Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The new location within the Bell Works Chicagoland campus is a thing of beauty. The design aesthetic is what you would expect from a high end brand like GNO and the best part is that they make it feel inviting and like home. Just like at home, we kicked off the evening in the kitchen area greeting friends and ordering drinks. I really liked that we had the option to cater food through a GNO catering partner or coordinate a pot luck amongst our friends. The hosts were amazing and it was an honor to have the man, the myth, the legend Alex live and in person with us! I am not the type to break out a board game for fun, but my friends and I agreed that GNO is on a different level and has a game to meet the knowledge, interest and physical ability of every player. 2 hours of fun, games and laughs flew by and each of our friends who attended for the first time were raving about their evening and how they were planning to tell their friends, family, and employers about GNO. It is obvious that the owners (Brandon & Aaron) have dedicated their time and talent to curating a unique experience that brings families and friends together. We ended up being only 5 minutes late, but Chef Titik was so welcoming. The only thing should have been a disclosure about having pets and potential allergies. She made us a welcome drink which was very tasty. She told us a little about herself and experience as a chef. We learned so much inclusive of knife sharpening techniques to how to properly cut fruits and vegetables, putting together seasoning, tips and tricks, and some facts about food. She even took photos of us and shared them. She made us feel like family at home having us over for dinner helping cook. It was such a memorable experience and so unique and perfect for my team. We all love food and travel so this is definitely one for the books. We all had a blast and would highly recommend.

From Fox Valley Mall into Mish Mash, this place is awesome. The art, digital lighting, signage, and aesthetics are so cool. They did an incredible job with designing it. Mish Mash feels like a liminal space sometimes. I have to dock 3 stars for the complexity of the games, the speed of the games, and the setup of the games. 1 Star Docked for the Setup. The rooms each have a card scanner with a code you enter. That's easy enough. But some rooms require you to push buttons to select teams. Each room handles this differently. It was confusing. Stuff like this needs to be decided outside the room. By the time you go inside the room, you should be playing the game. I don't want to spend an additional 1-3 minutes learning how the setup works. 1 Star Docked for the Complexity of the Games. This makes me sad because the rooms look amazing. The soccer game's fence is too low, so balls ricochet easily. The ropes rooms are too intense for bigger adults, and quite frankly, a liability. The sewer room is a cool concept but way too difficult to climb for adults. The cathedral room we solved, but the game penalized us for not pushing the buttons at the end. We didn't know and the staff didn't give us the points. The biblioteca and crime wall room's tablets froze and we couldn't finish the games. The room with the white cables and colors doesn't give you enough instructions. In fact, please don't give us riddles. Just tell us what to do. I don't want to be even more confused than I already am. Please just forgo the riddles entirely. 1 Star Docked for the Speed of the games. From entering a room to start, the games take forever. 3 minute countdown becomes a 10 second countdown, which then becomes a 10-15 second riddle, which then becomes the room turning on. It's a lot of time docked for just waiting. I was getting impatient. New rooms made me nervous. I'm sad. This place looked so cool. The rooms are beautiful, but disappointing. If I could change mish mash, I would instead do a museum style approach, where the tablets are removed, the magnet doors are removed. And players are instead given an app or a tablet, and each room can be freely entered and played with. And maybe have players solve a mystery and learn to communicate with each other and perhaps with others. And maybe each room has a sort of solution or goal that works towards a greater goal? Or doing a set number of instructions will flash a code that can be used in a phone or tablet to open up more clues or something. That way the whole exiting and re-entering can be alleviated. Either that or take a road trip to activate games down the street and create games that are a little simpler in design. Mish Mash is a good concept but it needs more time to cook. Thank you for the experience, but until they fix things, I wouldn't recommend coming back.

I don't know a lot of people that have done this first hand, but now that I've tried it, I see the appeal of it being a sport that I enjoy watching and participating in. There are three lanes to play on, and the staff are friendly ambassadors of the sport. If you've never played, you are made to watch a short instructional video. You'll also need to sign a waiver before participating. There's a learning curve to curling, but once you're on the ice, it's fun. The instructors do a great job of teaching you the lingo, the skills, and get you started with relative ease. For those that are not as flexible or have knee issues, they have sticks to help push the rocks. Everything is provided by the club to play so just bring some comfortable clothes and a light jacket. I don't know of any other curling places so scratch that itch and see what it's all about!

He has been cooking professionally since the 1970s, and now he owns the Lake Geneva School of Cooking, and teaches hands-on classes for groups and corporate events. I visited with a group of nine people, and we all had a great time. Chef John and his assistants greeted us with a mimosa, and then explained what we'd be doing: help to create a three-course lunch for everyone. Our lunch consisted of a mushroom soup, a beet salad and a baked cinnamon apple topped with ice cream for dessert. Chef John is very much a believer in cooking with the seasons, so the menu will change depending on when you visit. He gets a lot of his produce from the local Lake Geneva farmers market, and other food items from local merchants. Our group split up and tackled one aspect of the meal. I was with the mushroom soup group, and for the most part, the soup was prepared, we just had to put the finishing touches on it and make some cheese croutons to go on top. I would have loved to do a little more of the prep work and cooking, to be honest. But not everyone in my group was as comfortable with cooking as I was. That's the thing with these classes, though: Whether you have a lot of experience with cooking or a little, the classes are informative and approachable, and focus on fun and food. The kitchen that we worked in was well equipped and clean, with lots of room to move around. The kitchen assistants were college kids who were culinary students, which was cool. After we prepared our meal, we all sat down and enjoyed it in the big dining room. Each course was paired with wine. And the best part: The food was delicious! Yay, us! And yay for Chef John, who conducted a wonderful class that ended with a fabulous meal.

But the staff in the front/lobby area were super helpful to direct us to the right place. There is a lot for a child to explore inside and perfect for ages 3-7, I'd say. Some of the slides are VERY FAST. So be aware of that if you have really little ones climbing up. The graphics of the waterfall and lazy river is a cute touch! And the party vestibule in the same area is so handy. It's a perfect venue for a kids birthday party. I am so glad our friends invited us! There is ample parking and the bathrooms are very clean.
