Overall experience with Turney & Dunham was decent all things considered. Some things they got…read moreright, several things they didn't.... a 2.5 star review, but tipping upward to 3 stars because of their really good staff.
Off the bat, I wasn't too thrilled with a few things on their website and electronic presence. I tried using both their Google online chat feature and their text/question feature on their website... no one responded to either, at all (I have the impression the staff isn't even aware of the features TBH). So that was kind of disheartening. Otherwise, their website was awesome and set up well, it was very easy to organize and narrow down options... until I learned more once getting into store. So on their website, I found many Bosch models that were listed as being in-stock or at least available for order. However when I go into store, I was disheartened to find that not only were there no Bosch models in store (there were only 4 physical dishwashers in store, period), but that they don't even sell Bosch. How can a store even list a variety of items they don't even sell? Wasn't a fan of that, but they did have access to other good brands so I stuck around.
While I was not impressed with the showroom (it was more so just an empty room with appliances lined up in a tight spot), I thought the salesperson and office manager were great. They worked with me in a timely, friendly and quick manner to help me make a purchase of a real nice Whirlpool dishwasher. I'd say that the attentiveness and friendliness of their staff were some of their highlights.
On the flip-side though, installation was a very, very mixed bag. One reason I went to Turney & Dunham was because it's a local/non-chain store; I've always known that its better to purchase from the 'mom and pop' stores because they take ownership of their installations by doing this themselves and not subcontracting out. T&D has their own guy on staff, which I liked.
Delivery was on time and one week after purchase. Delivery guys dropped off dishwasher, said the install guy would be there later, and that they would return end of day to pick up the dishwasher. True to word, the install guy came and installed the unit. He was super friendly... however much to my dismay, he explained that he was having a hard time turning a valve which flowed water into the unit, and that while the unit was installed, I'd have to have someone else come to turn the water on. Not very happy, once he left I tinkered around and realized that all he needed to do was unscrew part of the valve to relieve the pressure and simply reapply. I did this (I'm no plumber but managed), and the unit worked fine. So while I'm happy to have a working, quality dishwasher (which is the other bulk of the good rating), I was certainly not happy that I was left to finish the install myself or even potentially wasting money by calling a plumber.
By end of the day, the delivery guys didn't come back to pick up the dishwasher. I called, and was told they'd come back the next day. Still, they did not come. T&D was closed the next day, then the day after due to weather which was understandable, and all in all it took about 5 days for them to pick up my old one. But again, the folks who organized it on the phone and who picked up were super nice and friendly.
All in all, service was better than not, but there were certainly some things that T&D could work on. If I shop there again, I'd suggest getting a better understanding and commitment of their install and delivery/pickup. Otherwise, decent place overall.
