Alpine Blue not only allowed dogs, but had their resident farm dog sitting on the passenger side of one of the carts going up and down the dirt road. This local farm also beats others in prices! At the end of May, only cherries and blueberries were available to pick and everything was $4 per lb except the yellow cherries which were $4.50/lb. What a steal with today's inflation! The 1st farm we went to was way more than this. I like that this farm is widely open and you can explore anywhere you'd like. There were so many variety of cherry trees to choose from and I was surprised how large of an area there was for the blueberries. Not sure if we missed where the ladders were, but some folks near us had one. The place is clean and well maintained. Some paths were full and lush with grass. There were families just chilling and having a picnic in the orchard. Another plus is that it wasn't crowded like some of the other farms; we hardly saw anyone while exploring. They even offer rides up or down the road. All the workers there were so friendly. The sprinklers were on at the time we went, which made it fun dodging water and helped cool us off in the near-90° heat. There were portable washing stations and potties, and a sink by the check-out in case you want to wash your hands or fruit before bringing home. Overall, a great relaxing experience. Huge orchards, unbeatable prices, fresh fruit, and dogs allowed!

Debbie advised me of the rules (don't go into neighbors space) and I was free to roam & pick as I wanted. This was a great therapeutic experience, and the cherries taste amazing! Price was $4/lb. His prices for cherries are more than competitive at $3.50/lb vs the $5/lb down at Lodi Blooms nearby. I cant remember his price for walnuts, only that they are incredibly healthy and taste good chopped up in salad and that their stamp on the brown bag is so cute. His cherries are organic and sweet and also a balancing tart. We ate our entire $40 batch of cherries within 3 days and was bummed when he closed by his 2nd weekend open. Protip: See him as soon as he says it's open. Dont wait. I liked the little things there that makes our family's experience complete each time...his kids are very sweet and play with my kids when we come and although it's a small benefit, we all seem to need his bathroom and a good hand washing at some point of our stay. It felt welcoming to be able to use his cool tempered & clean bathroom in his home when we needed it. Not some stank, commercial Porto potty outside. He also welcomes a few shoots at the basketball court. Overall, its our annual welcome-to-almost- summer, school-is-almost-over cherry picking spot. Its healthy outside time for the kids and adults & I recommend Burge Farm very much. I suggest checking Facebook or call (Oscar is very good at responding) for updates on opening and closing dates. This a HIDDEN GEM. INCREDIBLE RIPE STRAWBERRIES! Even the ones that don't look magazine ready are…read moreamazing! Their strawberries are deep red, juicy, flavorful, and sweet sweet sweet. If you've only had grocery store strawberries, these are life changing. I've seen them sell other fruit (e.g., cherries, blueberries, raspberries, nectarines). I get their cherries when I don't have time to go to the U-Pick farms. They are good (better than any grocery store), but their strawberries are still the best. I haven't tried their selection of veggies (e.g., tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, and more). They are open 7 days a week, 8am to 7pm, or until they sell out. They're easily accessible driving from Davis Rd and Eight Mile Rd. There's always space in their gravel parking lot. The line, if there is one, moves fast. They take cash and credit cards ($1 fee). In the 2023 season, it was $12 for 3 pints (called a white box); $20 for 1/2 flat (6 pints); $35 for a flat (12 pints). They're very generous about filling the pints that they're piled high. These are picked at their prime, peak ripeness so they don't last long. (Strawberries don't ripe after they're picked like bananas and avocados.) So it's important to enjoy them right away. Because they're so good, we (two adults) eat about 3 pints every two days; I'm here twice a week. To make your strawberries last longer: (1) DO NOT wash them until you eat them, (2) Place paper towels in a tupperware container with a tight lid, (3) Place the strawberries in a single-layer on the paper towel, (4) Then refrigerate, (5) Rinse your fruit when you're ready to eat. Their strawberry season is April through June. As of June 10, 2023, they told me their season has about two more weeks left. I am very particular (passionate, boujee, and snobby) about fruit and I can't help to brag how good their strawberries are.
