I was so excited to try this restaurant as it was a recommendation from a friend, and it did not disappoint! Zuzanna was my waitress, and she was so kind. She answered all my questions and was just so polite. That's something that stood out to me amongst all the staff, they were so mannered and sweet. As for the food... oh my goodness! What a great restaurant for my first night in Poland! I got the pierogies to start, pan fried is my favorite! I also got the roasted turkey, which was also BEYOND! I highly recommend enjoying your meal with a glass of Winnica Amelie's white wine! I will be dreaming about this meal for a while, and for the staff, kudos to who trained them because they were just wonderful!

My big splurge of my 2 week European adventures...this classy and traditional Polish restaurant offers all the royal dishes served to the Polish elites and royalty. Not sure what to order, the grandma next to me suggested I get the 6 course tasting menu for 290PLN/$$69. Service was professional and friendly 0 Glass of Prosecco to start 0 Bread and special lard spread. 1 "A Board of cold cuts" - a selection of delicious, smoked Old-Polish meats from Nowa Wieś Szlachecka, traditionally cold-smoked, served with home-made horseradish, plums macerated in vinegar and pickled mushroom. 2 Pierogi Sampler 3 pieces stuffed with of meat, cabbage and mushrooms, 3 SOUP Traditional Polish red borscht on beetroot sourdough, served in a cup 4 MAIN COURSE Wild boar steak in juniper marinade, grilled over beech hardwood fire, served with juniper sauce, grilled potatoes and red cabbage with raisins in wine...it was a huge piece of meat! Delicious! Cooked Medium-Well, it was still very tender and flavorful. 5 DESSERT Mazurek - raspberry shortbread tart in almond flakes And choice of coffee or tea 6 A shot of their home-made mint liqueur, lovely! This was all delicious and A LOT of food! I did eat it all, but if you're a normal sized couple, one person could order this while the other orders a single entree and maybe a Sedessert.

Great spot in town to eat at. The restaurant is nestled in between stores so you can miss it if you're not looking for it. Sat at a table downstairs which was not too busy. Quiet with not much chattering. Great for a quiet dinner. Interesting tavern decor inside. Server was very attentive and checked on us a lot. Food was great. I really enjoyed the roasted pork knuckle here. It was moist and juicy! The cabbage rolls were stuffed and really good!

Bread and no butter! Instead, pork fat with bacon!

Food - ordered Salmon, pork roast, pork dumpling fried, and apple pie. All excellent and very satisfying! All very filling! The side dishes that came with the main dish were also very tasty especially that buttered spinach and cheesy potato that came with the salmon! Service - good! Young polish staff who are either going to college or just finished high school. Yeah, they are that friendly to share those things about them :) Ambiance - very private and rustic-ish. Felt also like a family-owned one with their big family picture displayed Overall, very nice. So nice we ate both lunch and dinner at the same day! Imagine that!

This was a great spot we found along our adventure for the day. The food was very good and fresh. The beef tartar was excellent. We sat outside and it was nice to people watch. Service was very good. Pierogie were yummy.

Since this is a traditional Polish restaurant, we just tried the most popular Polish dishes: Meat and Mushroom Dumplings, Grilled Trout and Polish Red Borscht, plus a salad for vegetables. The dumplings tasted great and can compare with the best Chinese dumplings I've had. The borscht soup is quite different from Russian or Ukrainian borscht that I've had before and also very flavorful. The grilled fish is the best I've had in a long time.

Very good restaurant in the Old Town part of the city, with great food, really good service, and reasonable prices. The interior is also amazing. I had only a main of Wild Boar Steak and it was tasty, well presented, a pretty big dish and at a fair price given the portion and quality. I had also a glass of wine that was pretty good. Definitely worth a visit!

The first time I dined here was 2 years ago on my first visit to Krakow. That evening is unforgettable for many reasons, but I particularly recall the delicious meal of pork cheek, horseradish, and cranberries. I also made friends with a stylish couple from Oslo sitting at the table next to us. We ended up drinking wodka until the wee hours. Good times. Tonight was even better. I had the herring app, the pâté app, and borsch. To start, I love the lard brought with the bread. The herring app had long, thick pieces of herring with great flavor. The slaw that accompanied was made with sour cream, apples, and onions and was better than we make at home. The pâté was perfect. Not salty. The cranberries had a distinctive flavor with cloves. I didn't care for the borsch. It was clear. I prefer a creamier variety with more herbs. My Polski hottie devoured a pig dish and pierogi's. I tried his purple cabbage- excellent! And the (meat) pierogi's were the best I've had. Ever! The price is reasonable considering they are consistently wonderful with an Old World ambiance. The restaurant is located on multiple levels in a building that was erected in the 13th century. Stunning appointments and architecture. They also serve the wodka at the right temp!

