Wow, what a gem in such a remote place! It is a difficult course, but I really enjoyed the atmosphere and staff.

The course is kept in immaculate conditions, the greens roll well, and the service is excellent. The course provides great views and is fun to play in the summer and equally as nice in the Fall when the leaves start to turn. In addition to the nice golf, they have a great facility for dining and a very good pro shop. The venue can host large groups and over looks the 18th green an a large lake providing a great backdrop. All around, a great place to play golf and entertain.

I recently attended a function at Bucks Run, and we had a buffet-style meal. The meal consisted of…read morea garden salad, 2 different noodle salads, bread, mixed vegetables, potatoes, chicken legs and thighs, and roast beef. Dessert was a variety of cheesecakes and cakes. Cons: 1. They ran out of food. No cheese or cucumbers for the salad. No veggies, no potatoes, and no meat-chicken or beef. 2. Once they replenished the food, which took about 10 minutes, the veggies (now sliced carrots) were raw, the chicken was undercooked-still pink, and the roast beef was replaced by what I can only assume was some form of industrial grade rubber, in that it was tough, overcooked, and left an odd taste in the mouth. The potatoes were cooked well, though they were cold. The gravy that accompanied the "meat" was decent. 3. The texture and flavor of the desserts were...odd. The texture was just dry....like swishing sand around in your mouth dry. It was obvious that the desserts were bought not made, so I expected lower quality to begin with, but the texture made the desserts inedible. The flavor was hard to put a finger on. Seriously, chocolate cheesecake and layered chocolate cake are pretty straight forward, but the aftertaste left by both was almost mildewie and both left an almost oily film on the tongue. Given my dinner experience, I was excitedly hopeful for dessert, but, unfortunately, that was a let down as well. 4. Where was management? The poor kids running the buffet were not equipped to handle upset customers. Management needed to step up and handle the situation. We were not offered any compensation for our inconvenience let alone have that inconvenience acknowledged in the first place. 5. The waitresses seemed completely overwhelmed. Too few servers for the number of people in attendance. My drink was completely empty, and I had to flag one of them done to get it refilled. Not once did I see a smile or welcoming demeanor from any of them. Pros: 1. The grounds are beautiful. 2. They carry Coke products. Overall, I would not return to this establishment outside of having to attend because of a function. Having almost 20 years in the restaurant industry, I know too well the various factors that go into operating a restaurant and what needs to be done to guarantee happy, return customers. Based on my experience, I would suggest that Bucks Run reevaluates their management, wait staff, and kitchen crew to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Classic Michigan ski resort…read more.. I learned how to snowboard at Caberfae 25 years when in college, and this was the first time back since then... Caberfae was alright back then and still is today. Caberfae is a decent sized Michigan ski resort with no lift lines but minimal amenities, and can be a blast on a powder day. The biggest drawback though is if it's not a powder day, have fun shredding on a sheet of solid ice. After 22 years in the USAF and snowboarding all over the world (I am admittedly spoiled), I forgot what snowboarding on ice feels like... Ouch for anyone over the age of 40 lol. Although Caberfae does a good job of snow making and grooming of trails, the lack of continued fresh powder makes the resort an ice rink when fresh snow does not fall... Add in all the beginners that frequent the hill (and there's a lot) and this place can be a hospital bill waiting to happen, so be aware and have your head on a swivel. All-in-all though, Caberfae is a good family-friendly, beginner's resort, with respectably priced lift tickets, and has enough terrain to have a fun day on the hill. Dave Portnoy 6.8

The property is not easily accessible from the highway or main roads and there is no small town located near the resort. The Inn was extremely dated and sad. Our room was clean and had an old large jacuzzi tub; however, the shower porcelain was chipped and the drain was clogged after showering (without hair washing). Our room was pretty sparse and had an old small table with a small television (the size of a desktop computer), which didn't work very well. There was a large lobby with tables and chairs which perhaps in days gone by, served snacks and/or meals; however, there is no water or food served at the Inn, not even a light continental breakfast or self-service coffee/tea bar. For meals, there is a casual bar and grill located a short drive up the hill to the clubhouse with sport programming on the tv screens. If you live near Stanwood, MI, and want a quiet, peaceful spot to simply golf for a weekend, void of a nearby town, restaurant, pub, sightseeing or walking path, this is the place for you. We visited the pro shop located near the clubhouse; however, found the store clerk somewhat unfriendly.

Multiple drill holes are on the door without being patched. The carpet in my room and the hallways has multiple disgusting stains. The paint in my room and the hallway is chipping. The room and hallways are poorly lit and smell like mold. The microwave in my room is so old I am not sure how to work it or if it is safe. The microwave stands on an equally as old mini fridge like a college dorm room. The interior is from the early 80s at best and very old. The price? $200 per night is too higher for what they offer in return. The night desk attendant answered "I do not know" to every question asked by multiple guests. "Which war is my room?", "Where do we get wood for the fire pit?
