This place is just great. It's a little home play away from home. I've been coming here when I can since they have opened. The outside space is great for my school age kid & everywhere else is great for my toddlers. I recently celebrated my youngest 1st birthday party and wow was I impressed with the level of help they provided the day of. I also appreciate how easy they made the process to book. The online party planning tool was spot on and loved being able to just show up since most things I rented directly from them! And above all the staff are genuinely kind people. read more

I had my son's birthday party here recently. Planning was so easy and the kids and other parents had a blast. Playlab is a great venue for so many reasons. First, the space is great for kids 7 and under. There are both indoor and outdoor play spaces to allow kids the freedom to explore and all within a gated space so the crowd is contained and secure. Second, they offered add-ons like balloons/decorations or coffee, so you can minimize the stress of planning. Third, it's affordably priced. Fourth, they include a staff member with the booking to help you set up and clean up, and to support you throughout the party. Fifth, you can set up the place as you see fit and they are incredibly flexible. I highly recommend! read more

This place is really tiny. It's $12 for daily admission and it's hard to find parking in the area- they have 3 designated spots that are usually taken (prob bc that's the max amount of families that should be here at once). It's basically an old house. When you walk in to the left in the "dining room area" is a big table with a train track- my 18 mo old has zero interest in that so half the place is already not applicable to us. There is a tiny slide set to climb up that takes up the whole 2nd room. The 3rd room is stuffed to the brim with Nuggets- but the problem is that there are so many there isn't really enough room to spread them out and build anything with them- also, they smell :-/ no windows on the inside so as if it doesn't feel claustrophobic enough this makes it worse. If there are more than 4 kids in the whole place then it feels crammed- and gets loud. They do have a small outdoor area with a sand pit but you can find something better at the park. My toddler loves PlayLab! They came through for us in a big way when we had to change venues for her birthday party at the last minute. Everything was so easy and they are very experienced in parties. All of the staff I interacted with were patient, kind and incredibly accommodating. Here's my overdue review regarding the party hosting experience. Spoiler alert: amazing all around (honestly just do yourself a favor and book your party here asap!) Let me start by saying I'm not one who loves hosting...let alone a big party The process seemed especially daunting with my kids' bdays 2 weeks apart. But Playlab made the process so easy planning my 1 year old's party. I went back and forth hosting one but have zero regrets doing it especially with how wonderful it played out start to finish. Guests also commented on what a perfect venue it was + how nice the staff treated everyone. - Space: the venue alone has enough activities to keep kids engaged both indoors and outdoors. They also offer to connect you with unique hired entertainment options (e.g. balloon animals, petting zoo). Love the variety of toys/play structures to accommodate a wide age range. Easy street parking. Didn't feel too crowded even at max capacity. - Included/rental items: this was so perfect to minimize stuff to transport/buy - from included tables/chairs/fridge/freezer to fairly priced serving ware/decor/ice/drinks...they really thought out everything to make it easier on busy parents - Staff/communication: Jason and Christian were incredibly patient and helpful setting up decor, making sure things ran smoothly, and just being reliable experts to lean on. Having prior planning input + assistance day of saved me so much time and energy. - Food/Drinks: Appreciated having the freedom to pick our own catering/BYOB option without an additional fee. Overall there's so much freedom to be as minimal or add on as much as you need (and without any added pressure or judgement). They really built a great party planning system to meet your needs at a transparent, reasonable rate. I knew my kids would love celebrating here given how much fun they have visiting. We love coming to playlab! We've been coming since my son was 1 and he will be 2 in a few months. It's easy for him to have solo play here where I can sit back and enjoy the complementary tea which is a much needed break for me. We also play together :) I've been able to watch his coordination and tactile skills grow here. He gets so excited when we pull up. I love coming here with my son whenever we can! We live in DTLA and PlayLab is in the perfect area to be a nice, peaceful break from Downtown life. He loves getting a balloon each time we come. I've gone to a lot of indoor/outdoor play places but this one has the most community feel. It's a much place for children to play and for adults to connect. read more

