Good school. This is the first year of attending this school. So far my kids are enjoying their teachers and the school.

The building at 305 Lincoln Street (on the west side of Route 89, across from the Post Office) is…read moreno longer being used as a school, but has been renamed the "Sierraville School Community Center." It is home to the Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District, Sierraville Recreation District activities, Sierra County Arts Council events, etc. This review concerns only the park to the west and south of the building. Although small at about one acre, the park features a tennis court and a basketball court, both of which have been newly resurfaced in blue and green (see photo). In addition, there is a playground, a covered picnic table, and a well-kept grassy area. The park is open to the public, and so is a perfect place to bring the family.

When I was a teenager, my friends & I would play baseball ("long town") or football on the yard out…read moreback. Even at night around the schoolhouse we would play hide & seek, maybe hold hands w/ our girlfriends, & occasionally get a kiss. During cold, rainy, or snowy weather I'd run over to the principals house; he would give me the key so my friends & I could play in the small gym. Boy, that was a different time. We loved the 8' basketball hoops set up for "biddy" basketball & we could "dunk" just like the pros. The Sierraville Schoolhouse is a beautiful old building that could tell lots of stories!
