Oh yes...another Airport and another PPL.
This isn't a full lounge per se. It's a glass walled off area overlooking the baggage carousel and exit to the airport. Many a times have I looked up into it from below as I waited for my luggage.
The size of the lounge is basically in accordance to the airport size itself. Makes sense. YWG is a small airport and AC Maple Leaf Lounge is tiny and PPL is even smaller.
This PPL is easy to find. Walk to the right from check-in through security. Pass the exit and baggage claim area and walk through the wood veneer archway. Meet a friendly reception person. Flip over your boarding pass and whatever gets you in. A priority pass, AMEX Platinum or equiv, or pure cash. Many of you know that I value the peaceful lounge before hectic flights and that there is value in such places, even if you have to dole out cash for it.
This small PPL has a tiny food buffet style area with standard stuff. Salads, soup/food, carbo-load (breads and sweets), and beverages (alcohol during serving hours).
There are small sit down table that you can do some work and munch - usually first to go. An almost enclosed workstation if you want to do some preflight work - no munching or drinking please. A bunch of lounge chairs to pass out if you would like.
The staff is quiet and efficient. Fills up the food section regularly and cleans up your mess quietly - almost ninja like as I swear I didn't even see them! One place that they are not efficient is the bar area. Many people have complained that the bartender disappears - which makes getting a drink impossible. Cost cutting measure I guess.
Does not fully measure up to the Maple Leaf Lounge but then again, MLL is usually packed at busy times and the prepared food is better at PPL. Some PPL have made to order food - not this one though, but I will be writing one up soon.
Closer to a 3 than a 4.
