The restaurant has improved so much in terms of quality, atmosphere, and overall experience. Even though it has an express-style setup (similar to fast-casual spots where you order quickly), the vibe is still peaceful and comfortable. The seating area feels very relaxing and calm. They even have a cute egg chair corner. They play authentic music, which really adds to the experience. I ordered Heat waves Bowl , a bowl with four protein options: chicken, ham, shrimp, and beef. I asked them to remove the hame , raw meat option, and kmishi. They did. Everything I received was absolutely delicious. The quality of the food was excellent, very fresh, and you can tell they care about cleanliness and presentation. The bowl was beautifully arranged and very pleasing to the eye. The portion size was generous, and the price was very reasonable, $14 for a large, filling bowl. Service was super fast too. I ordered, went to the restroom, and when I came back my bowl was already waiting for me. From the food quality, speed of service, atmosphere, location, and pricing, everything was on point. The staff are genuinely warm, smiling, and incredibly welcoming. This is exactly the standard I mean when I talk about true hospitality and I always hope for. It instantly makes you feel comfortable and at ease. There's something very calming about the space, with thoughtful details that reflect authentic Arab culture. The décor is stunning, elegant, luxurious, and thoughtfully designed, with beautiful touches that reflect authentic Arab culture. Even the cups are charming , artistic, designed with Arabic calligraphy, which adds such a authentic touch. Arabic music playing in the background adds to the cozy, inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you want to stay longer. The menu is impressively diverse and authentically Arabian. I especially loved the bakery section, there's a great variety of savory items, which is such a rare and appreciated touch in cafés They offer sambosa, Saudi coffee, Dubai cake, and traditional Arabic honeycomb bread (khaliat al-nahl), all in one place. Prices are very reasonable, and they're currently offering 20% off for their grand opening. Yay I ordered a cup of Adani tea, which was beautifully and perfectly brewed, rich, balanced, and full of flavor. I also tried a small pizza, and honestly, it was so delicious that one wasn't enough! Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly done. One of my favorite features is they stay open until 11 PM, and until 12 AM on weekends! which is a golden advantage! This alone makes Shibam Coffee stand out from many other cafés in Kalamazoo. I truly hope they continue offering these late hours--we really need this here. The restrooms were spotless , well cared for, and thoughtfully designed, even featuring Arabic culture in some aspects, which was such a lovely detail. Overall, this place has everything, excellent service, beautiful décor, cleanliness, authentic flavors, and a welcoming atmosphere. I can already tell this will become my go-to spot. Shibam Coffee feels like a place you want to return to again and again. Cozy, elegant, welcoming, and full of heart. The staff seemed pleasant and softspoken, so staff need to be a little more assertive. The bakery items were very good. However the restock was a shambles, the hot cases keeping the pastries fresh and warm were ransacked and empty. There were options, but for opening honeymoon period, way too many empty cases. As a chain restaurant, it's very good. The pastries are not made on site, they are baked fresh, but they are foodservice freezer packed. Perhaps the bread itself is made on site, will have to return and try that next time. Could have been five stars if the stock was maintained, but also, popular items so it is understandable.
