I often look for a place that incorporates "fun for kids" and "relaxation for parents." In this case, "Playroom Cafe" fits the bill. Well, there is one disclaimer. Parents would not be completely relaxed because supervision is required for our energetic kids, but that is just the name of the game. We have been their Mount Prospect location, but the Hoffman Estates one operates a little differently: store-logo grip socks are required to purchase for children ($1.99/pair, as of 06/13/2026). Adults are required to wear socks and adult-size socks are available for purchase if you need a pair. Otherwise, things are business as usual. My partner and I bought our two boys and got the siblings discount (regular admission: $19.99, sibling discount: $17.99, as of 06/13/2026). First of all, before I wanted to mention how much fun our munchkins had, the iced cold brew hit the spot! That was exactly what I needed. Then it was time to order some food, their cheesy and prosciutto/arugula Flatbread were the carbs I needed to overcome the buzz of iced cold brew. Our kids and my partner devoured these quickly and efficiently as well. We were there for solid three hours or so and our kids play every station, from mini rock climbing to musical/metal/transparent slides. They briefly mingled in the baby area and realized that that space was reserved for toddlar under 36 months. With that said, my young could have stayed yet he wanted to chase his bro...lol. The environment was clean. There was a birthday party going on but I didn't bother us the unrelated patrons at all. Unfortunately, driving to Hoffman Estates was a quest and the gas price hasn't been that friendly for a casual mini road trip like this. With that said, we will make it here when we can because we genuinely enjoyed our experience here. read more

This place is great, except the hefty price tag! We end up spending upwards of $100 each time for 2 adults and two children when you think of the price of the food and the entrance fee. Yikes! Parking is readily available and smaller children do have fun, it's a super cute place and the staff and service are great, but not sure it justifies the price tag! read more

We took my 2 year old son here back to back days and he played for 2hrs each day. He loved it! The place is clean, the coffee is good and it's nice and spread out. The service is good, not much to say they kind of stick to themselves which is not awful, we didn't need anything so it was fine. I wish they had memberships but I believe they have punch cards so I will look into that. By far the best play cafe for our little guy! read more

I believe this place just opened up! I have been to both the Naperville and Glen Ellyn locations. This one is obviously much bigger, and it is suited for kids ages 0-10. They market for up to 12, but I've seen the larger play set area and I'm not sure kids older than 10 could fit or enjoy themselves. Your gymnast, or tumbling children would love it. It's crazy, it has everything! It's like a kids empire if you have ever been there. They have many slides and one of them to the far right is so cute you go up and you come down and the slide is a piano set. There's a bounce area, few slides, it has a huge seating area. It is literally an indoor play cafe, they serve Belgium waffles ($16), and smoothies, full service coffee bar like the others. They do serve Nutella as a side note and full kids meals. The other two locations serve snacks, and baked goods this was like a little restaurant. Much, much more climbing space and activities too. I WOULD AVOID OPENING WEEKEND!!!! It is insane and crazy packed. The line wasn't out the door, but I went today and people had to come back, it was a little unorganized. Our experience at Playroom Cafe was incredible! Maggie & her team are amazing. Maggie designed and orchestrated my theme to perfection, even above and beyond my expectations. Sophia was our party lead, she accommodated each of our request. The food selection goes beyond just your regular menu. Our guest felt taken care of, the kiddos had the best time. My daughter is 10 and had a great time. You have to purchase / wear there socks for $1.99. I purchased a large latte in the cafe and it asked me to tip... the percentage was applied to everything. I only wanted to tip $2.00 so that was disappointing to see over a $5 tip. Will remember for next time. This place is for kids up to the age of 12 or 58" tall but they don't have a way to measure height. They have mini trampolines, a train table, lots of places to climb and fun activities on the walls. We went there for first time to take pictures with Santa they had special event and we were so surprised. The place is just out of this world. So nice so clean and organised. Love the menu and the many options they have and people were very friendly and kind . Our kids play for hours there and were very happy and satisfied. The hot new spot that's been popping up all over Instagram, and their advertising definitely worked. We came at 10am on a Sunday for a birthday party and before we knew it the place was already packed. It's got a very IG aesthetic too. It's very clean, with greenery everywhere. It's also ironically a bit disorganized. So you walk in this narrow pathway where employees are there to check your waivers. Then in that same narrow pathway you have to take off your shoes, then we were directed to the cafe register to pay. That's when I was told that even though my kid had grippy socks, we still had to pay to use their grippy socks. That annoyed me pretty quickly. But then when he asked me to pay admission, I said I was with the party and he told me to check in with someone on the side who was handling the party. As part of the party we got socks, but it just seemed really crowded, hectic, and confusing. The play area itself is pretty varied with lots of different activities, but they had this one wall that consists of air pumps and ramps and lots of little balls you move through it. It was broken though, and balls were flying everywhere, and no one bothered to come by and fix it the whole three hours or so we were there. I also saw an employee try to kick out a six year old from the 0-3 year old area. It just seems on some things they're strict on rules while neglecting other things. The bathrooms were clean and the coffee I got was decent. For the birthday party they order from Garibaldi's next door, and the pizza was good though the slices were almost too big for little kids. At the end of the day, my little one had a ton of fun so I could see us coming back, but there are definite improvements that can be made as well. Just beware that it gets very crowded with the hype and cold weather around. And also, stop the sock discrimination! read more

My kids love this place! We can spend the entire day here, especially on a cold or rainy day when they need to get their energy out. It's kept very clean. They offer good sandwiches for adults, kids meals are decent too. Downside, it's kind of expensive for entry and snacks. (Which is why I face 4 instead of 5 stars). You can easily spend $75-100 for one adult and two kids for the day with entry and food/snacks, so we don't go too often, but it's nice to go on occasion. read more

