This new system is so difficult to figure out and I don't understand why Manogue found they needed to switch it. This is a small issue that over time I know all families will just need to learn to love the new system. However, not only has the school's tuition gone up, which causes more financial strain on families but they have started to charge for little things, most recently they have started to charge a $100 schedule change fee. This is absolutely absurd. This is a small request on behalf of a family already paying so much money to attend Manogue and they have the audacity to charge us $100 to try and change a class. I cannot believe that they have gotten to this point. Very disappointed and saddened by this.

There is high turn over with in the staff and the board has a problem with being transparent and upfront with the parents. The atmosphere of the student body is very clicky and heavy with favoritism which might be the reason for a bullying epidemic there. The cost to benefit just isn't there when you are literally getting the same education in the public school system. This school started out strong when it was first built but over the past 5 years it has really gone down hill while its tuition increased due to the population growth in the area.

The Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology, AACT, is an career technical education school within the Washoe County School District. It gives students an alternative opportunity to help them decide on various paths to secondary education. There are eight academies in the program- communications arts and media, culinary, teaching and training, engineering, fire science, high school of business, medical, and natural resources and animal sciences. In April, a team of sophomore culinary students won first place in the state competition in Las Vegas and presented a fund raiser to help get them to nationals. The winning team with the support of their fellow classmates and the hospitality class presented an incredible six course dinner in the cafe at the AACT campus. I have dined around the world at various levels of restaurant and street cuisine, these kids did a phenomenal job- in quality and execution of the plates, hospitality, and cooperation. What 10th grader have you met that knows how to prepare roasted figs, pomegranate molasses, and burrata mousse; beef tartare; French rack of lamb with couscous; branzino and bulgar; and blueberry limoncello tiramisu. Little lone know what they are ? I have the greatest respect for these students and their teacher/mentors, for these are our future chefs. And I expect to be well fed ! The school does have a cafe open to the public on Thursdays from noon to 1 pm at the AACT Restaurant, 380 Edison Way, Reno.

I am amazed at the AACT Restaurant! The food is always tasty, very reasonably priced and changes every week. The kids take turns creating the menu, doing the work to establish pricing, learn to work the kitchen, as well as opportunities to earn some money and experience as servers to the dining area. These young adults are always very professional, and polite. Great skills being learned here. I love that this is open to the public. I hope that more people hear about it and support the students and the program. The restaurant is only open select Thursdays, so be sure to visit their website to see the dates and make a reservation. The menu changes each time. They expected students to check in periodically but never answer phone calls. Practically it is your child alone working on trying to get assignments done that are never explained to them. The staff, when you actually speak to them, are rude, unprofessional, and uneducated. I am not sure where they find these teachers and principals but it's definitely not people that should be certified to teach or work with children. They are all thugs. They are also a scam of a school. The school does not count as education and therefore if your child is transferred somewhere else they will repeat the grade because this is not a legitimate institution. Do not send your kids here, it is a trick to make money off the government for your child. They do not care about your child's education. Do not make the mistake to set your child up for failure.

I told my teachers repeatedly over the seven years I went to school there and they did nothing. Because my mother was Hispanic and had a full time job, she was treated as a outcast by both parents and teachers. One student even asked me if my mom was our maid. While I don't regret the experience because it made me the strong, compassionate, and brave women that I am today I don't want anyone to go through that. Honestly its something that still effects me today and I can't drive by the school (let alone go inside) without coming to tears.
