My husband and I love this restaurant! We especially appreciate the clean surroundings, abundant servings and fast service. I always feel amazed at how quickly our meals arrive! The staff is extremely attentive and I enjoy practicing my Spanish with the waitress. We usually get the shrimp dishes, they are delicious. and the Special combo meals like Plaza Mexico platter are fabulous. You will take home left-overs, even though you want to eat every bite! Disclaimer: I'm a solo traveler and I arrived in the middle of the week. A large party on the weekend may not have the same excellent experience. With that said, Plaza Mexico is a great experience. The rice alone warrants a 5/5. This place is FRESH. I ordered the Chile Verde. The tomatillo based sauce is excellent. The pork is cooked just right, firm but not dry. They serve enough tortillas for the plate as well. The cocktail I ordered was on point. Not sweet but not overpowered by alcohol. Don't take my review lightly. My work has taken me to over 30 states and I've been to dozens of Mexican restaurants. Plaza Mexico has earned a top spot on my list. read more

Not very good! Salsa and chips were a disappointment. They also served a weird cabbage salsa which was awful. Beef nachos average at best. Chicken tortilla soup was okay. Wouldn't eat here again. Cannot recommend. read more

I love Plaza Mexico. I come here when ever I can. The food is amazing and the wait staff is very attentive and always very happy.. This time I had the carne asada and it was amazing. I was skeptical since it's an old building off of the main roads and there were only 2 cars in the parking lot. However, it's Good stuff. I think you can always judge a Mexican restaurant by the freshness and flavor of their pico de gallo and this place delivered. Asked server what his favorite chicken dish was and he recommended Pollo Loco. Good choice, I approve. It is very cheesy though. read more

Obviously while in Spencer thought we would head to a good mexican restaurant and well we were wrong. First off staff was super nice and friendly food came out very fast as well. But the food was ehhh at best. I didn't care for my chicken fajita at all the chicken was grisly and ick to much spices on it and the rice well there wasn't very much but it was ok. My husband liked his burrito he said it was filling but also wouldn't go back. Just not impressed at all. Will definitely be going somewhere else when we come down again. read more

Ok if you can't find anything else. Chorizo didn't have much flavor/spices. Everything pretty bland. Service was spotty, slow, and not very good. Family operated with young members of the family rolling around on the ground and climbing up the backs of booths containing guests. read more

We have become regular patrons and have now been here well over a dozen times. This has become our go to for our Mexican food fix. I think we could eat here daily and never tire of the food. We adore the uniqueness of their "cabbage salsa". The green salsa (VERY HOT!), the taco sauce in squeeze bottle (served by request), their cheese dip (ON EVERYTHING!) and their chips are always good. Chicken Enchiladas with egg on top (I suggest over medium) is excellent. I seem to be ordering the Chicken Chili Relleno with green sauce (instead of their red sauce) more and more. Chili Colorado (plate or burro) is very very good! Shredded Beef Chimichanga was very savory and oh so good! Tasty Guacamole. I too agree with another reviewer, I also have had the taquitos special with shredded beef, and (I agree) it couldn't have been better. This is consistently good food for the money, we have only had near perfect food and they serve stout cocktails!;) Family owned, their children are precious, with a wonderful and attentive staff. Sometimes slow to come with the check. We leave with our bellies stuffed and a smile on our face every time we dine here! Definitely worth a visit! read more

My wife and I had an excellent meal tonight. Great service. Chips and salsa served complimentary and were refilled. Both our meals were delicious. I had the taquitos special with shredded beef, and couldn't have been better. My wife had a chili relleno with a chimichanga, she really enjoyed it. And they were very nice and brought us a delicious dessert that really hit the spot and was a nice surprise. Service was great and we were both glad we chose to spend our night out here!! read more

I've had better experiences. The service was great, don't get me wrong. Nice job. There was a gentlemen out smoking who opened the door and welcomed me. The food- my allergies have kicked my rear today so I know my tastebuds are off. That said I ordered a very specific combo that included a chalupa. I wasn't able to eat the chalupa like a normal person as it was soaked (not set) in beans. I was really looking forward to the chalupa. Chile Rellano was ok, not great. Price- you can't beat it in Spenser. For what you receive, tell me to shut up. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I will say in all fairness I never ate the food, however the chips and salsa were a good indication that the food would be bad too. My wife and I are from Texas here for family issue but decided to try our luck. As we entered the restaurant it was not very busy but no one greated us. We were about to seat ourselves after waiting several minutes to even be acknowledged. Finally got seated and the glassware was filthy. They were about give us water in the glasses until I asked for new glasses at which point they gave us two more filthy glasses. About the same time chips and salsa ( I use the term loosely) were brought to our table. The chips were stall and the salsa was dressed up tomato paste from a can. The other bowl of something was all over the waiters hands so I did not try it at all. Horrible first impressions so we left. Our waitress was nice but slow. Chips and salsa tasted fresh. The gold margarita was refreshing. The amount of flies inside was a little disturbing. If your looking for authentic Mexican cuisine look elsewhere this is your typical Midwestern Americanized Mexican food I have never had a tamale with cheese on it until today. read more
