He is there in half an hour with machinery to get the water out. Again, nice guy. Since his service on the carpet cleaning is excellent, we recently had him replace some carpeting. Three guys show up, tear out the old carpeting, move the big furniture and get the new carpeting in with minimal hassle. Great company. Super to work with.

The Magicians of Home Repair: How Alexander Contracting Saved Our 30-Year-Old Home…read more I don't even know how to share the stellar, stellar experience I had with Alexander Contracting in a way that will even remotely do them justice. I suppose I'll start at the very beginning. Our residence was severely impacted by the crazy winter weather. Due to the cold and snow, we had an ice dam. Up until this point, we were very fortunate to not need major house repairs. The residence is over thirty years old and for the most part has been well kept. That changed when the ice storms hit. The inside of our home became an Ohio version of Niagara Falls which had me getting rather impressive cardio running back and forth with pots, buckets and towels in vain. It was literally trying to catch a waterfall pouring into our home. The ceiling cracked open, the walls were suddenly cracking, the baseboards in numerous rooms throughout the house. it had the look of Pre-Armageddon. Once the mitigation finished removing the damage and drying everything up, there were holes everywhere, missing baseboard pieces, it basically resembled a crack house. At this point, I began doing homework. People warned me to be very leery with who I let into the home, the trustworthiness of the repair crew, jobs being started and then left in the middle. I've seen enough Rob Wolchek to know this was a problem. Added to that, there are vulnerable people in the residence, so I was admittedly freaked out. One of the first listings for contractors I came across after a Google search was Alexander Contracting. They had nearly all 5 star reviews on Google and Thumbtack so I gave them a call. I spoke with Paul and he said he would come and assess what needed to be done. Within minutes of meeting Paul, I calmed down instantly. Not only did he take the time to patiently answer the 20,000 questions I peppered him with, but he was very honest and explanatory giving me advice on what to do even if we decided not to use his company. As in, he had no skin in the game but was giving us advice as people very new to this process just to help us out even if we didn't use him. In the end, we went with Alexander Contracting and boy oh boy oh boy was that the best decision ever. They began doing work immediately. The two men who did the majority of the work, Sasha and Vasili were INCREDIBLE. They never stopped working. It was like watching Boxer from the book Animal Farm. We begged them to take food, drink and that it was okay to use the bathroom lol. Despite not having the leftover baseboards from the mitigation crew, they somehow like the magicians that they are, Paul found perfect replacements. The fellows fixed all the holes and cracks and got the paint colors down beautifully. Don't even get me started on the ceiling design. Our ceiling has a décor that's over thirty years old. These fellows were able to recreate the ceiling pattern PERFECTLY. Are they construction guys? Are they artists? You be the judge. Some of the wallpaper due to the repairs needed to be replaced. We had nooo idea what to look for and there was no chance in hell wallpaper from over 30 years ago would be found. Alexander Contracting did everything! They found STUNNING wallpaper for us to complement the home and we couldn't be happier. Walking through the home now, you not only wouldn't know there was a ginormous leak, but the work they did beautified our awesome place even more. They are truly the 'invisible' pros. They treated our home with such care, keeping their staging area in the garage tidy and cleaning up after themselves so thoroughly that the only evidence of their presence was the beautiful repairs they left behind. Thank you Sasha and Vasili for the incredible job you did in our home, the perfection and detail you put into the crazy long hours you spent repairing our home barely taking a break. Thank you Fady for being so kind, patient and reassuring to me and my family and last but not least to Paul. The honesty in our communication, talking to me, reaching out beyond working hours to make sure everything was going okay, I can't describe what a pleasure it was working with you. I certainly hope we don't have to deal with another disaster again but I am so thankful this led me to experiencing such a morally strong, honest, ethical contracting company like yours that did a beyond phenomenal job. It hurt to even give these guys one star. Samuel (owner) will talk the talk. He sounded so…read moreconfident and professional when we spoke to him for the quote. We were impressed and wanted to give him a shot at our whole house, interior paint job. He promised us he could get it done before we moved in (about a week) and that anything we didn't like, he would make sure it was to our liking before leaving. He started by buying the cheapest paint Sherwin Williams offers. It was ProMar 200 - commercial grade paint. After the first day, they asked us what time we wanted them there the next day and we said, 8am. They responded, "Well we live a half hour away." First guy showed up the next day at 9:20. They showed up late other times too. None of them seemed like very experienced painters. Applied tape poorly, so that when it was taken off, lines were not clean at all. Kitchen ceiling had multiple missed areas, making it look worse than before they "painted" it. They had told us they would put up drywall over the wall in a half bath because previous owner had painted over wallpaper, and couldn't be removed without pulling off chunks of drywall. Then in the middle of the job, they decided to just "patch" the areas where wallpaper was peeling. See picture below to see how that turned out. The worst was one night, Samuel left the youngest guy to finish the kitchen area. The kid decided to speed things up and used a sprayer on our drywall. We were left with overspray on ceilings, walls, and kitchen cabinets. We were very upset and called Samuel who promised to show up on Memorial Day weekend to make it right. Said he would bring in a crew of 4 from another job. He showed up with one guy, didn't have the materials to fix the overspray on the cabinets. When we got to the house 5 minutes late (we still weren't moved in yet), he was angry that we were late. When we pointed out that it was only a few minutes and his guys had been late repeatedly, he denied it and said they were leaving because we "disrespected them". Couldn't believe it. They left our house damaged, didn't clean up their messes, and just left. They disrespected our time and property throughout the project, and because we called them out for doing such poor work and being late repeatedly, they were "disrespected." We figured they knew they were in over their heads with all the damage, so they needed a way out. No crew of 4 showed up to "make things right." Seems like they had no intention of bringing anyone in. Just needed an excuse to quit in the middle of the poorly done job. We obviously didn't pay them the balance, but they took us for WAY too much money anyway considering the unfinished work, horrible quality of work that was done, and unprofessional time management. They even took all the cheap paint with them so we couldn't even make corrections ourselves. Ended up getting an amazing guy to help us out and he did great work cleaning up their messes and applying high quality paint. If you are considering using this company for a project, RUN AWAY FAST!!

They put in a new 1/2 bath with a macerating toilet (an innovative solution in my situation!) replaced drywall in other areas and patched them seamlessly. Then they painted everything and gave me a good recommendation for flooring. Dan's quote came in at less than 1/2 of another bid I got for the job and he was very proactive in informing me of any unexpected cost increases. He and his team were professional, trustworthy, communicative and I'm so happy they completed this project for me!

He installed a new shower pan, shower walls, faucet, then shower doors. He never seemed rushed, but continued working. He demonstrated phenomenal workmanship and superior work ethics. He did everything promised and sought our approval throughout the entire project. He was respectful, pleasant and knowledgeable. He ended each day with cleaning up.
