Several years after purchasing kitchen appliances from Plugs in Mt Pleasant, we accidently broke a part in our refrigerator. I went back to the store asking for help in finding the part, and our salesman, Charles Dean, helped me obtain the part and even showed me that it wasn't as difficult to install it as I had anticipated. The last place I expected to find myself on a Thursday morning was at Plugs Appliances. You see, our freezer/refrigerator, after 11 wonderful years, died a painful death (taking a fully stocked unit down with it). In the past, we've gone to Lowe's but the appliance repair guy who pulled the plug (pun intended) convinced us to check out this appliance retailer as they stand behind their installations, as well as offering competitive pricing. It's part of the same strip that houses Sesame Burgers and several other small retailers. We were warmly greeted and though the gentleman we were told to ask for was running late, Chip suggested that we look around and that he would answer our questions. The showroom was not large, but, the refrigerator selection appeared to be adequate. Our decision was quick in that a 33", 25 cubic foot fridge, was now considered a special order. We had no time to spare. Chip was able to schedule delivery the next day on a GE with French doors and bottom load freezer the next day. Sold! We received a delivery confirmation that evening and a text message the next morning with a delivery window. Installation was a breeze. Plugs employs their own installers. By noon the next day, I was happily on my way, re-stocking my new fridge and freezer. I was always a big-box shopper but now I'm sold on 'the little guy.' You will be, too. While the selection of appliances is pretty good, the sales and follow up is not great. Purchased a dryer in May, it's already dead and Plugs has ZERO customer support or assistance in getting it repaired or replaced. They simply send you to the manufacturer. I purchased a washer and dryer from PLUGS, and I couldn't be more pleased. I had a vague idea of what I wanted; and Jay, the salesman, was perfect: helpful and knowledgeable, and no hovering! They've done a great job seeing through the service after the sale. I had a problem with my need refrigerator -Frigidaire in fact. Frigidaire was simply failing on all fronts with attempted repairs. So much wasted time so many supervisors various repair people -after about six over almost six months, my sales person Gene Wallace made sure that I had a brand new refrigerator before a big family holiday party this past Sunday. Not a great experience overall not to mention I still need a refrigerator. Before I start the review I will say that the sales staff did a great job selling me the appliance and were very sympathetic when they botched the entire sale delivery. Here is how my experience went. The sales part went very well the staff knew their product and we were able to purchase our appliance. The sales person gave us an honest time period for arrival and delivery. We waited for the refrigerator of our dreams - not really, but it is a nice refrigerator. Here where it goes south. On delivery day no one showed up. They said they called and no one answered. I explained that my wife was at work and I was home waiting for delivery'. They said know one was home and they tried to call. I explained that they never showed up at the house - later confirmed by my cameras - they said but they called. Well you can see where this is going. With all of that said the lady at dispatch was very very kind and acknowledged my frustration. We agreed to a delivery the next day. Now the fun part. The coordination with the delivery team - initiated by me was average mostly because I initiated the calls to ensure they didn't jack it up again. The truck arrived with three very professional people. They opened the door and the first thing I noticed was the box that was torn and dented. The next thing I notice d was the the hydraulic lift was broken. Now the big reveal - i couldn't wait for cube of cocktail ice. Alas, with the cardboard removed - I see a dented appliance. No cocktail ice for me. Like I said the staff could not have been better, but something is clearly broken here. The sales person specifically said there is one refrigerator of this make and model on the east coast and if it is not damaged we can deliver it in 10 days. I thought that was reasonable. What he didn't say is we will determine whether it is damaged or not while sitting in your driveway a day after we agree to deliver it. Epic fail my friends. I know this sounds harsh and I really appreciate everyone being so kind and helpful while telling me there is nothing we can do. Some would say you don't handle disappointment well. Joe would say - "come on mannn" I would say at least I got to clean the dust from under the old refrigerator before they put it back. read more

