After expressing my disappointment that the email never arrived to my inbox (or a number of parents' apparently), they were unapologetic and just said I "couldn't do preschool wrong." And so we showed up 5 minutes early on the first day (expecting instruction to begin at 8:30 and dropoff to be taking place then...but the parking lot was empty). I felt stupid ringing the doorbell, having seen teachers already enter the door, and having no one respond. I was new and this surely didn't sit well. Perhaps we were early, but considering I missed the open house to an internal error, perhaps explaining the rules 5 minutes early on day 1 would've been more inviting to a brand new family. Perhaps I could "do preschool wrong" after all. This was my son's third preschool. I have a lot of experience in school settings. He went to a fabulous 2yo program in IL, then paid public preschool and since we moved here recently and all the programs were about full, we had few options. I went on a whim and signed up here. Maybe it's a local culture thing (coming from CA and IL), but I'm an elementary school teacher myself and the structure and schedule were much too lax. Drop-off was "anytime between 8:30 and 9:30" and "we start instruction sometime between 9:30 and 10", which meant the first hour + was glorified daycare. Some days he would be the only student there for the first half hour! I didn't feel this program would adequately prepare my Pre-K student (who thrives on schedules and activities) for real Kindergarten and rigorous standards next year. I am definitely hyper vigilant (and maybe a little tiger mom) being a teacher myself, but with the laissez faire approach, it likely fit other families better than our family. I guess first impressions really do stick, because we just never quite got our groove after that first day and are now sending our son to another program that he is absolutely loving.

I have to say that it has been such an amazing experience. Miss Jamie, the director, is great and all of the teachers are wonderful. The preschool is clean, bright and cheerfully decorated with children's artwork. My daughter has grown so much in the short time that we have been there. Miss Fran, her teacher, is great with children and is still always doing fun activities, singing songs and coming up with creative ways to teach the kids. The preschool is located on Mount Rose highway and is very easy to get to if you live in the South Reno area.

Our son has been going to TKA for a couple of years now and it was the right choice for us. We're…read moreso glad that there's a school close to us that not only teaches kids academics but also teaches them moral lessons which I think is the most important. The staff here are great too. They do care about the kids and are very attentive to their emotional and academic needs. One thing that is amazing as well is that it's a small school so the staff knows pretty much all of the children. Ms. Angie and Mrs. Baeckel greet each kid by name and their families during drop offs and pick ups every single day- rain or shine. We really appreciate the extra care and attention because you know they're safe having two pairs of watchful eyes to see who comes in and out of the property. My son also is learning so well. His reading I think is advanced and they teach them how to write in cursive at a young age too. He's made lots of friends and even the parents know each other and are connected as well. I don't think you will get that in a big/public school. We are happy that we enrolled our child here. We will stay for a while.

The King's Academy is an absolute treasure! We are so incredibly thankful to be sending our son…read more(and in a couple of years our daughter as well) to this school! We did a lot of research before deciding where to begin kindergarten, and toured several schools, hoping to find one that stood out above the rest. The King's Academy is it. I can't imagine a better place for an excellent Christian education in the Reno/Sparks area. The staff are wonderful. The teachers are so amazing, experienced, loving, compassionate, and we really can feel how much they truly care for our son. He is having the most wonderful experience. I can honestly say that since my son began attending The King's Academy, he has come into his own genuine, authentic faith. He loves God, he knows God better, he asks so many great questions. Best of all, he tells me all the time now "I love you so much Mom, but I love God more." It is such a comforting feeling to have the utmost confidence in both the quality of the academics, as well as the spiritual environment of the school. We love the smaller class sizes and greater level of attention that the teachers are able to pay to each student, and therefore their enhanced ability to tailor the education to each child's unique needs. I attend chapel every week (parents and families are always welcome to join the students there) and absolutely love it! I love seeing the children having a great time and also receiving such quality, Christ-centered Biblical teaching. It's wonderful. There have been so many times that, unprompted, my son will ask me "Mom, can I please keep going to King's Academy all the way to 8th grade? I love it there!" What more could you want to hear from your child? We cannot recommend The King's Academy enough, it is one of the best decisions we've ever made for our children.

Mrs Chrissy is amazing with the children and is always responsive and available to meet or discuss anything. Our son has thrived in this school environment and we are excited that our daughter will also have the opportunity to go there in the fall.
