Really bad unfriendly service. I came to this store this evening to buy some merch. I was immediately asked if I had an ID. No hello or anything from the guy at the register. I said I was there to buy poppers and he immediately began to lecture me that "those are illegal.". I replied to him, "you know what I mean.". He then became argumentative and suggested that I just leave. When I asked for his name, his said his name was Sparky. He's a short, skinny white guy, had his hair dyed purple. I asked for the managers name or a business card and he said "they're right there, but we're out.". Just from entering the store the look that he gave was less than welcoming and how he immediately demanded my ID showed he didn't care for me being there. My gut feeling was that this was an issue because of my ethnicity and/or my age. So I asked him if that was the issue to which he stumbled over his words to defend. Going to the adult book store is not a big deal. But it's infuriating when the service is so bad and their are undertones of bigotry. They used to have friendly staff there. No one in the theater or arcade. The theater is just two hard back benches. Not a lounge theater by any means. Not excited about the set up. $11 to get in. There are 2 sets of smaller booths with gloryholes big enough to let your balls hang through and then a bigger booth that can fit multiple people in. read more

Pleasures serves its purpose as a South Broadway porn mainstay. It has some good things and some bad things. For me, I have experienced way better and would make a lot of changes but I give three stars since it has a mainstream appeal for men. Things I liked: It is clean inside and does not feel skeezy. They also have a large selection of porn films and mags. If you have a VHS, they sell old VHS films for $3.99 each. They also have some low priced porn which is a plus, most of it is not $40 each like some other places. There are some good toys in the toy section, but they are surrounded by terrible and unhealthy toys so watch out. I also like that there is a full wall of gay porn and a bi-porn section. Things I dislike: ORGANIZATION!!! There are vast amounts of porn in this world, having it organized into generas and by production companies is super important. What if I am really into this really hot guy from Falcon Studios? There is no way to find him without digging through tons of films and not even knowing if it will be there. The same thing goes for straight production companies, if I want Pink Visuals or Vivid, I want to be able to find it easily. I also want more break out by generes, both in straight and gay porn. If I am looking for military porn of barely legal porn, I want a sign so i can find it without having to go through the stacks of granny porn. Another dislike: I want some good porn that is not the mass produced crap that is out there. There is a huge market for women made and independent porn that is not represented here well. I could also go for some real queer porn. The lesbian porn section here is made for men not lesbians. I could also do with trans porn and girls fucking guys porn, but alas, no dice. Last dislike: The toy selection. Phthalates are bad for you, they are toxic chemicals that are used in sex toy production to harden plastics. These chemicals are banned in most products but not in sex toys because they are deemed "novelty items." If you have a toy with phthalates (any gel toy or non medical grade silicon) use a condom always and upgrade as soon as possible. Unfortunately, shopping at Pleasures, if you are not well informed there is no way to know. If you are not a super informed shopper and do not want a cheep novelty item go down the street to Smitten Kitten. They have staff the are super informed and will help you. All of their toys are body safe as well. Overall, if you are a straight guy looking for mass produced porn (and there is no shame in that, you go brother) this is a great place. If you are looking for safe toys and a diverse porn selection that is well made and erotic, there are some better equipped places near by that focus on pleasure. read more

As me and my partner proceeded to look around, one of the employees approached me asked me to put my book bag behind the counter. I was extremely offended that this person thinks I would steal from their hole-in-wall establishment. I declined to let them have my bag because if they can't trust me to not steal, why would I trust them to not take things from me?
