$1000.00 quote to clear out 2 drains...WTH??? I showed Martin Lazy 15 receipts from Router Rooter for the exact same work done over the past 6 years for 1/3 the price. His response? 'Our service & equipment is better', for 3 times the price you better be working with gold and/or platinum...don't give me that crap!! My experience with Plumber On Demand warrants a public warning. I contacted them for a minor leak under a kitchen sink - a straightforward repair involving parts I had already priced at under $20 at Home Depot. The technician arrived, gave me no options regarding parts or approach, completed the job in approximately 20 minutes, and charged $500. When I requested an itemized invoice breaking out parts and labour, he refused. Two and a half months later, I vacated the unit, which then sat empty and unused while listed for sale. When I returned nearly nine months after the original repair to prepare the unit for incoming tenants, I discovered moisture had accumulated under the sink in a space that has seen almost no use since the repair. When I contacted Plumber On Demand to discuss the issue, I was met with hostility. The representative I spoke with was dismissive and rude, stating flatly that they don't warranty their work - at any point. My explanation that the unit had been unoccupied for the majority of that time was ignored entirely. The situation has since worsened. My tenants reported on move-in that water is now leaking from the original joint and spraying from a second valve that had no issue prior to the repair. The work has demonstrably made the problem worse. When I raised this, I was told I was welcome to pay another service call fee - plus additional repair costs - for them to assess damage their technician caused. I have worked with many contractors and tradespeople over the years. This is the only experience I would describe as both incompetent and predatory. The pricing was excessive, the workmanship was poor, the billing was opaque, and the customer service was contemptible. I would strongly urge anyone - particularly in an emergency when you may feel you have no choice - to take the time to find an alternative. This company does not stand behind its work. They took advantage of our tenants who were in distress when they called in for a main drain back-up. Plumber on Demand charged double the going rate of any more reputable companies. The original snaking was priced at $820 (without any camera inspection). The is double any other reasonable and reputable company. The price for the remediation was insane and they barely did anything. I'm too embarrassed to list the price, but it was well over $5500. The drain ended up backing up again 24 hours later. The plumber refused to use his camera without charging. Other companies include the camera services with the main drain snaking. How else would the plumber know if the problem was resolved??? What a dingbat! Worst part is, Plumber on Demand said that the issue will happen again within 3 days. What kind of plumbing company charges $6500 and does not fix the problem. We ended up hiring a reputable plumbing company the next day and they found the problem within 30 minutes using a camera and fixed the problem within 1 hour at a fraction of the price. I'm sure this company just subcontracts to "bottom of the barrel" plumbers with no regard for quality control and/or training. No wonder their TrustedPro score is 1.3/5. Their HomeStars and TrustedPilot scores are not much better. Plumber on Demand should be ashamed of themselves. I will never make this mistake again. I just wanted the plumber gone. I paid $367 for a plumbing visit from Plumber On Demand, and the technician (Austin) left my toilet non-functional -- breaking the fill valve during the service. This issue did not exist before their visit. I contacted the company multiple times, and after being completely ignored, they finally responded by offering to "fix" the problem for an additional $350+tax -- essentially asking me to pay again for damage they caused. There was no accountability, no proper resolution, and communication was dismissive at best. I'm now forced to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau and Ontario Consumer Protection due to their negligence and refusal to take responsibility. This dude was friendly and all that and came into the house to fix our problem (cartilage in the shower faucet) Their tactic is to quickly scare you into thinking your whole pipe line will get fucked "unless you change the whole thing". anyways he was also saying the parts we had for him to switchout were "bad" but he ended up using them anyways. So dumb This guys name was George w/ the heavy European accent (never gave last name, which I noticed), ended up over charging us. Their typical pipe cleaning was 480, but he added an additional 370 for no reason, interesting. Anyways he was also talking about Christianity and being a good person tryna sap up to my mom. Saying the "warrenty is 2-3 years or whatever" literally didnt have product or policy knowledge (always making calls to his "office"), I have a voice memo cos I started recording the conversation cos this guy seemed