one of the gals offered a shave ice or cookie while we waited. I thought the ladies working were nice but they seem super clueless and not aware at all. Like you notice people that are still sitting and waiting for their food and don't say/do anything about it? Anyways 40 minutes later we got our food to go and when we got home, the specialty truffle burger was missing of course. Just a complete let down overall. While the burgers were tasty, they were like three biters. You gotta order at least 2 to feel satisfied lol. It's a shame because while the staff were friendly, it was just extremely unorganized and disappointing how they had us waiting all this time to not even get the entire order right. 4 stars. I will likely come back. The location is great and the service was phenomenal. Carl who took our order made the whole visit. They just seem to love what they do and value the community. Their sauces were very good. And I'm not a big fan of lettuce and tomatoes on a burger (because I think it often is so much that it overtakes the burger) but I forgot to order it without and it was actually perfect! The chicken on the sandwich was large, tender, and the perfect texture. The burger was similar to in'n'out. But the fries were phenomenal. I keep hearing really good things about this restaurant so I decided to try it for lunch today. If you haven't been here before it's on Del Mar tucked back a little bit but right next to Pronto Italian market. It's a very casual, simple restaurant with a walk up window that you order at and then sit at tables outside. I was craving a burger today, so I just went with the cheeseburger combo, which was very satisfying for me! They have what they call "break sauce" for you to add to your burger. I couldn't quite figure out the flavors, but it was really good on my hamburger. It comes on the side so you can put it as much or as little as you would like. Also, they do crispy fries, which I found delightful! Not only do they have burgers, but they have chicken sandwiches. Next time I think I will try the Nashville chicken sandwich, which apparently is everyone's favorite! Also, the service is quite fast, so it is perfect for a quick lunch! read more

When finally received, we ate it there but the burgers were lukewarm and not hot. Seriously? Double cheeseburger, crinkle cut fries and drink $12.50. Very limited seating. The cashier was really friendly and so nice!!! Their burgers are great! The country fried chicken was delicious with the amazing break sauce that they have! Top notch burger! We loved the cheeseburger, truffle burger and the Nashville chicken sandwich. The smash patty was crispy and delicious and the rest of the burger was well seasoned. The potato rolls wrap everything up well. The mango shaved ice was extremely pleasant and a good way to wrap up a decadent and heavy meal. They don't prioritize your wait time, and I've had multiple issues with them not apologizing for delayed food even though parties 5-6 down the line from me would receive their order. The vibe is relaxed, coastal, and such a great place to grab a casual bite. The service is extremely friendly and welcoming, you can tell they genuinely care about the customers. The cheeseburger had those perfect crispy edges with melty cheese and a soft, buttery bun. The fried chicken sandwich was stacked high, insanely crunchy on the outside, and super juicy inside. I discovered Point Break in downtown last weekend. My family normally goes to In-and-Out for burgers so I was excited to see this new place for burgers because I want to support a local business. I brought my family there this evening and it turned out that was a mistake. We ordered a #2 combo, a double cheeseburger, and a fried chicken sandwich. The ordering seemed normal. The place was not busy when I placed my orders. There was only a young lady in front of me and she got her order in less than ten minutes after her ordering. However, there were about eight customers who came after me. As I was waiting for my orders to come out, I noticed many of the customers who came after me started to receiveing their orders. First, I thought my fried chicken sandwich was delaying my order since the restaurant probably has to fry the chicken from scratch but then half an hour had passed by and I still haven't received my orders. I approached one of my employees about my orders but she had no explanation for the delay. All she said was that my orders are coming out soon. However, I didn't get my orders for another 20 minutes. I also noticed that there were two ladies who had received their orders (I believe they ordered cheeseburgers) only waited about 5 minutes for their orders I waited a total of 50 minutes for my orders. The employees gave me no explanation and no apology. The delay and bad service are unexcusable. I wanted to support a local business but I was very disappointed by the bad service. read more

The food was decent except my burger was salty and they don't allow refills on drinks. On our way back from San Diego, we decided to stop in at the new Point Break Burger spot in San Clemente. It's a little tucked away but it's a little hidden gem. The really affordable prices will keep me coming back. We ordered the hot dog which came perfectly cooked and topped with relish, ketchup and mustard. Exactly how I like my hot dogs. This was delicious. The fries were very crispy. Next time I'll try the truffle fries. We also ordered the classic double cheese and the truffle burger. The truffle burger was sooo good and would definitely order this again. As a big fan of mushrooms, this made the burger hit the spot in every way. Lastly we ordered the chicken sandwich. It was perfectly seasoned and was a huge piece of chicken. The flavor was delicious but the bun did sort of fall apart trying to hold that big piece of chicken. I would still order again. If you're in the area or on your way to the beach, I would recommend stopping by and getting some orders to go. They only one had one small table but I guess this is setup to get your orders placed to take to the beach or home to go. read more
