I finished high-school early and I spent half of my junior year and all of my senior year here but one hour of class in the morning where I assisted in our high school's main office. Back then I didn't feel they had the best support getting new students set up for their career paths. Especially for the unique educational requirements Arizona had and still may have for social work and psychology. They have come a long way. I was an honor student here and my favorite class was sociology. For a special project on a paper my teacher Thomas Powell who used to work in the criminal justice system and who has since passed, met me in Scottsdale with a couple other LGBTQ students in our class. He took me on his Harley Davidson and we all met at a gay bar his close friend owned. Don't worry our professor was was very appropriate and was old enough to my my father! He had 2 daughter's older than me he cared about dearly. We had so much fun, I drank Shirley Temples and they drank soda. I learned so much and we met some really awesome people. We passed out surveys people filled out and we learned finding jobs was challenge. We did a class project together working with local businesses and corporations in the valley advertising and communicating with the LGBTQ community jobs that were available to everyone! We advertised at job fairs all that year. That project is why I and my two classmates made it on the honors program. The bar owner is now 77 and was a huge part of the start of and opening the door for the Melrose District. We still keep in touch even to this day. So many good teachers, students and good times here. I am glad to see more eaterys in the area and Starbucks. This area is really growing.

After completing ID verification and having my photo taken, I was informed about the testing procedures and escorted to the testing area. All personal items were placed in individual lockers that were zip-tied shut for security purposes. After I completed the test, the staff returned my ID, cut the Ziploc tie in front of me, and provided me with a printout of my test results. Upon finding out that I had passed my test. All staff congratulated me and encouraged me. Not that I want to take another professional test, but this site was somewhere I would return to if the occasion arose.

It is so frustrating. We had four different instructors, despite supposed to be having one, we had a class canceled 30 minutes before it was supposed to start, and then I was marked absent for the make up class, despite communicating, with three different instructors in personnel of the team, to verify my make up date. I could have been employed last week, but because of their system a month later, and I have still yet to receive any certification. Save your money and find somewhere that values you as a student..

Back in November, 2014 me and my wife were looking to enroll her in a private dental academy in the…read morePhoenix area after first trying to earn a dental assisting certificate through the Rio Salado Community College system from 2013-2014. Well, Rio was a joke due to all the expensive pre-requisite classes required, the excessive book fees, the lack of hands-on training and the endless time it took. On top of that, they postponed any dental classes for an entire semester. We finally gave up and met with the Altrain rep who, upon my request, provided the contact info of several former students and dental offices that had experience with Altrain. I followed up with some of those references and heard nothing but favorable reviews. That prompted me to sign my wife up for the program in December, 2014. Well, as of today (2/28/15), she only has 2 weeks left in the training program. She has learned alot with all the hands-on training Altrain provides. Altrain even arranged an externship with a dental office less than one mile from our home. My wife started yesterday. Hopefully, if things work out, she will get a job offer at the end of the externship. I recommend Altrain to anyone who wants to get into the dental assisting field. They have a quality program.

My experience here with the dental assisting program was far from great. I do want to point out…read morethat this was no fault of my instructor. The content of the course did not prepare me for my state exams and I had to do the majority of my studying through my own methods as I was provided with an insufficient amount of study materials. Additionally, many parts of the course that were promised to me were completely absent from my experience, such as the opportunity to work with children and get my certification to do so. This part of my course was skipped entirely. The only exam that was paid for after my graduation was my radiology exam, which was especially frustrating because part of my tuition that I paid out of pocket for was both exams, radiology and coronal polish. After graduation, communication with the people in the office basically stopped entirely unless I would drive there in person, which is very inconvenient as I live 40 minutes away from the main campus. The resume that was made for me at the end of the year didn't even have the correct graduation date and was off by 2 years! Overall extremely unsatisfied with my experience at this school.

In the beginning it most definitely was rough and challenging for my daughter. Although, at a school like Basis where; the curriculum exceeds expectations, support systems are phenomenal, and resources are readily available, I now know what all the hard work was/is for and it's worth it because you see real results. My daughter is in seventh grade now, and I have seen so much improvement. Basis and my family have collectively worked together to expeditiously get positive results and we will continue working with Basis. I try my hardest to keep my daughter on track and it is clear Basis is doing the same. Without their guidance and advice on how to help my daughter at home, I would be useless. This is a school that motivates their students to excel and challenges students in a way other schools don't. If you believe in your child and know that your child is capable of doing hard work then Basis is for you! This school is a school for kids that want to work hard and won't shy away from a challenge. Additionally, the benevolent faculty and staff are highly qualified and well-rounded. If you would want anyone to be mentoring, advising or teaching your children...then Basis is where they need to be. I am more than positive that after attending Basis my child has and will continue to exceed my expectations and others. I thank Basis for this, and appreciate the prodigious experience they've given my family. We love Basis!