fishy to begin with. Anyways, the breakdown of his pricing didn't make sense and he knew that, but he just rushed out the door. They're a scam. We called because of sewage backup in our basement. someone came to "fix" it. Charged over $600 for 30 minutes of work. A few days later the basement backed up with sewage again. Leak in my kitchen ceiling from toilet upstairs. They sent Malcolm who said he;d need to do a drywall check which would cost $400. All he did was cut a 10 x 10inch patch and said wax was gone and there was rot. There's no rot. Foolish and panicking old lady I agreed thinking that would be the resolution. Oh no, next I'd need to change my fairly new toilet for $2000 at least. The other solution was a temporary fix he said for an additional $500 waxing job. To get him out of my house, I settled on paying him $395 for doing damage and absolutely nothing! It was supposed to be $45 plus tax, and foolish me got ripped off with no resolution and more cost. I would never use Plumber on Demand (Toronto). They have refused to return a $2,200 deposit I made two weeks ago despite several requests. On March 31st they quoted me $4500 for a water tank replacement. I made a deposit. They subsequently doubled the quote at which point I cancelled the contract. I have asked for my deposit back several times and there has been no response whatsoever. Reliant subsequently replaced the tank at a much lower cost than Plumber of Demand's first quote. TL;DR: THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!! Their whole business model is not hard to figure out - they get you to pay their "consultation fee" for $50 then quote you an unfathomable amount for any simple task, which no reasonable person will take, then make money off of their "consultation" and leave. I even paid for his parking for nothing. I called and asked for help for a simple reattachment of my sink that collapsed. At first, the receptionist seemed nice and reassured that they can help. I explained my issue in detail asked for a ballpark quote from the receptionist, not unreasonable at all in which every other company provided me with an estimate. wow have I ever been taken! I had an emergency blockage in my kitchen sink and bathroom shower. I asked that the plumber George kindly be careful of the house, he replied that he would take care as if his own. I received an invoice and paid via bank transfer when I phoned for an itemized invoice for insurance purposes, I was put off and they asked for a copy of the invoice which I emailed to them. George destroyed my bathroom shower tiles, made 7 holes in my basement ceiling and walls and continually complained that my house is old and he has never seen anything like it, (although he professed that he has been a plumber for 15 years) he then proceeded to make a giant hole in my kitchen ceiling - never once putting down a tarp just letting the debris fall where they may, he also broke a drain snake in my drain and then left it in my driveway. I now have to have the destruction fixed for more than they bilked me for. George is a terrible man and even worse plumber. This is a "business" that should be shut down. Wow, I really wish I read these reviews before I used this service. I looked on google reviews (which usually does not steer me too wrong) and maybe I should start just using yelp. I'm assuming this company hires people (or does it themselves) to write stellar reviews on google. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. I used Plumber On Demand Kitchener and they 1. Lied to me about how much the service call would be; 2. Quoted us $500 which we decided to not go with, knowing the problem did not cost that much (we ended up fixing it for free after googling and playing around with it); and 3. They charged us an incorrect amount that was not even the amount on the invoice (which after reading these views, seems to be a common practice with these scammers). I am currently in a dispute with them about how much they have charged my credit card, and will have to get TD visa to fix this charge if they do not get back to me (which I doubt they will). I called this company on June 1st, 2023 -explained that I had a leak and needed an experienced Plumber to take a look at it and hopefully fix it. I was told that there is an experienced Plumber near me and that I will be the next stop. Several hours later I received a call that the Plumber who was nearby cannot come but the caller can come but can't be there until 4:30 or 5:00 pm. I should have cancelled at that point but was feeling desperate so agreed to wait for this new Plumber to show up. He showed up and was a very young man who did not have the experience I wanted. He was nice and friendly and admitted to us that he was still an Apprentice. He proceeded to cut haphazard holes in the ceiling of the room that the leak was in, located the leak but was unable to fix it. He realised more holes had to be cut in another room and that he could not do it. He is an Apprentice and he charged me $395.50 for less than 30 minutes of work, made a proper mess and could not fix the problem. I had to get Professional Plumbers to come in the following day