Went for bowling. Friendly staff, great food/pizza and atmosphere. Will definitely be going back…read more Would like to check out the golf next.

Just spent 4 nights and 5 days here for a golf stay and play with almost 30 guys. We stayed in…read moretheir onsite villas and those were pretty great. Large, fit four persons per, with your own bed, own bathroom per bedroom, full kitchen and even a fireplace and deck. Very comfortable lodgings. My only hang up I experienced was some missing items and cleanliness. The first night I found what looked like blood on two of the four pillowcases of my provided pillows. I quickly tossed those outside and they were replaced by the cleaning girls the next day with apologies. I did try to reach someone at night but this place has NO ONE on staff after 10 or 11 so if you need something, you're on your own. We also didn't have any facial tissues and only 1.5 rolls of TP but that was remedied the next day. The showers aren't anything special; heads are very low and water is sparse but it gets the job done. The entryway to "check in" is their golf cart barn, which is weird. No real front desk. We had to walk into the bowling alley/ bar to get our keys, which were electronic. Bowling alley is nice! Good bar, good drink selection, private event room towards the back (which we had booked each night for meeting and food). Even bowled two nights of our stay which was fun. Now the best parts of this place are the employees; they're simply wonderful people. They make this place. Nicole, Ali, Olivia, & all the servers and desk peeps are awesome. And the food here is pretty effing good! Large portions of steak and chicken parm; just impressive kitchen they have here. Very happy with the food options. The worst part about this place is working with the owner. She is so scatter- brained and unhelpful. Do not deal with her if you can. 1. She threatened to release my tee times unless I paid at least half of the total bill of my group within a day IN ADVANCE of our arrival. 2. She wanted me to pick everyone's dinner for the first night by noon; she PDF'd me a menu to my email at 11:52, expecting me to get everyone's choices by then... 3. Supposed to have shuttles to THEIR courses; they didn't and couldn't get one so she and her husband took their personal vehicles and picked up a few of our guys. 4. Supposed to have shotgun starts on all THEIR courses. 1 out of 3 rounds we did. 5. Never booked our tee times when I signed our agreement back in DECEMBER; it took them 7 months to start discussing tee times and I had to personally call another golf club's owner to get us back on their tee sheet. 6. She is not good at working/ dealing with people. She talks over you in a rude, condescending manner. 7. She was onsite for 1 hour during our stay, when she had to make up for the shuttle debacle (of which she told her workers that I was supposed to set up). Now the golf here and at their other course, the Pines. Its not resort golfing, its not even county course golfing. Its rough around the edges. I will say the Pines course has a GREAT bar and facilities but the rest is very old maybe? The courses themselves are nothing to brag about. If I had to guess normal tee time costs during weekend rounds, I wouldn't pay more than maybe $30 a round at either one. Thats really what those courses are worth at best, to play, paying straight up. I would stay here again, but I'd limit my golf at their courses and play the other courses around town that we did enjoy. The villas, food, and employees were great. The owner sucks but limited interactions with her and you forget she exists.

Classic Michigan ski resort…read more.. I learned how to snowboard at Caberfae 25 years when in college, and this was the first time back since then... Caberfae was alright back then and still is today. Caberfae is a decent sized Michigan ski resort with no lift lines but minimal amenities, and can be a blast on a powder day. The biggest drawback though is if it's not a powder day, have fun shredding on a sheet of solid ice. After 22 years in the USAF and snowboarding all over the world (I am admittedly spoiled), I forgot what snowboarding on ice feels like... Ouch for anyone over the age of 40 lol. Although Caberfae does a good job of snow making and grooming of trails, the lack of continued fresh powder makes the resort an ice rink when fresh snow does not fall... Add in all the beginners that frequent the hill (and there's a lot) and this place can be a hospital bill waiting to happen, so be aware and have your head on a swivel. All-in-all though, Caberfae is a good family-friendly, beginner's resort, with respectably priced lift tickets, and has enough terrain to have a fun day on the hill. Dave Portnoy 6.8

I would not choose to golf here again. One of my first frustrations was that riders are charged the…read moresame fee as golfers, which didn't seem reasonable. Pace of play was a major issue. It took nearly three hours to get through the front nine because every group on the course seemed to be waiting on every hole. When we returned to the clubhouse, a staff member named Eric? blamed our group for the delays and even went as far to blame us for "three hours of tee times." We had a standard four golfers, and the groups in front of and behind us were also waiting throughout the round, so it was difficult to understand how the slowdown was being attributed to us. Once we went to go start hole 10, we were still having to wait so not sure how that explains us being at fault for the delays! I also left feeling uncomfortable because our group was the only Mexican family I noticed around us. While I can't say for certain why the delays were being blamed on us, it was hard not to question why our group was singled out when the entire course appeared to be backed up and other groups were experiencing the same waits. We paid for 18 holes but decided to leave after 11. After being spoken to in that manner, we no longer felt comfortable continuing our round. Regardless of any pace-of-play concerns, customers should be treated respectfully. Unfortunately, the interaction with staff completely changed the atmosphere of the day and left us with a negative impression of the course.

Driving into the course you are met by a very professional and classy sign denoting the golf course by name. A long, winding and picturesque drive eventually gets you to the pro shop. Let's get to the good stuff right away.... PROS: -staff is superb, friendly, professional and always smiling. -range balls are free with the purchase of your round. -the horticulture around the course is well maintained and very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. -definitely a challenging course for players of all skill levels -lightning fast greens -turf was very well-maintained and in great shape. -BYOB! They don't have a liquor license so bring your own and save! They have all the ice you need and coolers on the carts. -plenty of water stations on the course -off the tee most fairways are wide open and allow for those who may not hit the straight ball each time to still make a second shot. - greens fees include cart CONS: -a bit in the pricey side for a golf course near West Branch MI. $80 is a bit much. -under-rated by the PGA. 130 slope from the whites is not accurate. In my opinion, it plays more like 135-136 -some very large greens. There are times that you're so far away from the flag you wonder if the flat stick is enough. -lightning fast greens. (I do mean LIGHTNING!) -very challenging course for more novice players