We had our daughter's 2nd birthday party here. What a great venue! They make it so easy, with options to add on just about anything- plates, silverware, balloons, coolers, ice. They even ordered the pizza for us. All we had to show up with was ourselves. Jason, the owner, has a great eye and can make any color scheme and/or balloon decor option work for your needs. All of our guests had fun playing both inside and outside. Aside from hosting a party, we love coming here for open play! The pricing is so reasonable compared to other places, and it is much cleaner and designed for real play, not just overstimulation. Everytime we pop in, my daughter makes a new friend. I wanted to love this place as I've taken my daughter to many play spaces both indoors and outdoors. This place just missed the mark for me. I understand the concept and all, but the lack of other children there made the place seem quite dull. The only other child there didn't want my kid to play with a toy so he licked it top to bottom. The outdoor area was sand everywhere, the indoor space felt small, and there was a spider in the corner by the playground. I also heard you get a balloon with your visit and we didn't get one. My daughter had her first birthday at PlayLab and I'm so glad we were able to make her day truly special. They were extremely helpful and responsive leading up to the day. We wanted to project a Yo Gabba Gabba compilation in the back room for kids to be able to chill out on some Nugget cushions and they were able to make it happen. I liked how access was through ramps or single steps. Little birthday guests seemed to enjoy the deck sandpit the most. My immediate family no longer has small children, but we enjoyed the space this weekend (Keurig kept us on location instead of leaving for the coffee shop across the street). Playlab is the best if you're a toddler parent. I have a wonderful little wild child and it can be exhausting going to the park since he runs so fast and far. Since playlab is all fenced in & fairly contained it's a really relaxing place to be. It's great meeting up with another mom cause we can actually catch up instead of yelling across the park at each other. It's well organized and the toys are nice quality and well maintained & the folks working there keep them clean too (shout out to Katie who is the loveliest!) It's nice to have access to both an indoor and outdoor area. The fee is affordable (and they don't charge for the parent just the child) The hours are amazing. My son is 2.5 and it's perfect for his age. If you're thinking about trying out playlab, do it!! read more

There's a cozy feel here. You feel like you're at your friends. It's a pretty small area of play (2) rooms, place to sit and eat, and an outdoor area with sand. Smaller than other play spaces but it's perfect for my curious 16 month old. Small enough so that I'm not chasing him everywhere but large enough for him to explore. The weekdays aren't so busy and they're wiping down things. Free coffee and water here too and it's bring your own snacks. The only con I see is there isn't many toys outside and the toys are faded from the sun. Other than that, it's worth checking out. read more

They went above and beyond to check in with us, buy supplies to match our theme, party plan, and support the event, I'll think twice about ever hosting at our home again. We always have such a great time at the Play Lab. I started bringing my daughter when she was only 6 months old to the former Pasadena location. She enjoyed the music class there. It's been a crazy 1.5 years and I'm glad they've reopened with precautions. There are indoor and outdoor play areas. One room has a bunch of nugget cushions and climbing apparatus for infants and toddlers. The other room has a kitchen, dollhouse, and a climbing apparatus/slide. Outdoors is my favorite, a large play area with a big sandbox and a cute playhouse. The staff is super sweet. My daughter really liked Kelly! They are located on Colorado a little passed the 134 Colorado exit. Don't miss it, they're at a small corner with with a small parking lot that fits about 3 cars. They're across the street from Found Coffee and the craft beer shop. There's a tall latched gate when you enter, then a smaller gate inside. I like the double precaution to keeps the kiddos inside. We had a birthday for our daughter in August and Carrie was seriously super helpful. I planned a full on huge birthday for my daughter's 1st birthday and it was so much work. This year and also due to the pandemic, we wanted to keep it small...it was more of an excuse to have a play date...but I wanted to be as hands off as possible. Carrie made it so easy by ordering and setting up the decor (table setting, balloon garland, more balloons, tables, chairs) for us. Thank you Carrie! All I did was, order some Popeyes via Postmates, picked up a cooler full of popsicles from Nomad Ice Pops as it was a hooooooot day in August, and showed up. The outdoor area was so hot that day, but my daughter loves their sandbox and she basically stayed there for her entire party. Last but not least, I feel really safe visiting during the pandemic, because masks are mandatory. They now require vaccination or negative covid test. Thank you PlayLab for doing your part in keeping our unvaccinated little ones safe. It's such a crazy time right now and although many of us are taking all the precautions, our "babies'" brains are still developing, they need to play and socialize. We had my son's 2nd birthday party a few weeks ago and it was so much fun! All the kiddos had a blast playing and enjoying the space. Everything went smoothly and the staff was great , they supported us with set up and clean up. We were able to bring our own food, desserts , and decorations. We've been going to the Pasadena location for the longest and decided to check out this Eagle Rock location because we heard that there's an outdoor area for the kids to play and some of the mothers at the Pasadena location said it's worth to check out. We came by around 10am on a weekend and there were plenty of street parking nearby. Place is easy to find, located at a corner spot next to Montessori. We bought a membership package in Pasadena and to our surprise, their Eagle Rock location was able to find our names and honor the package in their system for this location with no issue. The indoor play area is not as spacious and big compared to the Pasadena location. Theres two play rooms and a separate resting/dining area connected to an area where you leave your belongings. Place is super neat, organized and clean. The outdoor play area is the highlight for this place. There's a small hut, kid couches/seating area, and a huge sandbox covered with a huge tarp to block the sun. It's the Vegas for kids, minus the pool and EDM music. Jk. After you're done, there's a sink on the side where you're able to wash your little one's hands and toes sparkling clean before going in. If you love the PlayLab in Pasadena, then you'll definitely love the PlayLab just as much as my little one did at this location. Place is super clean. Staffs are super friendly. Parents and kids are super courteous and pleasant. Couldn't ask for anything more. read more

