We recently hired Fidelity Investments in Novi, Michigan. We settled on Kristin Dougherty, that was…read morea big mistake. We had several problems with Fidelity, from our pin on our debit card changing 3 times, which we never changed, to getting signed up for voice ID, which we never signed up for either. With all of these issues, I requested a meeting with our advisor Kristin to discuss, another mistake. Kristin was just going through the motions, wasn't interested in helping us, but during this process it became apparent that she didn't know how to operate her own company's website, constantly having to email people and text people to get the job done. After the meeting when I was walking out, she insulted me behind my back, calling me an unflattering name. I asked to speak with her manager, who looked into this unprofessional attitude and called me 1 week later saying that she spoke to Kristin and Kristin said and I quote". That wasn't one of my finest days " Really now, you insult a customer and that is all you have to say ? Our advice, if you have to use Fidelity, is to look for another advisor besides Kristin Dougherty. We found that she doesn't have a college degree, which in this industry is pretty much a must, plus she has an offensive way of trying to handle problems. One last thing about Kristin, when she talked with her boss, she said when I texted her that I ordered her back to the office via text message, not true and not only do I have the entire text chain that I had with her, but I also recorded our meeting in her office . Buyer beware, if you want a sales rep, which is what Kristin is, not really a financial planner, who insults you, and if you want somebody who cannot seem to navigate her own company website............she is your gal, otherwise shop around and get someone more professional.

Ally Invest - Ally invest website failure

What can I say. I've been with this company over 10 years, originally with Tradeking and then when…read moreit changed hands to Ally Invest. Customer service, tech support and using the app has been seamless. Stock trading has never been so fun and easy. That is, until this past year. 4 months ago I attempted to open a traditional self-directed traditional IRA online. After entering all of my information and submitting I received an error message. I tried different browsers, called Ally Invest, And nobody could figure it out. There was clearly a bug in their website. So they mailed me forms, I sent them in, no response. After 3 and 1/2 months of bad communication and never fixing the bug on their website I finally had an IRA account. But nobody even told me, I just noticed it one day. Well I chalked this up to one bad fluke in the website. I had my retirement company make out a $400,000 check to Ally Invest to put in my IRA. Then when I signed into my account they had a couple new consent forms which I agreed to end signed. But then the error message, "We are unable to process your request. Please call us 24/7 for help." I made multiple calls and spoke with different representatives And no one could help. When I asked to please speak with tech support I was denied. They said, we just don't do that. After going back and forth the representative finally said that tech support just couldn't comprehend the issue. They said they would submit a ticket and look into it. Bewildered I asked to speak with the supervisor in the representative said, "we just don't do that. I will submit a ticket and a supervisor will contact you within 24 to 48 hours." Well it's been 3 days now, I have no access to my accounts on my phone app or my computer. I have not heard from a supervisor or anyone else from Ally Invest. I can only assume that no one is calling me back and that at best, it will be 3 1/2 months before I can access my accounts. Oh wait, the representative said I can access my accounts. I just need to call him. Really! Well I've shredded the $400,000 check to Ally and had it made it out to Fidelity. And btw it took me no more than 30 seconds to create my traditional self-directed IRA on Fidelity's website. I submitted a request to have all of my funds transferred from Ally to Fidelity and today I finally get an email from Ally, "We received your request for an outgoing brokerage account transfer and it is currently under review." So what used to be my dream has turned into my worst nightmare.

They were so difficult to work with, and I was so dissatisfied with their Reps, that I insisted on making a change. I was told by someone in authority at Wayne County that I could opt out of the 457 Plan, and transfer my assets to an IRA. I chose Charles Schwab - Great Choice! Although Prudential cheated me as I left by selling my positions w/o my permission, Schwab has proved to provide the perfect choice for me, given my Investment strategies, and level of knowledge. Now, I use nothing but ETF's. In 2022, I broke even, when the S&P was down almost 20%, and the SH inverse S&P ETF was my biggest profit-maker! As I approach my 75th Birthday, I've achieved a 13X, that is, multiplied my NAV by 13 times, from its low in March of2009! Never could have done that with either of the prior 2 firms. Thank you, Mr. Schwab!