In town for the weekend and hankering for some traditional Polish food I sniffed this place out on Yelp and headed on over. Finding restaurants like this is why I love you other Yelpers so much, you know all the best places to eat! We had no reservation but showed up around 7pm on Friday night and got a table no problem. Before we ordered we were served a basket of bread with a side dish containing lard and chunks of cooked pork, mmmmmm it was so good, the shape of things to come! The pierogis were the must have starter as far as I could see, we got two plates and I wasn't disappointed. If truth be told I could have skipped the main and just kept eating them all night, I'm glad I didn't though because the mains were just as tasty! Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive and we weren't kept waiting for our courses, the interior decor gave an upmarket feel to the restaurant yet when the bill came it was remarkably good value. Anyway, you have read enough. Get on over there and grab some pierogis for yourself, you won't regret it.

A really nice and quite spot! Stayed in Krakow for 4 days, and this is the last night here, by far the best food and service in town! The beet soup was amazing, and the horseradish sauce dish was great too!

Pierogi with mushrooms and cabbage is very well prepared in this restaurant. Foie gras is extremely well made, and served with cranberries. The rye soup is a traditional Polish soup, and we are glad we tried it. For main course, the bigos is good, boar steak is a tad dry. Apple dessert is average. Fewer choices for wine by glass, but we were happy with what we got.

Rating out of 10: 9 Pod Aniolami is a really old restaurant in Krakow that not only I found on a number of top restaurant lists but also received personal recommendations. On my last night in Krakow, I went with 3 of my other colleagues and had an amazing dinner. They start you with the house lard and bread. I had lard a couple of times during the week, and this one was my favorite. It was very smooth with a mild flavor, and it was a nice topper for the bread. We decided to order 2 types of pierogis for starters: Russian (cottage cheese, potatoes and onion) and Venison. Their pierogis have apparently won first place in competitions in Krakow, and I can see why. The venison was my favorite of the 2, as the rich flavor of the venison was nice and robust amidst the delicious fried dumpling (but don't get me wrong, the Russian style was great too!). We also ordered the traditional Polish herring starter, which we had seen at other restaurants but had yet to order. Honestly, it was not my favorite, but it was prepared quite well. I ordered the sour rye soup (with bacon and eggs), another local specialty I had not tried yet, and it was amazing. It had a fabulous flavor throughout and was simply delicious. For dinner, I ordered what I had been recommended by many: the wild boar steak in juniper marinade. Holy cow (or should I say holy boar?) it was stunning. It was super tender and had a wonderful flavor, quite different from any steak I have ever had. I really enjoyed the rich, somewhat gamey flavor, and I wish I could eat this for dinner every night! It was served with potatoes and red cabbage that were also prepared well. After all of this food I was too full for dessert, but they did finish us off with their housemade mint vodka. It was super smooth and insanely minty. The service was wonderful, making for an amazing dining experience. If you are looking for a fabulous dinner, than this is the spot!

There were all kinds of fanciness here...

Nestled between two shops is the entrance to a wonderland of traditional Polish food and impeccable fine service. Pod Aniolami is super fancy, requires a reservation seemingly all the time, and offers small portions at high prices. That said, everything we had was incredibly tasty. Ok, so the spiced lard was pretty weird to our American palettes, but everything else was a taste sensation. We started our meal with borsht and mushroom soups--both incredible. For an entree, my mom and I split the Nobleman's Pork, which was tender and juicy and everything right. The apple pie (with egg liquor sauce) was a bit of a letdown--and more what we would call a tart--but even that couldn't mar a great meal.

There were two rooms and I sat in the long one (the ceiling arc reminded me of a tunnel for some reason) with the duck mural. The menu contained lots of Polish dishes and a dedicated duck section. A duck and pickles appetizer was served gratis. It spread easily on the accompanying slices of bread and was nice. I've not had duck presented like this before and when I piled a couple of the smaller pickle pieces on top the tartness added more complexity for the flavors. I'd order this if it was on their menu. Zurek soup tasted a little tangy and was filled with sausage, mushroom, potatoes plus a whole egg and was delicious. I wasn't sure what to expect but all the different ingredients made for an enjoyable bowl. The bread bowl also contributed by thickening the soup as it abosrbed the broth. The duck breast with smoked plum sauce was thick, cooked medium and very tender. There was a little too much sauce for me but I liked the different taste. The side of glazed carrots and peas had a hint of sweetness and completed the dish along with the potato gnocchi. Service overall was good and efficient. Would return.