and they advised me to try and get my money back from Plumber On Demand. I called the company twice and left messages that were going to be given to Managers: Anthony and Amy. Neither of them has the Professionalism or decency to return my call. Its over a week since the message was left for Anthony and last week for Amy. I told them they can keep the $95.00 fee for sending someone out but I would appreciate a refund of the balance of the $395.50 I paid them on June1st. I can see other reviews here of dis-satisfied customers who never got their refund. So I am guessing I will not be getting a refund for these less than professional people. I really should have read these poor Yelp reviews before trusting this company, or better yet took a moment to see that Plumber on Demand has 18 complaints filed against them on Better Business Bureau. This company really takes advantage of people who don't have time to do more thorough research. Not sure why they show up first in google listings, but do yourself a favour and move on to the next company. My experience was very similar to complaints on BBB, where many spoke about having credit cards over-charged, being over-taxed, and having poor quality/unnecessary work done. Over the phone this place says assessment is $80, but they don't mention HST ($90.4). They also refuse to give any ballpark estimate on total costs ahead of time. I figured this was somewhat understandable, but it became quite clear this ambiguity is intentional. We had a small puncture in a pipe that I probably could have fixed myself, had I the tools/equipment. The plumber "George" walks in, and gives his assessment in literally 5 seconds. From all his feigned "hmms" and "ohhhs" I could immediately tell he was about unconvincingly exaggerate the cost and labour required to fix the problem. He tells me it will cost $540, and will be a "really tough/long job that requires lots of parts." FAST FORWARD: A different plumbing company completed the job well in 1.5 hours, and charged less than HALF that ($250). Although I already knew Plumber on Demand was overcharging and being dishonest, I still wanted to confirm with a friend. "George" immediately starts pressuring me to make a decision, telling me he has another job to go to... because an extra 2 minutes was too much time to wait in addition to that realllly grueling 5 seconds he spent. He tells me he would need to come back several hours later because he "didn't have the parts." That was all I needed to hear... I tell him no thanks, he gives me the invoice and tells me that unbelievably difficult 5 seconds assessment will cost $94. What?? Oh, HST is not included...ok, I foolishly take his word, and pay via e-transfer because it was the ONLY option available, because apparently his credit card reader isn't working. After reading complaints on BBB, and being overcharged myself, I'm pretty sure they insists on e-transfers so customers cannot get their money back when cheated. I paid the $94 "George" told me it was, rather than the $90.4 it actually was. It's only $3.60 difference, but on a matter of principle, and the fact that the entire experience was a waste of time, I requested that few dollars back. A week later, and after several phone calls and emails, Plumber on Demand still has not refunded that back. This tactic is consistent with what many have said on BBB. To add insult to injury, "George" refused to take off his dirty outside shoes, and insisted on walking all over our carpeted basement. For Asian folk, this is already a no-no, but during a bloody pandemic, this was really irritating. Very Bad Experience With Plumber On Demand I had a very bad experience with this company and I will never use them again. I suggest that if you need a plumber look elsewhere. I found the service man incompetent and rude and the owner off the company, Mr. Martin Lazi, uncooperative, rude, unprofessional and irresponsible. The job was simple - unplugging the toilet. This is a basic plumbing job. Yet, the service man managed to scratch and damage the inside of the toilet bowl so badly that I had to replace my toilet with a new one. I hold the company - Plumber On Demand - responsible for the damage and I expect them to compensate me for both the service call and for the cost of my new toilet. I talked to the owner of the company about this issue and he offered to refund the service call and the cost of a new toilet. This offer was reasonable and acceptable to me. Based on this offer, I had a new toilet installed. However, in a subsequent call with the owner he denied his original offer, refused to compensate me and hung up on me. While I tried to resolve this issue amicably, I was not successful due to the lack of cooperation from the owner. A scam of a company. All these reviews are accurate and I wish I would have read them before booking. I needed an insurance report on my faulty dishwasher. The man showed up, saw my dishwasher for less than 1 minute ( didn't even look under it) and wrote a inaccurate report. The report was so vague and was 2 sentences. When I asked for more detail and specifics about the actual leak, the company dodged my emails and calls for