Not only does this orchard have great tasting cherries, they have great looking cherries as well. They do a great job in sorting the bad ones out and giving you the best grade cherry that they can give you. You can even see them sorting them out right in front of you. I have already bought 6 huge boxes of cherries here because they are that good. Not all for me of course, but because my family loved them as well. I had family from the Bay Area over for Memorial weekend for my brothers birthday and brought a box to the party and they pretty much begged me to go back because they wanted to buy a box because the ones they get out there don't taste good. I thought they would be closed around 5:30 but they were still open and said they usually close around 6. At first they couldn't fulfill the 4 boxes I was asking for, but they went out of their way and did it for me anyways. If you don't want to buy overpriced beat up cherries at the grocery stores or that nasty old looking cherries you see at the corner head out here and get some freshly picked cherries. If you don't know how to get out here just drive down Highway 88 toward Lockeford and they will be on the side with the gravel patch with plenty of room to park. Right between 8 Mile Rd. and HWY 99.

Found this cherry farm near me so I decided to check it out…read more I went on a Sunday, only one one other family on grounds picking. Debbie advised me of the rules (don't go into neighbors space) and I was free to roam & pick as I wanted. This was a great therapeutic experience, and the cherries taste amazing! Price was $4/lb. They're only open a short time during cherry season, nice place to visit alone or with family/kids. I really enjoyed it! I'll be back next season!

Originally it was just cherries for sale. Now its cherries, walnuts, and did I see T shirts too? At the backyard past the bathroom is a sandy play table, surf swing, motorized kids cars, trampoline, jungle half dome, to allow the kiddos let out some energy and tables to sit & chat at for adults. Their chicken coop has moved and grown, and the owner had helpers helping and two tents out instead of 1. Its lovely seeing his business grow and I hope to see a pumpkin farm in his future like he desires. I'd say call and see if he opens it in October. Support local family businesses. His prices for cherries are more than competitive at $3.50/lb vs the $5/lb down at Lodi Blooms nearby. I cant remember his price for walnuts, only that they are incredibly healthy and taste good chopped up in salad and that their stamp on the brown bag is so cute. His cherries are organic and sweet and also a balancing tart. We ate our entire $40 batch of cherries within 3 days and was bummed when he closed by his 2nd weekend open. Protip: See him as soon as he says it's open. Dont wait. I liked the little things there that makes our family's experience complete each time...his kids are very sweet and play with my kids when we come and although it's a small benefit, we all seem to need his bathroom and a good hand washing at some point of our stay. It felt welcoming to be able to use his cool tempered & clean bathroom in his home when we needed it. Not some stank, commercial Porto potty outside. He also welcomes a few shoots at the basketball court. Overall, its our annual welcome-to-almost- summer, school-is-almost-over cherry picking spot. Its healthy outside time for the kids and adults & I recommend Burge Farm very much. I suggest checking Facebook or call (Oscar is very good at responding) for updates on opening and closing dates.
