Very great visit. Love the lobby and appointment room. They were very caring during the visit.

While the dental care was good (nice hygienists, great dentists), their office policies and front staff are officious and have consistently left me feeling irritated and/or perplexed. They are sticklers about timing, which is of course understandable with a large practice, but they could be more lenient for those coming from the islands on the erratic ferries. I've been running 15 min behind on the ferry over, given them a call to give them a heads up, and then found myself begging them to accommodate a longer tardiness than their policies allow. When people take off work and school for many hours to travel to the dentist, some additional grace would be appreciated. Perhaps the message is that they don't need islanders. Anyway, my kids have all graduated from this pediatric practice (happens at age 14 - be warned!), so now I can speak freely. I never had any doubt about the quality of care; it is just the way patients are handed otherwise. read more

From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave you will feel seen and cared for. We absolutely love Dr. Hill and her entire staff. We love Stacy at the front desk. Our children beg to go just to see them. After having severe dental anxiety myself I was afraid to pick someone for my kids, but Dr. hill changed my outlook for the dentist. read more

They are discriminatory towards children, they do not treat all children equally. When I asked why they are making certain decisions towards a certain group of children opposed to other group of children, they just claimed that they were not able to answer me. It is so sad to have a community that discriminates against children. read more

We took our child here for a first dental appointment. The whole team was amazing, very friendly, and listened to all of our concerns. Our toddler is very active but their dental room had a ton of toys! This spot is a little bit of a drive for us, but so far, we find it worth it! read more

We love them! My challenging kiddo skips into their office, my son asks to go there. They are amazing with kids and parents alike. Very calming environment for the kids, they train their staff to talk so kids will listen and understand. This place is absolutely amazing. I would recommend this for anyone with toddlers who are shy or scared of the dentist. We had Natalie as our assistant and she knew exactly how to direct my 3.5 year old who was unsure of everything. She was amazing!! The place has a bunch of toys and I love the openness of everything. The staff is friendly and everyone was super friendly and supportive. The kids can watch the other children getting their exams so it's less scary. Im so glad we decided on this place for her exam because she wasn't scared at all. They let her bring in her stuffed animal and because she had no cavities she was able to put her name on the wall with the other kids. They also gave her a balloon to take home. These guys do an amazing job. I'm not gonna name names but there's a place in Mount Vernon that my daughter used to go to and she absolutely hated going to the dentist. Because of them. With these guys she doesn't mind going. And my autistic son, every couple months asks me if it's time to go back to the tooth doctor. Both my kids also give them a thumbs up. read more

We had the worst experience at playhouse dental! My 6 year old was there for a routine cleaning. She has good oral hygiene, brushes and flosses well. Has never had any problems as far as cavities or anything that could potentially be a cavity in any previous appts and X-rays. When talking with her about the upcoming appt she said she didn't want X-rays and I didn't feel she needed them either. She has plenty of space between most of her baby teeth making it easier to see if there's a problem. Because of all these factors we were confident in choosing to not have any X-rays done and subject her to a medical procedure she didn't want or need. We let the assistant know this when she asked about X-rays. After the assistant cleaned her teeth, the male Dr came over to me, got right in my bubble and made me feel like an idiot for not going with the X-ray. I let him know if he could give me some sort of reason why she NEEDED them maybe I'd reconsider. He didn't have much to say other than it helps them to catch potential cavities a little sooner. As I mentioned above this wasn't a concern of ours and if he'd looked in her mouth he'd see this for himself. He told me that if we were to refuse the X-ray we were NOT WELCOME to come back and we'd have to find a new dentist. I said that's fine we'd do that. It really made him angry that he wasn't able to change my mind with his threat of having to find a new dentist. At that point he refused to finish the appt or look in my 6 yr old daughters mouth if we stuck with our decision. We did. Let's not forget he is saying all of this in front of my small child who was already nervous about going to the dentist. He then proceeds to tell me and my 6 year old that millions of kids end up in the ER each year from Making the choice we had just made. My daughter was now terrified and crying so I scooped her up and left. She didn't get an apology for making her scared and cry, she didn't get the balloon she was promised, nothing. So I spent the 45 minute drive home explaining to my poor little girl that she isnt going to die or be in any medical emergency from refusing a dental X-ray of her healthy baby teeth. I'm a firm believer in teaching both of my daughters that their body is their own! If they don't want someone to do something to their body wether it's a Dr or anyone! They can always say no! He told my **6 year old** today that for simply saying no she didn't want a medical procedure done to HER BODY, she wasn't welcome there and she could have scary, emergency, consequences! I don't think there's anything about this that speaks professionally or someone that should be dealing with children. I'm of course not a dentist so all I know is what I've read and been told along with my personal experience of being 43 with no cavities and having only 2 X-rays on my teeth my whole life! Oh and I've never been in the ER So, if this dentist would have chosen to educate me rather than threaten me of why this procedure was necessary for my daughter to be healthy, this whole situation along with the anxiety and fear it's caused my little girl could have been avoided. I think it really speaks a lot to the professionalism here when the time was taken to post this on Facebook the very next morning, (coincidence I think not) rather than a phone call to apologize to the 6 year old you've now left terrified of ever going back to the dentist. side note: We've seen one other dentist here for all of my daughter's oral care and it's been great! As well as all of the dental assistants! My older intellectually disabled daughter has been going to the same dentist for over 8 years and we've never had a problem. Also your little educational screenshot here states that X-ray are safe for *healthy children* I've read countless publications that dental X-rays should only be taken on children *when necessary* I'm curious? If a dentist has already prescribed and X-ray for a patient he's never seen, never examined, doesn't know much about their health and refuses to look in the child's mouth how would he know the X-ray was necessary? Thankfully both of my children are healthy so they don't require mammogram at 6 yrs old, don't smoke or live in Denver or need any other sort of scans and neither like bananas so these references mean nothing to us. I was recommended this place and I am SO happy I made an appointment. This place is so awesome! From the second I walked in I felt welcomed and my 3 year old son felt instantly comfortable and excited to be at their cute kid area. My son usually gets nervous at any kind of appointment but The sweetest dental assistant made him feel quite at ease. He was hesitant to get on the chair but she talked him thru it and he was even excited to get on after that. Then the dentist came! Before even getting to his teeth she spent time making him giggle and not be scared of her (which he usually was at a previous dentist at other office). He willingly sat perfectly still for her and I know that's because he trusted her and was completely comfortable (he was NOT like that at his last appointment in a different location)When he was done they gave him a little treat bag,a balloon and even an extra balloon for his stuffed animal he brought. Sh even specifically said good bye to him and his stuffed animal Moe! My son just received a thank you card and some stickers for him and Moe for coming! He got SO excited when he received this. By the smile on his face he clearly remembered the fun place he visited. I'm not one to yelp much or even give specific details about locations but this place went above and beyond that I had to write and say THANK YOU so much for making my boy love the dentist, making it such a fun experience, taking time to care and putting this mamas heart and nerves at ease. We had our first visit to Playhouse Dental (their new location in Anacortes) today and it exceeded all of my expectations for our kiddo! This was her first check up at 9 months old. Other, older kids in the office seemed to be enjoying themselves as well. All staff were friendly from the front desk to getting our balloon at the end! I was impressed by Dr. Sarah Hill, she explained things as we went and repeatedly paused to ask if we had any questions. They take both dental insurance and provider one, which is awesome! We are foster parents and we chose to drive out to Anacortes from the Mt. Vernon area to give them a try, SO glad we did and SO thankful that they take our kiddo's state insurance! read more