Earlier this month, we started searching for Bosch dishwashers. When we moved to a new home four years ago, the builder put in another brand of appliances and we finally came to the conclusion we're just "Bosch" peeps. Here's what you need to know about Plugs ... First, Plugs offers an online site for searching and purchasing product and the chat people were incredibly responsive. I could have made the purchase online. However, there are no dishwashers to be had anywhere in the exact model I was after, so I needed to see if I could live with a "pocket handle" versus an actual pull handle. The pocket version is exactly the same in terms of function, but every other appliance I have has a pull handle, so I was concerned with aesthetics. The store had what I needed to see on display. We were in and out with our purchase made and delivery scheduled in under 15 minutes. Store support personnel were great. The delivery was seamless. I received a call/text with the time window the day before. The delivery guys were fantastic--on time, personable, and professional. Finally, like others, I started my hunt at the usual sites. When this was not fruitful, I told my husband, "let me try something" and started searching the Plugs site. "What's Plugs?" he asked--he'd never heard of the store. Worst customer service ever!! For something as expensive as appliances they should do better. Good luck if you try to actually schedule a delivery. I'm just extremely frustrated and upset that a company can still have sales people if it would be easier and more efficient to just order from Amazon. At least they (Amazon)communicate. We had used Plugs a few years ago and were completely satisfied. However we wanted to purchase a refrigerator and shopped around for prices. Although Plugs claims to match big box prices they wanted to charge $129 for "delivery " . They would leave the refrigerator in the box in the garage but if we wanted them to unbox, level and plug it in, the fee of $129 was required. They would not negotiate. And that did not include takeaway charge! So in reality, they were charging $100 more than Lowe's . We purchased from Costco since for $50 we also had full setup, takeaway and a two year extended warranty. read more

The only thing that prevents a 5 star review was how long it took to obtain and have it installed. With that said, we knew how long it would take and covid was the cause for the delay. UPDATE! After getting home with the unit and getting it set up, it flooded our entire laundry room. They gave us a hard time about getting it swapped out - wanted us to bring it back to them and pick up another. No thanks, we already did that once and received a defective unit. After going back and forth, they finally agreed to deliver and swap for us, but we'd have to wait an additional two days, okay fine. Well here it is, delivery day and no show, call them and they claim they tried calling and didn't get an answer so they're unable to do anything until Monday. Mind you we have no calls and cancelled all plans to sit around and wait on them today, tell them that, and now they say they had the number written down wrong. HORRIBLE customer service. They were great when trying to get the sale, but it's been a horrible experience since. After spending all day trying to find somewhere to purchase a new washer, Plugs was the only place with one in stock, ready to pick up. Jared was beyond helpful and knowledgeable about the products. I've found the best way to buy appliances in the Daniel Island/Mt Pleasant area is to research what you want and order the appliances on-line. Home Depot, Lowe's and this place.......a frustrating combination of laziness and cluelessness. Approached an older man sitting down doing paper work. Said hello and could you please help us . I'll be with you in a minute was his reply and he kept working on his paper work. We waited about 15 mins and left . I feel he should have left the paper work and helped us. We left and went to Wholesale Appliance instead . I purchased a dishwasher from Plugs several weeks ago. This has been one of the worst experiences ever buying an appliance. So far they have been to the house six times related to installation. The first 4 times were because they kept turning off the hot water so we couldn't even do dishes in the sink. When they finally installed one of the braces broke that holds the dishwasher in place. That was a week ago and I haven't heard from them since. Our sales person Tony said he was working on some compensation for us but haven't heard from him since regarding that or to see how he could help. Find any other place to buy appliances. Buyer Beware! The absolute Worst Customer Service I have ever Experienced. Yes it's hard to believe worse than the Big Box Stores? We were in the Market for new appliances and wanted to support our Local Businesses and placed an order at Pluggs on October 20, 2020. We were told by the salesman that he contacted the local manufacturer rep and our shipment date would be November 15, 2020 and Delivery and installation the week of December 2, 2020. Once we made the purchase the Salesman stopped communicating. We have now been told Shipment won't be until after December 30th and delivery and installation sometime next year? We had to beg and go out of our way to stop by the Store for an update. The salesman said they had too many customers to provide individual status? Having seen their constant commercials about buying local, instead of buying from Lowe's in the past, I stopped in a few days ago and dealt with Tony, explaining that we are looking to start a local relationship as we are in the residential real estate business and buy appliances for our units a few times a year. I explained that my need for a dishwasher was urgent and that I'd have correct dimensions within a day of when we met. When I stopped in again yesterday to finalize this he was with another customer and said he'd be back with me that day. No call yesterday and no call today. Very poor follow up. I purchased a new home from Crescent Homes. The refrigerator was not making ice from the first day I moved in. After going through whirlpool warranty center and 4 trips from carolina appliance repairs (2 months time), my refrigerator was still not making ice. I called Plugs appliance center who originally supplied the refrigerator, Kate in the warehouse was quick to request whirlpool replace the refrigerator and had it delivered in two days.