two days. When I finally got a hold of the manager, he was very rude and told me to tell him what to write in the report. When I explained to him that the leaking was coming from a pipe and not where the plumber had stated, he got even more rude and told me the report stands and no one was coming back. The plumber took photos and sent them to the manager, who then called in a quote of $900! We asked for a breakdown of costs and a written quote and he refused. He became verbally abusive on the phone and then hung up on us. The plumber asked for the $125 service fee and we refused, citing the Ontario Consumer Protection Act's requirement for a fair price (Part III, 15.2(b)m and a written quote (Part III 42.1). The next day another plumber made the repair for $197, 4 times less than their quote. On April 6, we received a letter from National Recovery Corp, claiming we owed $474.60! We then did some research on Plumber on Demand and found a long litany of issues and complaints from ripped-off consumers. There have been multiple complaints made through the Better Business Bureau and Ontario Consumer Services but it seems that Plumber on Demand continues to flourish extorting and blackmailing unwary consumers. I called them to fix my clogged sink and they over charged me plus the problem was not fixed and now I'm trying to get hold of them but no answer ..they don't even reply to my emails .. they are fraud people.Please do not call them .They do not reply because they know they have done something wrong .They are not honest people and di not trust them. Only wish I had seen the yelp reviews before I called Plumber on Demand. In my desperation of a flooded main floor, on a Friday afternoon when my regular plumber was unavailable I called them. My experience very much like everyone else on Yelp. Overcharged for plumbing services, waiting for plumber to return to finish work, talking me into work that probably did not need to be done, never being able to get hold of any one on the phone. Some of the work was going to have to be an insurance claim. It has taken them 5 months to get me that bill. I was shocked at the amount. It is full of services I did not receive, cost for "technicians" that were never here. All in all a complete scam. Now I am going to have to write a detailed time line of what happened, who was here when, what was done etc for the insurance company. I do not want them to pay the bill as it stands, and believe me I do not have any particular love for insurance companies. I will admit I am very naive when it comes to plumbing. Put plumbing and an emergency in ones home together and I am a sitting duck. And now I feel I have been washed down the river. If you are looking for a plumber, no matter what your situation; DO NOT CALL Plumber on Demand. My rating if there was such a thing would be a big fat zero or less. read more

I had a issue with my toilet bein block they sent someone who was a apprentice I told him to cover the floor before he did any work he said he had stuff he didn't have nothing he ruined all the grout on the tiles he also said he cleaned up after himself he didn't I called to make a complaint the lady hanged up on my face then called back a guy name Martin answered the phone said the owner was to rich to take calls I also after this point went to there office on 1310 dundas st e and he wasn't even tryna talk to me didn't wanna look at the photos that were taken he said he doesn't represent the company he represents himself so it shows how much he cares for the company then he also said the worker said there was stuff all over my floor which was not the truth cause I removed the two Matt's on the floor do not use these people at all they are not a good company what so ever very rude and unprofessional worst company ever read more

The plumber was 4 hours late. He overcharges for a dishwasher installation, I found out later when I called another plumber. He failed to install the dishwasher and blamed it on the size of our space. But it fit the previous dishwasher! He fit the pipes wrong so he didn't finish the job. He actually convinced us we bought a dishwasher too big, so we paid him for his services. But they are all standard sizes and after undoing his work, we installed it ourselves. We are asking for a refund but they blocked our number after asking to talk to a supervisor/manager. We are talking with the Better Business Bureau to deal with this. read more

The call center staff is friendly, but don't have much knowledge about the operation, i was asked to just forward all questions to the technician. The technician, Joseph, missed the original scheduled appointment, delayed twice, but did make it in the same day (5 hours later). He was polite, replaced the faucet (hight price, cost my landlord $850+hst), fixed 1 leaking issue from the faucet, however, my request of doing a complete inspection was not followed, the leaking continued from the p-trap & connecting pipe. Also, i was rushed to make payment while trying to wait for my landlord's reply, some more patience would be appreciated. Overall 2 stars, people are friendly, but can improve on knowledge & work quality read more