Very obsessed with Carrie and the Playlab! I had a birthday party event here for my two year old. So several things: 1. Carrie was amazingly flexible. We had to reschedule the party as it was originally scheduled during the covid surge. She completely understood my concerns and rescheduled it immediately. 2. I have a bun in the oven and asked if Carrie could assist in the design and set up for the party. It was with an extra charge but oh so worth it. I sent her ideas and she came back killing it. We worked together and it was amazing. The communication couldn't be better, she replied to my crazy texts and emails quickly! She handled ordering everything we discussed and as you can see from the pics, it was perfection. 3. I wanted churros for the party and ran into so many dead ends. I told Carrie and within a week found a vendor! With my vintage pastel Disneyland theme, she found a vendor who did Mickey Mouse churros! Something so different! 4. The day of the party was seamless. Carrie and Nicole did the setup the day of. Whatever I asked for (extra tables and music) Carrie came through! 5. The PlayLab itself is such a perfect venue for littles. My girl refused to leave the sandbox. Different areas for the kiddos to explore (inside and outside). It's covered enough from the outside you definitely have privacy for the party. 6. We had a taco vendor serve the food. He was able to set up in the parking lot. It was great! My only thing is I wish the venue was bigger! I have a huge family and set of friends. I wish we could've invited them all. But the smaller capacity did allow us to talk to everyone which was great. I can't wait to work with Carrie again! I will be coming here often to take advantage of the sandbox that my girl loves so much and more birthday parties I'm sure. Many thanks to Carrie and her team for a dream birthday! read more

I considered this location for my daughter's 5th birthday. She ultimately decided she wanted to party at home, but I felt compelled to shout out the friendly gentleman that assisted me with the consultation, tour and potential decor details. It was a lovely venue and perfect for ages 0-4/5 as advertised. I considered more than one venue and the service offered at this location was the best. Special thanks for the coffee provided. If you want an easy day with your little one, just bring them over to the play lab sit down on the sofa with your coffee and watch them play. My son who is 14 months spent most of his time playing in the sand. I also loved that they are trying to clean the areas as well. Jason and his team at PlayLab were absolutely wonderful in having us back in December 2022, for my son's birthday. I originally called looking for Carrie, but Jason mentioned she has been very busy. I needed someone to help "plan" the party. Jason took multiple calls from me and we discussed for quite a while, through phone and email. He sent me some referrals for desserts, balloons, etc. This was very helpful, and according to Jason, they have quite an extensive list of vendors if needed. At the day of the party, Jason and his team member was present to assist. They both made sure EVERYTHING was to our expectations, and even assisted with moving items as vendors started coming in. To us this was very important and appreciated, because my family and I were juggling our own kids and guests at the same time. The bit of help went a long way for us. Now about the venue, I would say it was perfect. It's a bit dark inside, so I would probably suggest brighter lighting, but there were plenty plenty plenty of things for the children to play with. The outside, although small, was more than enough for the children and guests to enjoy. The sandbox does do its work :). Lastly, the parking is little to none, but it seemed like all our guests were able to park on the side streets without trouble. Cost wise, this fit within our budget. This was the perfect place to host my son's third birthday party. Safe, clean, picturesque - tons of toys and places to play (inside AND outside!) Every adult had to show a vax record or negative covid test. Plenty of tables and chairs for grown ups and little ones, easy to decorate/ execute your own vision. Handwashing station at secure entry, bathroom that accommodates both diaper changes and littles who are potty training. They let me use their Bluetooth speaker so I could bump the Bluey Instrumental soundtrack. I could've done a free birthday at the park or the beach, but I think I would've been stressed about keeping track of the kids in that case. Also, at 3, they don't really do "activities" at parties yet, they just want to PLAY - and there were so many options (cushion room, sand pit, play kitchen, dress up, climbing structure) here. I threw a Halloween party here for my kids and their friends. We made slime and watched a movie on the projector screen outside. Jason is absolutely amazing! Everyone had a great time! I would definitely recommend this space for a party. I can not comment about open play as my children are past that stage but in general the play space and bathroom are very clean. The person I was in contact with was Carrie. She was amazing! She was very accommodating and quick with her responses! I am not very good at visualizing designs and decorations so I am that type of customer/client who will really rely on the person's recommendations. Carrie and her team did not disappoint. After discussing and showing her sample photos of the Aladdin theme I wanted for my son's first birthday, she and her team executed it really well!!! Carrie made sure I was updated every step of the way and the best part of it all is that she worked with my budget. She took into consideration what I can afford and she was really nice about it.
