Tried attending Pima for the MA program and on my first visit was rushed to enroll, fill out…read morepaperwork, placement test and admission tasks without having financial aid figured out. Had an apt with the financial aid department and fafsa only covered half the tuition where I was told about their "in school payment options" that the specialist was going to have to meet with the campus president to approve. I tried applying for other loans but was not approved without a co-signer. Was asked multiple times to try and get one after explaining multiple times I did not have one. An entire week went by before I got any update from the financial specialist that was waiting to meet with campus president to go over this and was told "heard back from them! they want to know if you would be willing to make a $400 down payment and then begin your $400 monthly on the first day of class" To me, that meant as long as I was willing to make that down payment, I was good to go and was told to go ahead and complete my class orientation. 2 days later, I had still not gotten confirmation on the down payment date to pay so I reached out to another staff member that helped me enroll where all of a sudden I was told they didn't approve the payment plan and wanted a higher down payment POTENTIALLY but did not have any number to give me. I offered $1000 down but that it was the most I could do. I was told I would get an update the following day, that did not happen. I was then texted the next morning with an update of "Unfortunately that isn't enough, our campus president isn't confident you would be able to AFFORD $400 as a Medical Assistant the year after you complete school" So can you do a higher down payment to make her more comfortable? At this point I said no and asked for everything to be cancelled. Why are in school payments even an option if this is how you're going to make students feel? Why present it as an option if your campus president doesn't believe in the salary for a program your school offers? Terrible communication, I left the experience feeling like all that was cared about was how much money they could get out of me and was then told I didn't deserve schooling because of a financial opinion of what I will or won't be capable of a year from now. I would avoid this school unless you have $20k to drop into their hands immediately.