And they don't let you bring in your own snacks for your kids. Places like Ball Factory and Kids Empire are a much better deal for your dollars. Very upsetting experience. My son was scratched badly on his face by another child while playing. There was no proper supervision, and the situation was not handled appropriately. The music was so loud that it was impossible to hear the children, including when someone was crying. This raises serious safety concerns. A playground should be a safe space for kids. Hello everyone, I think this is a nice place and is clean , you feel welcome and it has plenty of parking. In my opinion this place is good for kids from 1 year to 5 years old , main reasons the little ones can't use the bikes bikes because the older ones ( 8,9, 10 yeas old) think they own them , dangerous for the little ones around since the parents take their computers to do work the pones to check Facebook and other social media, and let them run and do whatever they want with no supervision, perfect example the bigs kids don't care to get out of the play ground and run over adults toes and hit little ones with the bikes. I hope you care for this review and pay attention and supervise your children, before some else tell your kids to behave and to got around the marked lines for the bikes. This place is very clean and nice for kids! I would give that 5 Stars! But unfortunately, the drink menu needs an upgrade. So far I ordered four drinks from them every time I come I try one and every time I end up, throwing it away from Frappuccino to the cookie drink to just regular ice macchiato. I don't know if it's the syrup they use or the coffee they use. Even the people that attends with me they have tried the drinks and they say it's disgusting . Employee was discriminating against me and child. I let the employees know when I walked in that i was diabetic with a diabetic child and had a few snacks with me for those medical purposes. She said OK ill let the lender know. Then at 1220 another employee can and was incredibly rude saying I couldn't have a snack. I explained the medical necessity she continued and told me if I need a snack I could go outside for one. I again explained diabetics need snacks and getting 3 kids together and going outside in the child several times is not practical and per law she could not discriminate someone with a disability. My family and I visited this weekend!! We loved everyyyyyy thoughtful element except for 2 things: 1.) some of the tables have pointed edges and my toddler unfortunately walked into one of the sharp pointed edges of the table and it created a gash in his face. Luckily he was walking and not running and I had my first aid kit with me, so he will be fine once it heals. 2.) the cookie jar near the register sits at the very edge of the counter and can very easily be bumped over or opened by a curious toddler. I did share my thoughts with someone named Yannely. She wasn't very nice about it was also wasn't rude. Maybe she just didn't want to be "blamed" but I shared my feedback constructively as a paying customer hoping to be heard and taken seriously. Anywho, five stars! Our girls, 1 & 2 1/2 loved it here! (Hoffman location) Very clean & cute. Big space to run around. Everything is padded, even the "wood" floor! Lots for them to do even at young ages. We got there right when it opened on a weekday so it was empty but it did start to fill up as we were eating. It did take a bit longer to get our food than expected which may have just been amplified due to our girls getting hungry. The staff were all very nice. I never expected to witness a child be quietly excluded simply because she has a disability. When we arrived, I clearly explained to staff that the little girl I was accompanying has a disability and requires her own food. I was told that if she needed to eat, she would have to step outside (in 15° weather) because outside food wasn't allowed indoors. Being told that a child should eat outside in freezing temperatures because of her disability was shocking and deeply upsetting. After I spoke up, we were allowed to stay inside, but only in a back corner of the facility, away from the other children. I didn't push further because at least she was warm. The little girl I was with does not communicate verbally, but she is very aware of her surroundings. She could see other children sitting comfortably together in the front seating area and became visibly distressed and frustrated. Watching her sit isolated and confused, without any understanding of why she was being separated, was heartbreaking. Later, when a holiday party arrived, management suddenly asked us to move to the very seating area we had previously been told we could not use. Only when it became convenient for the business was she suddenly allowed to sit where the other children had been all along. When I raised concerns with the manager, I was told that the health inspector does not allow outside food. While businesses may have internal policies, disability protections are enforced under FEDERAL LAW and override general food policies. Staff and management should absolutely be educated on this to prevent discriminatory situations like this from happening. What will stay with me is watching the little girl I was with be isolated not because of behavior, but because she has a disability. No child should EVER be made to feel like they don't belong. As we were leaving, I could overhear the acting manager speaking to others about both me and the little girl I was accompanying, which only added to how upsetting the experience was. This should be a place where all children feel welcome. Instead, we left feeling heartbroken. I sincerely hope ownership takes this seriously and ensures proper training. No apology or acknowledgment was offered at any point. We will not be returning. read more

It's a nice place overall and appears clean but the employees could use more training. They don't really connect with customers and just see them as dollar signs. It's not as big as the pictures appear which is fine but the two highlights were the Guatemalan cook and the tall guy behind the counter who was actually friendly. The two girls at the front with the crocs were not helpful but were quick to run when a bigger kid was in the 0-36 area. They need to bring that energy all around. My kids had a fun time here. I just didn't like how packed it was. There was not enough seats for all the adults. Most were standing. I think their capacity needs to be less. It is way too crowded and unfortunately not everyone was watching their kids here so maybe a rule about that. I ordered a smoothie and tea and it was delicious. My grandson's first birthday party was at Playroom Cafe Social in Hoffman Estates yesterday, and I can't say enough good things about our experience there. From the moment we walked in with so many things to get set up, their staff members greeted us and asked what they could help with. Their assistance was over and beyond as they literally unpacked our supplies and helped us set up everything. This excellent service continued throughout the entire party and they even helped us pack up after the party. Besides the great service, the place itself was so impressive. With its upscale decor, The Playroom Cafe Social was the most high class kid's place I have ever been in. The place was immaculate with a wide variety of fun apparatus for the kids to jump on, climb up, slide down, and ride on for different age groups. The food was great too. I would highly recommend paying a visit to Playroom Cafe Social and/or having a birthday party there. Your kids will love it, and you will too! read more
