So park directly in front of their sign and the entrance is in the middle of the building. Another (fun) sidenote: there is a Yumm Café, Subway and Sushi Hana right at the beginning of the complex. In other words, plan lunch ahead of your appointment and you can enjoy your time with a foodie experience! In particular, I chose to meet with Geoff Dougall, one of the partners. He was knowledgeable, listened well and was quick to grasp the situation. They work with digital signatures, which simplifies matters and the necessity of having to drive out there. When we finish our first fiscal preparations with them next year, I will update to let you know how that worked out for our little company. Right now, the fee estimate looks reasonable.

On our initial calls, OD gave us some great free advice on our situation, and quickly built trust. Unfortunately, all that trust was quickly flushed down the drain during the tax prep process. We were pawned off to another accountant, who was very unresponsive and the opposite of prompt. After getting them all of our information weeks before their requested deadline, then multiple emails, calls, and voicemails, we finally got a return call late in the evening only a few days before the filing deadline asking for more information. After this, we didn't receive our review copy of the return until the date of the filing deadline! We had hoped (and communicated the same to OD), to have our CFP (not from OD) review the return before filing, but didn't get this opportunity due to OD being extremely late with the draft. We barely got it in! The simple way to handle this would've been clear communication, an estimate of the taxes we owed, and a recommendation to file and extension. None of this happened. There was no apology or acknowledgment of this, just an impersonal request for feedback months later, and a surprisingly huge $3500 bill (!!) in July. They also promised to review our return with us after the fact and make some recommendations for our next-year tax planning, but never made good on this promise. Needless to say, we will not be using OD in the future. Take your business and dollars elsewhere.

I received my $$ from the IRS, but my fiance received a letter indicating that there was missing paperwork with her return. We called Mr. Phil James and to our surprise he offered no explenation or help. He stated it was our job to deal with the IRS, and all we wanted was to make sure he enclosed the actual paperwork the IRS had been seeking! He was rude and inconsiderate. It was sad because he was highly recommended by a close friend of the family. Oh well, live and learn. Needless to say, we will not be going back to Mr. James again. Since my mom doesn't drive, I brought her paperwork to their office and showed them where the deduction would be. From day one communication from this business was exceptionally scarce. Most of my 'updates' were in the form of automatic reply emails. It had been almost 4 months since bringing them my mom's paperwork, and her amendment still had not been filed. Additionally, It had been over a month since I had received any word from this business (not even automatic email replies). In an act of desperation and frustration I repeatedly called their business one day in an attempt to find some clarity. The next day I received an email shaming me for my attempts to reach them and stating that after a "quick review" of my moms tax return they didn't "understand what is wrong with it", even though I carefully explained and showed where the omitted deduction was when I dropped off the paperwork. It was clear that this was a retaliation, and that my mom was now being punished for what they deemed as my bad behavior. Which again, was one day of trying repeatedly to reach someone by phone. When paying a business to do one's taxes, the consumer has a reasonable expectation that they will be prepared correctly, or that any errors or oversights will be corrected in a timely and professional manner. Their refusal to amend her tax return not only reflects a lapse in ethical judgment but also raises questions about their commitment to the principles of their profession. Anytime you need to actually talk to Kevin, he never responds and just assumes someone else is. No one know what is going on, ever. They had multiple system changes that affected quickbooks so made things extremely difficult. If I could charge him for how much time I had to spend on things that they are supposed to be doing, we wouldnt have a bill from them. Most of the time no one is even there. I have been doing taxes with them from 2013 to 2017. For 2017 I had given all the documents well in advance. Even then my taxes were returned on the last day. I stayed up all night going through them and found a lot of errors. Even then I payed them all the money they asked for no bargaining ever. After that I got 2 letters from IRS. I contacted these guys to get help as they had done the taxes. They said they are reviewing one notice and they will be a fee to file the reply with IRS. I said I will file the reply just tell me the computation of 2017 tax addition (Just a number) They waited till the last moment and then I get a mail saying they have filled a reply and I owe them $290. When replied back I did not hear anything back and then I get hit with a $243 Net 15 invoice and If I do not pay in 10 days 18% interest. I am really upset with these guys.
