To all property management companies, if you don't want your tenants to get hit and run by your plumbers, STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!
I rarely give 1star reviews but this is truly a horrible, frustrating experience for me and my partner. We lived in a condo association, parked our car outside of our own garage for a short period of time since there's street cleaning, the car was parked there not longer than half an hour since we were planning to leave soon. We were being notified by our neighbor that they saw damage in our rear bumper and debris on the floor while he was walking their dog. No notes, no calls, straight up hit and run.
Since our property doesn't have cameras, we called the police immediately, after talking to all our neighbors (we have a very lovely community, everyone was trying to help and we did check all their cars to make sure they didn't do it), we all agreed that the most likely possibility will be the plumbers, who got hired by our property managers, plumbers on demand. They came in for a work order for our neighbor the exact time the accident happened, our neighbors heard loud honking while they finished their work and driving out of the property. The police officer called the plumber, asked him if he could come back so we can do some more investigation to rule him out, denied and said he had other jobs to do. Following with the police officer asked him if he honked while leaving our property, also denied (of course, but our neighbors heard it and saw their car during that time). Asked him to send over pictures of his car, there are some marks on one of the corners but since it's a truck with rubber protection, the marks are not obvious enough and also the picture is a little blurry to be considered as evidence.
Am I 100% sure that the plumber did it? No I'm not, but all the evidences (debris, neighbors ring camera, neighbors statement, timing, the size of the car can possibly did the damage and driving trajectory ), we are 90% sure he did it, given that our car was only parked there for 30mins and it's a private road for only our neighbors, it's really not that hard to narrow down the targets. The part that pissed me off the most was that the driver honked loudly and was trying to get people's attention while he was leaving, if he didn't hit someone's car, why would he do that? And later when the police officer called, he decided to pretend non of that happened?
If he was really innocent, at least tell the officer the truth about the honking and explain the situation. If you he was really innocent, why won't he come back to so we can take a look of his car to rule him out, he immediately rejected to come back, not even trying to schedule a later time after his current job is done, isn't that suspicious? We are not trying to get anyone in big trouble but hit and run is defiantly unprofessional. If you can't take the responsibilities when something bad happens in your company, why should people trust you to do a good job. Speechless. read more
